Just returned to the us after a great trip to Madrid, I stayed in Jose's coll apartment and the experience was great! The apartment is spacious, clean and nicely decorated, often apartments are just not this big but this one is really great for a family or a group of friends. The area has a young, cool vibe and is really easy to get everywhere from, the subway is really close and there are nice cafe's nearby for breakfast and to have a real Spanish "Cortado" at. Would stay here again for sure even for business. Thanks Jose for all your tips! Great pad man! Josh.

SevilleUnforguetable apartment near Gran Via
Left on 12/02/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We are a group of friends that travel together every year to a different location in Europe, this time it was Madrid.
Our experience in this apartment is one of the best ones that we've had in our trips. It's modern, comfy and has all the things you need for a perfect stay, such as a good wireless connection to Internet.
We didn't spend that much time at home (it did feel like home), but it was nice to think that after a long day out there was a nice and cozy place waiting for us, whether we wanted to relax in the huge sofa watching TV or take a long shower.
We saved a lot of money in transportation as this place is very central and a nice walk away from most places that you want to visit in Madrid and going out at night was really easy as the neighborhood is full of restaurants and bars.
I wouldn't hesitate coming back to this place, it's the perfect apartment to stay at in Madrid. -

Great place to stay at in Madrid. Location is center to everything. Place is clean and in a safe area which is very neighborly.
The apartment has a lot of natural lighting. Complete kitchen amenities. Clean bathroom with great water pressure. Very spacious bedrooms and living room.
The area is perfect for enjoying great local restaurants. We enjoyed dining at Cerveceria La almudayna. Abundant choices for restaurants and shops without the noise.
The metro stops are very close. Overall experience was great. I can say that this is one of the best apartments I have rented in Europe.
I would like to thank Jose Truchado for making our stay in Madrid very comfortable. Every time I have a question before and during my stay, he is very responsive. Providing every information I need. Great customer service. Thanks Jose! - You will definitely here back from us the next time we visit Madrid. -

Adirondacks, NYGreat location
Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Great apartment in a neighborhood very close to dining, metro, and stores. Owner was most helpful in suggesting places to see, things to avoid, etc. There is no street parking but there is a public parking complex only a couple of blocks away - though it is not too easy to find if you are unfamiliar with the city.
Downside is that it is on the fourth floor, which for those from the U.S. means 5th... no elevator...however, beautiful old staircase.
Note: Traveling in Madrid makes finding any specific location very, very difficult ...even with a map or GPS. Maps do not show side streets or the fact that many are one way and Spain's street signs are on buildings so you have driven past the signs before you can figure out what they say. Take a cab to the apartment when you first arrive and if you are going to rent a car, don't rent it until you are leaving Madrid. It is worth the extra metro trip to pick up the car at the airport and avoid driving downtown. -

We just got back from our Holidays in Madrid and we are so glad we stayed in this apartment, first the location is incredible, very central but in a safe and quiet street, we barely used public transport during our stay as it's very close to everything there is to see in Madrid, and then the area is full of nice restaurants and Tapas bars.
I guess the only draw back is the four floors and no elevator, but after all we ate we welcomed the exercise.
The place is nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable, it had everything you would need for a comfortable stay and the owner was kind enough to send us some sightseeing itineraries and some restaurant tips that proved to be very useful.
If we come back to Madrid we'll definitely want to stay here again. -

Nice, clean, modern comfortable apartment. 17 & 19 yr old kids loved it.
The only inconvenience is the steep 4 floor walk up.
Located in a funky neighborhood with lots of boutiques and cafes.
Walk to Gran Via, Plaza de Espana, Palacio Real, and the subway.
Nice change from a hotel. The only thing missing is room service and a pool. -

Left on 04/06/2012 for a stay in March 2012
My friends and I decided to staying this apartment instead of booking a hotel, we wanted to stay in a place that was central and that allowed us to experience how life in Madrid is, and this apartment was the perfect place for that.
First of all it's very central, we didn't take a single taxi, and only used the subway a couple of times out of laziness more than anything.
In spite of being in a quiet street, the neighbourhood where the apartment is full of restaurants and interesting places to shop.
The apartment itself is very cozy, modern and convenient, although the 6 of us had to share rooms, we had enough space to move around. The large kitchen was convenient as we eat in a couple of times and prepared some meals there.
Excellent experience and if we go back to Madrid we'll certainly stay in the same apartment. -

Left on 02/13/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Stayed here a few days recently and had a wonderful time, its hard to believe there are flats this big in the centre! The flat is funky and furnished to a high standard, we loved the attention to detail and the fact that you can walk everywhere so easily from here, but there is a metro stop close by when you just cannot walk any more. The flat is great if you are a group or just a couple who like having a lot fo space.

