Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We rented this cabin for three families to stay at during our ski trip weekend and had a blast! The cabin was very clean and cozy and felt very much like a home rather than a blank slate. We were surprised by all that was available to us - including games, books, snacks and ingredients! We appreciated that there was a military rate available for us since all three families were military. The location was really close to the ski resort and made for a quick trip. We loved that the cabin was secluded out back to enjoy the hot tub while the snow fell. Tom and Sue were great hosts in showing us around the cabin and checking in, it was great to have that personal touch. My only tip to future renters would be to write down the directions/turns as you are heading up to the cabin as there are lots of turns and the roads can look alike in the dark. Enjoying your stay will be an easy task at this cabin.

This home felt like home for everyone in the family. The kitchen, bedrooms and board game stock were well appointed. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, the fireplace, and the quaint sound of the running creek. The location of Creek 'n Woods II was just perfect, at the top of a hill on the edge of the development gives it a feeling of remoteness yet in a neighborhood just off the main road to town. Owner Tom made the entire reservation, check in and check out process easy and efficient. We highly recommend this home for people wanting to explore the winter attractions of the Great Smokey Mountains!
Response from Tom & Sue Knapko - 01/18/2013
Owner
Winter is a great time to come to Maggie Valley as you can see from this review. There's great skiing and snowboarding at Cataloochee Ski Resort-the oldest ski resort in the Southeast with top of the line snowmaking equipment. Visitors now have 2 options for 'snow tubing'-Tony's Tube World at Rt 19 and the newly opened Fie Top Flume on Fie Top Road on the way up the mountain to the ski resort. Fie Top Flume uses a synthetic material for its runs and plans on being open year round. And at the end of a day of winter play, you can return to our cabin, turn on the fireplace, take a soak in the outdoor hot tub, and relax. Maggie Valley is a great place for winter FUN-come and see for yourself!

My family and I spent the 2012 Thanksgiving week at Creek 'n Woods 11. It started with a very warm welcome by the best host and hostess we had the privilege of meeting and of course the promised cookies were waiting for us. Tom and Sue's recommendations of places to visit and eat were welcomed and proved to be great. This cabin did not feel like a strange place since it is so cozy, warm and feels lived in yet very clean and spacious. The creek at the side of the cabin gives that positive energy and my children had a great time exploring in and around it.The cabin is surrounded by mountains and sits at the top of one so the views from the top and the bottom were spectacular. I cannot wait to experience another season here. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a place to get away from it all but still be close enough to the fun. You are close enough but far away enough from any other cabin so noise is not an issue.Everyone we encountered at the grocery store(Ingles), the restaurants and parks were so friendly and courteous. We have travelled to many places around the world but Sue and Tom made us feel most welcome.By the time we left I felt like we had made some very good friends with Sue and Tom.

The home was lovely and welcoming. We had everything that we needed for a restful and relaxing stay. The proximity to area natural attractions was very important to us. There were hiking trails in abundance and driving distance varied from 10 minutes to 45 minutes from the cabin. The creek "gurgling" down the hillside is really special, as well as the privacy of the woods. The floor plan of the cabin is perfect and can accomodate up to 8 comfortably. Dinner at the Old Stone Inn, in Waynesville, is a must for anyone...Delicious! Tom and Sue made us feel right at home, they treated us like family and provided home made chocolate chip cookies for our stay! Our family will certainly consider a return visit.

Relaxing, peaceful, quiet... our favorite mountain getaway. Creek 'n Woods is a fantastic retreat. This was our second visit and we enjoyed it just as much or more than the first. Kitchen is well stocked. Hot tub on the deck over looking the woods. The homemade cookies and banana nut bread were delicious. Thanks Tom and Sue for a wonderful vacation. We can't wait to return.

