Los AngelesNice unit, pleasant owner, just not so sure about the location
Left on 04/27/2013 for a stay in April 2013
First the good: Very easy transaction, and the owner communicates well. The apartment is just as advertised. Clean and most everything works, and the sofabed in the living room...honestly, probably the nicest sofabed I've slept on...firm and easy to deal with. There was a minor mix up upon checking in. I gave the time we were to arrive to the unit...we were on time (within 10 minutes or so)...and the "concierge" was supposed to be there upon arrival. Nobody showed for 30 to 45 minutes. Fortunately I had a cell phone that operates in Europe and was able to call...she did show up about 15 minutes later (but what if I didn't have a cell phone? Hate to think...). Possibly the one thing that I would hesitate, particularly because I was with my wife and two daughters...is the area did make me uncomfortable and I told the owner. Leaving the Lavapies station you end up in the Plaza Lavapies. There is a mixture of some families and some young men who are standing around at the end of the block. With me present, they did not approach us in anyway; however I later learned that when my daughters came back separately from one of their city journeys, they were approached. So unfortunately, I would not rebook here with my family with me. Alone, or with adults, I wouldn't have any issues generally. So would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, a friend with an adult, but not with young kids or teen daughters.

Thank you for your feedback, I highly appreciate it.
I am happy to hear you liked the flat and am sorry about the mix-up when checking in.
Since I lived in this apartment myself for 9 years, I can guarantee an easy communication and centric location.
As for the folks on Plaza Lavapies, I want to ask for your understanding: In southern countries, people use to spend most of their leisure time outside, on the street, in the squares. They gather in a casual way and would most probably communicate with each other, neighbours and tourists. -

I had a wonderful stay in this quiet yet central apartment. It felt like home and it was great coming back to after a day of sightseeing. The apartment is centrally located in a funky part of Madrid, which I loved. Rodrigo was very quick in giving answers to my questions. All in all, a great experience and I would definitely come back to this apartment on a consequent stay in Madrid.

This flat offers amazing connections to all major museums, is located amidst multi cultural restaurants and up and coming venues like Tabacalera.
The concierge took care of both check-in and out, and the owner was available 24/7 for questions and doubts - very professional.

BerlinEnjoyed the apartment and the tour

The apartment was beautiful and relaxing, the patio was very quiet and perfect for a tea after a long day. We took the tour and they showed a lot of interesting places that we wouldn't have visited without it (they even offered a second tour for free through other part of Madrid but we wanted to go to the Prado museum that was amazing).
It was very cold outside, but after 15 minutes the central heating and a hot shower made me feel better, ready for a new day.
I want to go back and travel to Toledo and Segovia, that our host Rodrigo recommended amongst other great places to visit, it was like having a reception desk available at any time, we called him, using the phone at the apartment, and he was there for any question. He send me some maps to help me arrive the first day.
I recommend the city and the nice apartment, but better in the spring time because it is very cold in the winter.