GranadaA Cool Home in Madrid
Left on 12/22/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Travelling with my family in December meant that we were looking for a place we could enjoy this time of the year, a place that felt like home away from home, and this apartment certainly fulfilled my wish.
Warm, central and beautifully decorated this apartment is certainly a wonderful place to stay in Spain's capital. It's so close to the Gran Via, Madrid's busiest street and to the puerta del Sol, you can literally walk everywhere.
The apartment is in a neighbourhood called Malasania, a buzzing area full of local designers, cool tapas bars and restaurants, the apartment's owner sent us an email with restaurant recommendations in the area that turned out to be excellent. Also he recommended some places to visit that we wouldn't have gone to otherwise and thank god we did, the Debod Temple are was impressive!
This apartment is one of the reasons why our holidays in Madrid have been amazing, my family and I loved it! -

LondonBeautiful flat in Madrid very central
Left on 12/14/2011 for a stay in December 2011
I just came back from a short holiday in Madrid with a group of friends and one of the highlights of our trip was this flat. We were 6 guys and were looking for a place that was central n well located, we don't party heavily but we didn't want to have to spend extra on Taxis to go out, in this sense this place is brilliantly located and you can work virtually everywhere from here.
The three rooms are really nice, one was kind of small with a bunker bed but comfortable enough for us, central heating and wireless internet were essential to us as Madrid tends to be quite cold in the winter and this place is great, you can regulate the temperature from a control panel in the living room and adsl internet worked faster than at home (take a note BT!!).
Christmas in Madrid is amazing, and this place is in the middle of it, lovely restaurants around, nice coffee shops and close to all shopping areas. The street where the flat is is very quiet though.
I will definitely come back to this place with my friends! -

Left on 11/11/2011 for a stay in September 2011
I traveled to Madrid with my family, my wife and 2 daughters and staying at this apartment was perfect, very central so we could walk everywhere and in a safe area.
The apartment itself is very beautifully decorated and it's very convenient, my two daughter could each have their own room which they appreciated. The kitchen was very big and well equipped so we could cook at home and have our family meal and the fact that it has free wireless internet is a plus too.
The owner was very nice and friendly and gave us a lot of information on the places we could visits and restaurants in the area which we wouldn't have found by ourselves.
Madrid is a lovely city, we didn't expect it to be so beautiful and friendly. Our daughters had a great time we loved every bit of it and staying at this wonderful apartment made our holiday even better. -

My family and I just got back from spending a week in Madrid, and we had such a great time there partly because of this lovely apartment in the center of Madrid, it was so central that we barely used the public transport and walked mostly everywhere. We have two teenagers and the neighborhood felt safe for us to allow them to go out at night as the area is very lively full of nice restaurants and clubs.
I'd surely recommend this apartment for anyone who wants to really enjoy Madrid.
We wer received by a really nice lady that gave us some indications but also the owner emailed us a really nice list of restaurants and places to visit, for example the Debod Temple that otherwise we wouldn't have visited and it was amazing. We want to come back to Madrid soo and we will stay in this apartment again for sure!!! -

Left on 08/10/2011 for a stay in August 2011
On our visit around Spain we wanted to stay in Madrid for a couple of days to explore the city and visit it's museums, so we decided to stay in this nice apartment rather than a hotel. The apartment is extremely central, within walking distance of everything, very cozy and comfortable, nicely equipped with all you need for a stay in the city, Aircon was very much welcome as Madrid is extremely hot during this month. The owner was very friendly and gave us several suggestions of places to visit during our stay and restaurants in the area that we could go to, although the area is so full of nice restaurants that we almost didn't need that. For us it was the perfect place to stay really, we loved the city, loved the apartment, we'll definitely be back.
The only thing was that the lack of elevator meant that we had to walk up and down the 4 floors whenever we went out, otherwise the place is perfect. -