Excellent experience with reservations, check-in and general customer service with this property. The owner is top notch in his desire to make your stay worry free. The home is well stocked and all you need is your suitcase. Relax on the porch and listen to the creek as you read or just relax. The main floor master is great for those that don't like to climb stairs. The fireplace is great to just sit and watch.
The location of this home is perfect to visit all the area has to offer. Lots of good places to eat are close by. The deck and hot tub are in a super setting. You are in the middle of nature, yet just minutes from the main road.
The owners attitude towards making you feel at home is very professional and probably the best I have experienced with any rental property. You can't go wrong! I will revisit this home when I return to this area. -

We planned a small family reunion (two sisters and our brother) with all of our kids (7 of them...yikes!) and decide to meet in the quiet little town of Maggie Valley, NC. My husband and I spent our honeymoon here about 18 years ago and I wanted to see how the town had changed. The area here reminded me why I love North Carolina (even though I now live in Virginia) the Creek and Woods Cabin was simply perfect. I met with Tom to get the key and a quick overview of the area and cabin. The cabin was a welcome retreat after long days of hiking and shopping (of course) in the Great Smokey Mountains. The kids loved to splash around in the hot tub each day after we returned from our adventures. The cabin was spotless and plenty of blankets and comfortable pillows made the nights wonderful. I cannot wait to return! I know that my sister (from Georgia) and brother (from Maryland) had a blast and loved the slow pace that is offered here.
Thanks to Tom for offering a great value and a great plce!

This was the third time we have stayed at Creek n Woods so we were fully prepared for the drill. Nothing but sheer perfection. First we were met by Tom who escorted us to our cabin just to make sure we had no difficulties finding it. We were then greeted with Momma Sue's signature homemade cookies and a welcome note. But the best surprise came the next day when we received a delicious delivery of sticky buns from Momma Sue. We did have a mishap with a appliance but all was fixed before we could make it back to our cabin after a long day of skiing with the kids. The place is always well kept, tastefully decorated and peacefully serene. I loved sitting on the back porch and listening to the creek. On our last day there the kids were even treated to some snow. It was most definitely another memorable vacation.

Creek 'n Woods is a great name for the spot. There's a fast moving creek that looks and sounds beautiful. The home has everything you need to settle right in and start enjoying. It's location allows you to do both the Biltmore and the Smokey Mountain National Park as day trips. The owners are extrememly helpful and ready to quickly attend to anything that comes up. The loft is a fun place for the kids to sleep though as it's open to below it can be hard for them to settle down if people are still up.

Creek'n Woods II is an awesome place to stay while visiting the Maggie Valley area in NC. We recently stayed for a weekend and wish it could have been longer. I chose one of Tom and Sue's houses because they have received such great reviews from everyone. It was everything and more than we expected. You can tell they know what they are doing and make their guest feel like family. (Fresh flowers, hot tub homemade cookies, tour, comfortable beds, games, books, movies, area information and the fact that they are just a phone call away if you need anything makes a stay at their house above the rest.) It is much better than dealing with a reality company. We will definetly be going back next year. I must say the creek is also heavenly that runs right by the house.

Left on 12/30/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Our family met at Creek 'n Woods II for a 4 day Pre-Christmas Celebration in December 2011. The initial purpose of this location was a half way point between our home and my husband's oldest son's home. This was going to be the first Christmas celebration that all 4 of my husband's children attended together. What we found when we arrived was an amazing house/cabin with the most beautiful, serene surroundings decorated for the holidays just as if it were our own home. Every need and comfort was provided for and Tom and Sue could not possibly have been more hospitable if we were their own relatives. Our family had the most amazing (pre) Christmas celebration that even our actual Christmas day seemed to dim in comparison. Everyone enjoyed their time at Creek n' Woods so much that we've already scheduled a return trip for a 2012 (post) Christmas celebration. We look forward to seeing Tom and Sue next year and for many years to come.

The house is conveniently located to shopping and sightseeing, yet very private and quiet, except for the babbling brook that runs along side of the house. Perfect! What an awesome cabin and great owners. The cabin was very clean and completely furninshed with everything needed and more. Tome and Sue are wonderful people and were there for us night and day with any questions we had. They gave us directios to places we wanted to visit and suggestions of on other places to go. I spend 3 days searching for a cabin rental and found this place on day 3. I guess the 3rd time was a charm. I searched hundreds of places and this cabin was our top choice and should be yours. After reading other great reviews we had high hopes for the cabin. It went above and beyond even those espectations. I recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to stay in the Smokies or Blue Ridge Mts. It is minutes away from the city of Waynesville which has many big name stores and a great downtown. It is located close to the Blue Rigde Parkway and the scenic drive of 278 wih many waterfalls. The drive ends in Brevard, another great downtown area. I could not dream of a better vacation. Thank you Tom and Sue for making it a great summer for me.

