Perth, AustraliaSpacious apartment, in a Central Location
Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We enjoyed our stay in the apartment. We to were met by ana. Luckily with a little Italian/Spanish/English we managed the hand over easily.Reading the review written by Georgia all of the local info is there. I would agree with evrything written in her review, so won't cover it again. Location was great. Very central. Saw the air Con but as it was cooler when were in Madrid we had no need for it. The elevator was a saviuor, especially when getting up to the apartment with luggage. So many Museums to visit in Madrid, along with amazing food. The only thing I would mention is that there was a bit of a cigarette smell in the apartment, it seemed to come form the towels in the cupboard??? Being a non smoking group we all noticed that. It was not too bad once we aired the apartment but noticeable. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. For Europe it is a reasoably sized apartment, with 7 people we had room to move & separate which was Great. Thank you for having us stay with you.

Atlanta, GeorgiaConvenient, well-maintained, and comfortable
Left on 12/03/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Travel for business and pleasure took us to Madrid. Traveling with an 18 months baby meant a regular hotel would not be sufficient. We needed separate rooms for the baby could nap, access to a kitchen and laundry machine, and lots of space. This flat had all of those and more (including 2 lifts!).
The owner's son, Alvaro, answered all of our questions quickly and helpfully before and after we booked the flat. The owner, Ana, met us promptly at arrival and departure. She explained everything about the flat clearly. Knowing a little bit of Spanish will help as she speaks mostly Spanish, although alvaro and I corresponded in English.
The flat is cheerful, recently renovated, and filled with light, with lots of windows to open. Air conditioners are in the living room and main bedroom, but not the small bedrooms on the hallway. Of course, we did not need them during our stay. The hallway rooms and second bathroom are small, but good for one person or two children. The main bedroom can function as an en suite-- the hallway door closes off the main bedroom and bathroom from the rest of the flat. Upon our request, they provided a travel baby cot and two sets of linens for our son. We did splash a lot of water onto the floor from the shower on the first night. The edge of the shower is not very high. Once we learned to keep the curtain firmly in place, there were no more problems.
The flat is between atocha Station and Delicias. The closest metro stop is Palos de la Frontera, on the yellow line. It has a lift. Taxis are readily available on Delicias, a 2 minutes walk to the east. They travel north on Delicias to atocha, so there are always plenty. There were also 4 playgrounds at the intersection of Calle de Canarias and Delicias. We tried all of them.
There were 4 groceries within 5 minutes-- Mercadona (our favorite) on Santa Maria de la Cabeza, Lidl on Embajadores, and ahorra Mas and SuperCor on Delicias. There is also Mercado de Santa Maria, a traditional market, below Mercadona. The stove and oven were a bit confusing-- please make sure you ask ana to explain them if you plan to cook. There was a toaster, coffee maker, and some basics (salt, sugar, olive oil, powdered coffee). If you use the washing machine, there are plenty of lines to hang our laundry on, including some on the covered balcony-- no fear of fall rain spoiling the drying process.
Everything was provided-- dishwashing liquid, laundry powder, toilet paper, towels, sheets, pillows, extra blankets. Prior visitors have left some bottles of shampoo, hair gel, et cetera, so if you forget something, check the cabinets before buying. Each evening, a gentleman who works in the building will come to take trash. You can take recycling to the curbside collection bins yourself. There was some noise in the evenings-- other families sharing dinner on their balconies that open to the central courtyard or dogs barking-- but overall the neighborhood was quiet.
It was a 20 minutes walk to El Rastro on Sunday morning or atocha at any time. The Prado and El Parque de Retiro were 25 minutes. The center was 11 minutes-- 5 minutes walk to the metro and 6 minutes ride to Sol.
If you are looking for a spacious, renovated, well-appointed flat in a quiet neighborhood of Madrid, I highly recommend this one. -

We spent 6 days in Madrid with my parents, grandparents and two small kids in this apartment. It was super clean and we were very comfortable.
It is very well situated close to the metro and with a large supermarket just around the corner.

We are parents that stayed with our 3 grown children (all in their 20's). We telephoned from Madrid airport upon arrival, and the owner's mother met us at the apartment. While the mother spoke no English, she made herself well understood and was very pleasant. The apartment has 3 bedrooms - one with a double bed, and the other two with twin beds; a living room, small dining area, and kitchen. The apartment is pleasant, spacious, well equipped, with air-conditioning throughout. It is a 10 minute walk to atocha station, and near the metro, buses, and a supermarket.

The apartment was quiet and clean. It was spacious for our family. The kitchen was well equipped. The owners were friendly and quick to answer any questions. It was only a short walk to the museums, metro, and train stations. There was a large supermarket right around the corner. We would stay here again.
