Allen, TXGreat apartment in a great city
Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The apartment was great. Three of us were in Madrid for 3 nights. The manager of the property met us at the apartment with the keys, so that was very easy. There is Wi-Fi in the apartment. Full kitchen with all the dishes, pans, etc. The washing machine was helpful as this was the end of an almost 3 week trip. There is no air conditioning upstairs so we slept with the windows open. It cooled off well, but there was a lot of noise. Street repairs were going on across the street, so it was very noisy in the mornings. The front room upstairs has a glass floor, so that can be tricky if someone is sitting on the couch downstairs and looking up! The door to the unit is right off the sidewalk. There is an open spiral staircase leading upstairs, so it is almost impossible to get a large suitcase up there.
There are 3 tapa restaurants right behind the apartment and 2 across the street--which were very good. There are several other restaurants within a 3 minute walk.
It is in a great location. You can walk to Plaza Mayor in about 5 minutes, La Latina area in 5 minutes, etc... -

Excellent location, excellent service
Left on 08/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We travelled around Europe for the summer (myself and my 3 sons) - Italy, Spain, France, Germany and UK. This was our favourite place of all. The owner met us to greet us and was clearly very proud of the history of his home - providing us with the history which goes back to the 1600s - which was wonderful. The location is perfect, turn left and walk 2 minutes up the hill and you are in the heart of an area with street cafes and restaurants and just a few minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor, which was really lively at night. It's located in a lovely historical area. The facilities themselves included everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable. The only minor negative was that the first night it was a bit warm in the bedroom because there is no ceiling fan but once we discovered a fan in the closet, we set it up in the bedroom doorway (which covered both the bedroom and the upstairs sofa bed) and it solved the problem. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we should return to Madrid. Everything was excellent. (Please note "open" staircase would not be suitable for very young children)

Berkeley CAComfortable and open apartment
Left on 08/14/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Lovely apartment, very comfortable. Nice layout, with open living/dining room area. Ac worked very well (for us americans who are used to it cold). Good neighborhood. While slightly distant for the main tourist areas, it was also quiet and the metro service was excellent. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing neighborhood, but it has all the amenities. There is a fair distance from the main rental offices (where you pick up the keys) to the actual apartment, so be sure to take a cab between those two if you have a lot of suitcases! Also, there's no wifi and only one mediocre cafe nearby which offered it.