Brisbane, AustraliaA disappointing stay
Left on 07/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We stayed in this apartment for a week in June 2011, four adults and two kids (8 and 5). We booked this apartment based on the great reviews, but perhaps didn't appreciate the possible differences between those reviewers and our situation. In particular, we were staying with kids, using all bedrooms and cooking in a lot.
The positives. The apartment has good space in terms of pure size. It's in good condition. It's in a great location with heaps of shops and restaurants around and easy walking to two metro stations.
The less than positives...
Check in was hopeless. The owner couldn't meet us and arranged for someone else. Then they couldn't meet us so a neighbor in the apartment block was left with the keys. They didnt speak English, gave us the keys, pointed at our door and closed their door. Inside the apartment there was no welcome or instructions at all. We were sent two short emails by the owner with a few restaurants and suggested tourist spots, but that was it. We had to figure out the rest ourselves. The apartment was completely devoid of any personality. Everything was taken from the kitchen. No cooking oils, no cleaning products, no tea towels, one plug for the kitchen and bathroom, a single wine glass, not even any salt or pepper. The fridge had been unplugged and was hot. The oven wasn't clean and smoked when used. There was dust over many of the kitchen pans. Every single lamp had been unplugged. Walkways were clean, but many shelves were dusty and areas behind doors or under beds were often dusty (discovered as we plugged everything back in).
The layout of the apartment is a little strange. One bedroom right off the living room with a large sliding door (no privacy from the living room really). The bathroom is right at the far end of the apartment. The kitchen is OK, but missing quite a few items and not well cleaned. The bathroom is fine, but had no plugs and got extremely hot even with the exhaust fan on.
The apartment is advertised as air conditioned, but this is not totally correct. Only the front two bedrooms and the living room are air conditioned. The kitchen and, critically, the smaller third bedroom are not air conditioned. It was hot when we stayed, and the third bedroom was almost unusable as a result. The third bedroom is also right beside the bathroom and the kitchen - the noisy fridge is right beside the door. The third bedroom is advertised as having a single bed with a rollout bed under. It does, but if you rollout the second bed, there is no room left. You cannot open/close the bedroom door as a result - a problem with the bathroom and kitchen right beside it. Two of our adults left after a few days and the kids couldn't wait to get up to one of the other bedrooms. It should be noted that bedroom two has no windows at all, just the doorway.
Madrid is a noisy city. This is not a particularly quiet apartment. The wooden stairs and front door slam all night with the neighbors. The apartment looks into an internal courtyard with all the neighbours. For us, they were noisy, playing loud music and loud TVs past midnight. We slept OK but not great.
You will also be well and truly over the four flights of stairs after a week.
We emailed the owner about some of these items on arrival. Two days later a cleaner was sent with wine glasses and tea towels, and to properly clean the kitchen. We didn't hear from the owner after that or after check out. If you are coming to Madrid for a weekend, in a not too hot time of the year and mainly to party, this would would decent stay and you wouldn't mind some of our issues as much. As a base for a week, in hot weather, with kids (so not out too late) and wanting to cook in, we were disappointed. Despite the previous reviews and positive comments about the owner, the lack of any welcome (or any concern afterwards about our stay) made it feel like a Citadines Hotel. We wouldn't stay here again.Response from Jose Truchado - 07/26/2011
Owner
Most of the things this guest say are true, except the lack of communication, his emails were always answered and I tried to solve all the issues he mentioned.
What he is not saying in his email is that he requested an early check in and 2 more guests for the same price of 4, both requests were granted.
Due to the fact that we had very little time to clean and review the apartment because of their early check in and that we had other guests leaving the same day, we could not prepare the apartment properly, but as soon as the missing glasses, tea towels and oven issues were advised I organized for someone to deliver them and clean again.
The guest was advised that the apartment didn't have any food or cleaning products beforehand so he would need to get them upon arrival, this is done to comply with Spanish Health & Safety laws.
Emails sent on restaurants and sightseeing places around the area are more than a 1000 words long, with links and maps for more information and easy access.
As described in our other reviews, 99% of our guests have a great time and we have a few regular ones, we thrive to make our guests feel at home and when issues arise we try to solve them as soon as possible.

