EL APOSENTO

THE SPACE

This magnificent 160 m2 apartment has been recently inaugurated. Its two

floors hold three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a lounge – dining room, a

library and a separate kitchen. El Aposento is located inside the Casa – Palacio

de la Vera, a splendid building dating from 1605 which has been renovated with

the upmost rigour, taste and care.

Its peculiar layout makes it a unique space. The library, with its nearly thousand

books, overlooks the spacious living room, offering a very special perspective

thanks to an interesting blend of materials, colours and works of ar...t – iron and

turquoise wood for the dining table; pistachio green velvet for the comfortable

couches full of cushions of many different textures; iron columns and railing

from the original palace; glass, aluminium and wood; a cattail chair on the

balcony. Contrasts. Harmony.

A singular hall gives access to the bedrooms of both floors. Its astonishing

architecture gives the effect of being in an inside patio. The illusion of the

round railing contrasts with the ceiling beams and the metallic weave of the

floor. Impressive.

The high ceiling of the main bedroom makes it stand out from the other rooms.

It has a 180 x 200 cm. bed with a light tulle canopy and an eye-catching chest

of drawers which creates a very special spot. The mirror reflects an elegant

tapestry reminiscent of Velasquez, giving the room a very warm feeling. Its nice

balcony still has the original big and heavy shutters of the palace.

The duplex bedroom has a living room with a comfortable sofa-bed in the first

floor, and a 160 x 200 cm. bed and a small and very peculiar window in the

second floor.

This Estancia con Arte is named after the individual bedroom, El Aposento. It

is the exact replica of a 17th century chamber for the court, but with all the

comforts of modern life. The bed has a 80 x 200 cm. top-quality matress with

premium linen and several types of duvets and pillows.

The apartment has two complete bathrooms (with a shower and a bathtub

respectively).

The separate kitchen, located in the lower floor, is completely equipped,

providing the opportunity to enjoy a home cooked meal at anytime.

Amenities included at El Aposento: hot and cold air conditioning, iPod/iPhone

loudspeakers, wireless Internet, LCD 42” and 23” screen TV, microwave oven,

vitro-ceramic stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing/drying machine, vacuum

cleaner, iron, juicer, electric kettle, whisk, toaster and hair dryer.

THE ART OF EL APOSENTO

El Aposento has a unique art collection composed by original oil paintings by

Reyes de la Lastra from his collection “sensación:emoción:pintura”, “Retrato”

(1963) by of Rosario Álvarez de Sotomayor, abstract paintings by J. Vieira and

several sculptures, including the bust of Doña Mariana de Austria and a Menina

by Fernando Ors.Read more

THE LOCATION

El Aposento is located between the Literary Quarter and the neighbourhoods of La Latina and Lavapiés, a few steps away from the squares of Tirso de
Molina and Santa Ana. The apartment enjoys a privileged location where one can enjoy a truly authentic atmosphere in the very centre of Madrid.

Stepping out and on the left of the Casa – Palacio de la Vera is the square of Tirso de Molina, dominated by an statue of the writer, where a flower market made of eight modern metal and wooden buckets is held seven days a week. It also has a children playground, a news stand, a supermarket, etc.

On the right are the squares of Jacinto Benavente, El Ángel and Santa Ana.
Located in the famous Literary Quarter, these pedestrian squares offer a wide range of restaurants, bars, traditional cafes and tapas bars, as well as all kinds of traditional and design shops.

El Aposento is also close to the city’s three major touristic places: the Puerta del Sol, the Plaza Mayor and the famous square of Opera. A few metres away, heading down the Calle de Atocha, is the Paseo del Prado, home to Madrid’s famous “Golden Triangle of Art” (the Prado, the Thyssen and the Reina Sofia).

The centre of Madrid enjoys very good transportation links both by metro and bus. There is a car park on the street of the Casa – Palacio, as well as two
other car parks in the squares of Santa Ana and Jacinto Benavente (28 € / day).

There is also a taxi rank and a central transport hub with several metro lines and local trains at Puerta del Sol.

The security deposit is to be left by credit card to the Estancias con Arte assistant who will welcome you to the apartment through a pre-authorization operation in which the amount will NOT be charged NOR retained on the credit card, but only made available in case it needs to be charged after check-out. This operation will be cancelled 48-72 hours after check-out. We advise all our clients to check with their bank prior to their arrival if their credit card allows operations of at least 1.500 €.

  My family recently spent 10 days over Christmas 2012 in Madrid with El aposento as our home away from home. A representative from the agency met us as planned and presented us with a lovely care package of fresh fruit, cheese, ham and wine. The space is as tasteful and wonderful as the pictures look!
  
  Our family of four took advantage of the privacy and comfort over our many days. We easily prepared meals in the kitchen several times when wandering Madrid had concluded for the day. Searching through the numerous books in the library was fun and the furniture was comfortable.
  
  Five minutes from the Metro stop and several markets, bars and restaurants and only 10 minutes from the popular Plaza de Sol. The agency followed up to see how we were fairing yet respected our privacy. I will certainly stay here again. Thanks Ingrid and all the staff at Estancias con arte!