The setting is lovely, the various decks are spacious,& the sound of the creek induces instant relaxation .
Love being able to have meals at the large covered picnic table om the porch or play board games there.
The interior is quite soothing with lots of natural wood, large comfy sofas & chairs.
All rooms (especially the kitchen) have everything needed to make your visit carefree.
Cleanliness is beyond belief. Simply spotless.
All this is made possible by owners,Tom & Sue Knapko. They bring charm & gracious hospitality to the entire visit~ from arrival (the aroma of freshly baked cookies waiting ) to departure which incidentally is the time we schedule our return visit !!) We love it!
If you wish to get out of the cabin, there are numerous excellent restaurants, activities, shopping, and sightseeing opportunities available. Literally around the corner either in Maggie, Waynesville, Cherokee or ashville.. there is truly something enjoyable for everyone.
We look forward to many more visits @ Creek 'N' Woods II. Thanks to Tom & Sue.

The cabin is delightful! It is wonderfully decorated, extremely well furnished,... a joy to visit. The creek beside the cabin furnishes a wonderfully refreshing sound, like a shower during the summertime, coming across a valley.
It had been so terribly hot where we live - 100(+) degrees for days. The temperature at the cabin never got above 74 degrees. We wanted to bottle it and take it home.
A definite short-list favorite for our next visit. -

I was instantly impressed with the kindness and attention to detail as I booked my reservation with the owner Tom. Once we arrived, Tom and Sue greeted us at the bottom of the mountain to personally escort us to our cabin. We were quite impressed by the size of the beautiful home and it's wrap-around porches complete with rocking chairs and a view of the stream down below. The only thing better than the view and the hot tub, would certainly be the special touches that Tom and Sue, the owners, provided. We found little surprises along the way like the chocolate chip cookies that were baked for us, the Starbucks coffee for us to enjoy while rocking on the porch enjoying the scenery, the fresh cut flowers, and of course the cake complete with candles as we celebrated our parents anniversary! Truly Tom and Sue went over the top to ensure that our stay was one that we would not forget!! They did an outstanding job of making us feel welcome and at home. We will surely return again!! Thank you both!

Morganton, NCCozy, Comfortable, and Perfect!
Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011
For myself and my friends first experience renting a cabin, with our four children we couldn't have asked for anything better. First, Tom and Sue met us to lead the way to the cabin to make sure our first experience was not spent getting lost...great thinking. Second, the cabin was gorgeous..fully stocked with condiments, paper products, even some food. They thought of everything from olive oil to band-aids! And third, the cabin itself was great, especially with kids, the creek was a big hit! We will definitely be staying again! And again! And again!

When we arrived we were meet by Tom and Sue. They greeted us with cookies and friendly smiles. My famiily and I were celebrating my birthday in October, and Sue and Tom supprised us by baking a birthday cake, which was totaly unexpected but very good and appriciated. Our family enjoyed a long week-end at the house, including enjoying the changing leaves in the mountains. We have made this trip to Maggie Valley for the last 6 years duging October to celebrate my birthday, this was the first time staying at Tom and Sue/s cabin but look forward to staying often in the coming years. Tom and Sue are outstanding host and cabin and surroundings are excekkebt,

We found this gem on line and rediscovered how to relax with kids. The owners have thought of all the details for you so all you need to do is enjoy your loved ones in one of the most beautiful places in the mountains of North Carolina. We especially enjoyed the family games and books as well as sitting in the hot tub with the sound of water babbling in the creek by the home We have been back two other times and enjoyed it more and more each time. We also stayed at Creek 'n Woods IV when our group was too big for this home. Thank you Tom and Sue for some wonderful memories with our family.

Over the last nine years my wife and I and and some of our family have stayed at all of the cabins except the very large one. We have never had one complaint about the accommodations or the service.
These are by far the cleanest and most meticulously cared for cabins we have ever rented. All cabins really give the outdoor feeling and have great ammenities. -

We like this cabin so well, I and my friends have been returning to it twice a year (Spring, Fall) going on 7 years now. The relationship we have with Tom & Sue, we feel like extended family. We've never had a complaint about the accommodations. The location lends itself to one feeling rested and relaxed while here. We like to dine in and cook some of our own meals, and find the kitchen well equipped for anything we want to try. This cabin is the perfect example of the type of place I'd love to retire to.