Left on 06/27/2011 for a stay in June 2011
I stayed in this lovely apartment with my wife and my two teenage daughters and we had an unforgettable stay.
Apart from the exercise we got from going up the 4 floors with no elevator once you enter the apartment you enter a cozy and welcoming condo beautifully decorated.
Rooms are spacious for European standards and the free high speed wifi was very convenient, although the owner provided us with a sightseeing guide and recommendations for restaurants in the area.
The only thing that was missing was air conditioning in the third and smallest room, although it never got to hot there as it's very well isolated.

The apartment is spacious for European standards and it's really nicely decorated, very functional and comfortable, we really enjoyed staying there and the landlord had very good suggestions of places to visit and restaurants.

The owners are really friendly people and really helpful. They recommended us a few good places where to eat, go party and everything.

Left on 02/14/2011 for a stay in January 2011
My colleagues and I needed a place to stay in Madrid during the days of the Tourism fair Fitur, most hotels were complete so we decided to rent an apartment for the three of us and we found this perfectly located apartment.
Photos are pretty nice but the apartment looks better in real life, somehow they have taken away the impersonality of this kind of rentals, and you really feel at home.
The apartment is spacious and close to every place of interest in Madrid, we really liked the area and save a lot of money on taxis because we could walk virtually anywhere.
They can count on us staying at the apartment for next year's Fitur -

We had such a blast in Madrid and one of the main reasons for such a wonderful time there was this apartment. We were 6 girls in our 30's celebrating several birthdays so we decided to go to Madrid for a week.
First I must say that the apartment is just lovely really cosy and beautifully decorated, with a big kitchen where we cooked dinners and breakfasts which saved us a lot of money.
The apartment is so close to everything there is to see in Madrid that you can virtually walk anywhere from there (saving a lot in taxis), and the owner even had suggestions of his own that eneded up being quite nice (like visiting the Debod temple which wasn't on our plans and it was amazing). all in all we couldn't be happier with the apartment.

If you go to Europe I would definitely recommend renting an apartment, it will give you a good feeling of the local life and you will feel integrated in the local community.
This was exactly our experience when we rented this apartment, we were a group of 6 friends (all in our 30s) and rather than using our hotel we opted for this nice central apartment. In spite of not having an elevator and that the building is from the 1850's this apartment was modern, cozy, comfortable and extremely well located. The first impression you get when you open the door for the first time is that you are stepping in an almodovar film, full of colour and character.
We were greeted by the owner and he provided us with a very useful guide of restaurants and places to visit and I must say that every single place we wanted to visit was within walking distance of the place. The apartment is close to 3 different subway stations if you want to travel further or use it to go to the airport, and in spite of being in an area full of bars and restaurants it's situated in a very quiet street.
We fully recommend this apartment to anyone that wants to get the most out of their visit to Madrid -

The apartment decor is modern and very tasteful, big kitchen and a decent bathroom, rooms are nice and spacious and the free Wifi was perfect for my husband as he had to work while in Madrid. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

My husband, 22 year old daughter and I went to Spain Thanksgiving week to visit our son/brother who is studying abroad. This proved to be a terrific spot for us...Plenty of stores, shops, etc. in the immediate area and within walking distance to many fun plazas, areas, etc. Additionally, it is very close to two metro lines.
Check in was smooth and easy and we were met by the owner who could not have been more accommodating - maps, restaurant suggestions, etc. The apartment was clean and comfortable and considering it is in a busy area, extremely quiet.

We loved this apartment. It ticked all the boxes - modern, central, it had air conditioning and was spacious (there were four of us). The beds were really comfortable and the sofa was excellent too. Just what we needed to rest ourselves at the end of the day. The street was really quiet but had shops, restaurants and bars just around the corner. We never had to walk far to find lovely tapas. Checking in was really easy and the owner was extremely helpful prior to our trip sending us loads of information on the area and what to see and do which we found really useful. We would definitley stay here again. Madrid is an amazing city and we had an absolute ball there. We did not want to come home. We found the people and the atmosphere really friendly. We made sure to stay out of certain areas and always kept a close eye on our bags but we always felt safe.

My family and I were looking for a comfortable place to stay during our trip to Madrid, traveling with teenagers is never easy but the 50 inch TV set totally convinced my daughters. Air conditioning in the bedrooms and Living room was very welcomed as Madrid is hot as an oven during august.
Very central location and nicely decorated apartment, though our initial impression of the building was quite bad as the staircase is very run down.
Very friendly and helpfull landlord that provided us with a mini guide of places to eat, visit and shopping areas.
