What Past Guests Are Saying
This apartment was the a great investment in a wonderful holiday
I loved this apartment, i stayed for a week. The check in was so easy, great location, close to public transport and shopping. although i had to go up a couple flights of stairs to get to the apartment, i needed the exercise after all the tapas i ate! i could have used an extra towel, but i use more than the average person.
Always use this company, great service, great apartments
We stayed here a few years ago, it is not my favourite apartment we have stayed in but it was suitable for us. Location is fantastic, close to metro. staff at homes for travellers are very nice and always helpful. Apartments are always clean and have everything you need for a good stay.
A most enjoyable stay in Madrid
My family and I decided to rent this apartment for our stay in Madrid, and we are so glad we chose it. The pictures and description found on the website were accurate and gave us a good idea of what to expect.Begona and Raquel answered my emails promptly and were very accommodating. The apartment was a perfect base for exploring beautiful Madrid.
Great Location and Value
Communication and arrangements were smooth accommodation spacious clean and modern You do have to climb 3 sets of stairs and one night a party next door went on till late but we enjoyed the space and the price. We asked for a taxi to airport and it was organised exactly right We had 2 teenage boys and ourselves and could walk to most things we wanted to see and return for an afternoon siesta
Easy to walk to all key tourist attractions. Great variety of local bars and restaurants.
Only downside was that apartment was not ready for us when we arrived.
S & P Thursfield
Lots to see and do within walking distance.
We stayed here for six nights. Apartment is in a side street a few minutes walk from the city centre. Easy to walk to most of the sights of Madrid, but we also used the Metro quite alot to get to places a bit further away. Metro is fantastic! Very regular, reliable and clean, and it only costs 1 Euro.
The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well equiped. We would definately recommend it. There are at least 4 small grocery shops within a 5 minute walk of the apartment, selling most things you need.
After we had booked the apartment we had read on the internet that the area is a bit rough and that there were prostitutes nearby. We did see prostitutes standing at the end of the street, but they were also at the main shopping street. As for crime, we actually felt very safe going back and forth to the apartment in the day and at night. The street is well lit and is quite busy.
The only problem we had was on the first night. The people in the apartment above (we think it is privately rented) decided to have a party. The music was at full blast from about 11pm until 3am. It was awful and we couldn't get to sleep. We phoned the rep the next day and he was really apologetic and said he would have a word with their landlord. He said that it was a bank holiday weekend and thought it was probably a one-off as they are a family and usually cause no problems. The rest of the week, we didn't hear a peep out of them.
Excellent location; very good value.
Excellent location, you can walk to all points in not more than half an hour, most in 20 minutes. Very good neighbourhood restaurants. Good size apartment, well equipped. Would definitely rent again.
Central, clean, nicely furnished. The stairs were a bit of struggle after a day of walking around Madrid though.
Great location and excellent service
The apartment is located on a street with really great, charming bars with what seems no tourists. It's very close to the tourist center as well and we never felt we needed to use public transport. Check in went very well. Very helpful people. Only downside was that you can't use the blinds on one window in the living room so if you sleep more than two, bring something to cover your eyes in the mornings.
L'appartement a vraiment la bonne taille pour s?journer avec 2 enfants en bas ?ge. Le quartier est tr?s sympa tr?s branch?.
Great apartment to use as base to explore Madrid
The location of this apartment is perfect placed for those wishing to explore the main sites of Madrid. It is only moments from the major shopping district of Gran Via and is also excellently located to the bars and night life of Chueca.
It is also close to severally handy tube stations although we didn't need to use them during our stay as we found that all of the main attractions were within walking distance.
The apartment was clean and spacious and getting the keys was simple and hassle free.
I would thoroughly recommend this apartment to any 21-35 year olds who want to experience the feeling of actually living in Madrid.
As with any central location there were some slighly seedy streets nearby, but this never effected our trip as the street always felt busy and safe.
Loved it and I thought it was very reasonably priced considering it accomodated 4 people comfortably.
Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Great location, great apartment
The location, amenities, and setup of this apartment was perfect for my three week stay.
Perth Western Australia
pretty apartment/tough area
The check in at the apartment was excellent with Bergona turning up just as we arrived and she did a quick and efficient hand over with all the information we need on the apartment and services in the area. The apartment itself is lovely, just as shown. There were small things like the stereo not working properly but we left a message and I am sure it will be fixed for the next tenents. We found the area a little grimey, lots of graffiti and rubbish and just a bit too edgy for comfort. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience in Madrid as we were robbed on the street in Gran Via and lost cash and all our cards. I would probably prefer to recommend this apartment for a younger crowd.
Excellent apartment in a fantastic location, close to public transport and easy walking distance to many attractions and night life areas, with bars and cafes nearby. Great amenities in the apartment, and the service from Begona was fantastic - part hotelier, part tour guide! A huge bonus was that it was quiet, despite being so close to everything. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone staying in Madrid.
Seattle, Washington, USA
Excellent Experience, Great apartment and Location
I was apprehensive about selecting an apartment sight unseen where I was going to live for the month of June 2010. I was extremely happy with the apartment and the location in Madrid. Close to wonderful bars, restaurants, and some of the most interesting shopping in Madrid, the apartment was great. A plus for Madrid in the summner, the apartment has great airconditioning!
