We visited Madrid to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We are really glad that we stayed at antonio Grilo. It was so clean and we loved the air conditioner. The apartment is in a good location and close to the city centers. We bought a 2 day pass for the Tourist Bus and there was a stop only a few blocks away. Someone met us at the apartment to let us in and show us how to use everything.
Negatives:
We had to call Spain Select when we arrived. Figuring out the phones at the train station was interesting and took longer than we would have liked. I understand why they wanted us to call though (in case we were delayed).
Location was down an alley. The alley was dirty and there was a bum sleeping on the sidewalk. We never felt scared or threatened but made sure not to come home too late.
Few of my favorite things:
The hairdryer. We are from the United States and our plugs are different. We bought an adapter but the electric current seemed to not be as powerful. It was so nice to use theirs.
Free WiFi. It worked really well and was so nice to stay in touch with friends and family while we were away.
Air Conditioner - so nice to cool down after being out in the hot weather all day.
We found the property on Vrbo but booked through the Spain Select site. Booking was so smooth and we received confirmation quickly. The agency also responded quickly to any of our emailed questions.
I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. -

Our stay at antony grilo was excellent. The spain select 'team' was very helpful and we were even able to check-in earlier than officially possible. The apartment is exactly the same as on the pictures we have seen on the internet. The area in which the apartment is situated is also great. It is close to the city centre and many tourist attractions. If you like a walk, it is a good starting point from which you can discover the whole city.

While the photo's do justice to the interior of the apartment, the actual outlook and street landscape is less attractive. The apartment is well decked out although a few basic items such as a water kettle were missing. Our experience with Spain Select has been "neutral" - while there were no real negatives, they were basically non-existent during our stay. Our check in was a less than 10 minutes rush, no recommendations for restaurants were given (the "everything is good..." remark doesn't really work - travelers like the local tips), requested extra towels (at extra expense) was not followed through and there was not a single sheet of paper with information on Madrid nor Spain Select - a missed opportunity. Would we rent again from Spain Select? Yes, as the apartment was clean and modern. Next time we will do a little bit more research on neighborhoods as although a central location is important, we like a bit of atmosphere & cafe's around us rather than graffiti & commercial areas. Not sure why I can't post any photo's with this review but more than happy to send you. Ps: Spain-Select's photo's on the website are a true reflection of the apartment's interior.

My wife and I stayed at 11 antonio Grilo for a week in September, 2010. Service by Spain Select was outstanding at all stages. Apartment was impeccably clean with all modern conveniences. Location was convenient to farmers' market, metro, shops and resturants of all types, parking garage (essential in central Madrid), and much more. We will be back. Thanks, Caroline and staff!