The only downside is that it is on the third floor - so when you first arrive with luggage it can be a haul. However, it is very nice being above the street noises and you have a decent view up with good light. The apartment was clean, well equipped, close to grocery stores, walking distance to La Gran Via and all tourist sites, but not in a tourist riddent area. The Malasaña neighborhood, where the apt. is located, is the equivalent of the east village in NYC - a bit bohemian, non-touristy, creative, and where many Spanish young people go out on the weekends. So, be prepared for lots of nightlife on your street.
I would have stayed longer in the apartment if I could. Also, the landlady was freindly and very hands off - while in the apartment I really felt like I was living there.
Nice, clean and comfortable appartment, good service, but noisy.
Nice appartment, furnished and decorated with sense for style, clean, and with a evry friendly service by Begoña.
The location was perfect for us, central, both many of the touristic attractions, and a attracive quarter with bars and restaurants were within 15-20 min walking distance. Even located in a small one-way street, the place was very noisy and dark due to 1st floor location, but this is to be expected when you want to live in the center, and closing the windows, it became quiet. One of the places for streetwalkers (prostitutes) lies just around the corner, but without making the place unsafe or unconvenient. It seems to me as if the monie "Princesas by Fernando León de aranoa and music by Mano Chao) was filmed in he neighbourhood. One disadvantage is the very thi door between sleeping and living room, giving not much privacy at night. Even though we enjoyed the stay, and would consider the appartment for a new visit in Madrid
Great apartment with great location!
The apartment was a good size for us, and very comfortable. And we particularly loved the location - just a few blocks from the Gran Via and two key junction stops on the metro and just a block or two in the other direction from some great restaurants and bars. The only minor issue was being so many floors up without an elevator - if you don't have much luggage, this is a perfect spot.
A great apartment in a perfect location
This was a great spacious apartment in a central Madrid location.
Some constructive critisism
Whilst the apartment was very clean and well presented the shower curtain left much to be desired - thick mould. A bleach wash - or just a new one at €3 from a Todo shop ! A bleach wipe around the corner tiles of the shower would have made the shower area perfect - more mould there.
One set of towels is adequate - two sets, for a 4 night stay would have been perfect.
The bed matress was OK but a little soft with two people rolling into the middle !!!!
The digital TV signal is poor - many channels not watchable - many not there at all - probably a feature of the building but if you advertise TV then it should work 100%.
I hope these few items will be taken on board - they would make a five star stay into a six star !!!
Porto Alegre, Brasil
Perfect location but had some issues.
-Perfect location! Quiet and well-lit street at night. 5 min. walk to Gran Via.,
10 min. walk to Puerta del Sol, 5 min. walk to Calle Fuencarral/Chueca.
-The apartment is very spacious with a lovely balcony (my favorite feature).
-Kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, etc.
-The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a 4 story walk-up without an
elevator. So we had to carry our luggage up 70 steps of stairs.
-There is no phone in the apartment. Yes, everyone has a cellphone
nowadays but for tourists like us who do not have international roaming we
had to look for a pay phone to confirm our flight and call for an airport
shuttle. Wireless and wired internet connection is readily available though.
-Bathroom is nice and sufficient. The old and moldy shower curtain needs
to be replaced. No robe hooks.
-The bed, bedding and pillows are not very comfortable and need to be
changed. The sliding doors to the bedroom from the living room is faced
with glass so some daylight will come through in the morning. If you are
the type who likes to sleep in the dark then this might be an issue.
Overall, a good place to rent but it ain't the Ritz!
A mixed review
Our overall experience with this apartment was mixed. The booking process and the welcome we received were good and frendly. The apartment was spacious and comfortable enough, although not luxurious, but about what was expected for the price. One negative was lack of an elevator, so a long walk upstairs to this third floor (U.S. fourth floor) apartment, which we did not see in the description and could be a problem for older or less mobile guests. The location was central and convenient, but the neighborhood had some "seedy" aspects, like sex shops and "hookers" hanging out on the street outside buildings.
Delighted with the apartment!
We are delighted with the apartment! Both Raquel and Begoña have been very kind and very professional. The apartment has a great location (just off Gran Via) with Metro connections in less than 1 minute.
About the apartment itself, saying that is well-equipped, all very clean and tidy, apart from being in excellent condition. I recommend it 200%. For me, the best option to go to Madrid.
Great Location, Excellent Apartment
My family and I stayed at The Madrid Gran Via Chueca 1 Apartment this past
Christmas holidays. This Apartment was perfect for our stay. My children are
very particular, and they loved it. The apartment was in a great location. Two
Blocks north of Gran Via. Startbucks on the corner. Laundry mat across the
street from the apt building. Great neighborhood restaurants all around and
great prices. The apt was clean, great furniture, had all items needed for a
perfect stay. Would high recommend this apartment. only negative is the apt
building has no elevators. My children loved free wifi. The apt manager,
Begona was very responsive and gave us great tips.
Adorable Apartment, Great Location
Perfect for a small family and a very nice location. The street outside can be a bit noisy at night but it's a small price to pay for being close to everything. We felt like we were home! Would certainly return.
