Description from the owner
Villa Laurentia is a part of a large farming estate named "Tenuta Santa Cristina", situated in the countryside of Rome, in a very convenient position perfect for sightseeing also Umbria and Tuscany.
The Estate is in the heart of the enchanting Sabina Region. Thirty miles north-east of Rome and untouched by mass tourism, this territory is still authentic and unspoilt. Its landscape of gentle hills where agriculture is in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature, is scattered with Roman villas, medieval castles, churches and abbeys.
The villa, nestled in a small and private pine forest, has a large garden and a gazebo- covered p...Read more

Additional Location Information
The Villa is in the heart of the enchanting Sabina Region.
The olive trees have been a constant element of the Sabine landscape since the times of ancient Rome. Extra virgin olive oil, with its european DOP recognition, is the absolute ingredient in the local cuisine, that offers genuine and country style dishes, made with the area’s agricultural products.
Riding schools, golf courses, natural bolted cliffs for free climbing, along with Mount Terminillo, ski resorts and several naturalistic itineraries, are some of the possibilities for sports lovers in an uncontaminated natural environment.
The Reatine Valley, with its Franciscan sanctuaries, Farfa Abbey, for centuries a witness to the power of the Roman Church, the Romanesque churches of Vescovio and Santa Vittoria, the archaeological sites and ancient Roman town of Trebula Mutuesca and Forum Novum, as well as the national parks and the capital city Rieti, are among the many attractions in Sabina.
Along pleasant country roads, you can easily reach breathtaking places still little known by tourism.
The motorway A1, instead, gives easy and quick access to some of the most important artistic sights of central Italy, such as Viterbo, Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia but also Arezzo, Florence and Siena. Rome itself is just a few miles away, and very easy accessibile, in less then one hour, by train or car.

As an extended family we had not met for a while
It was nice to be only one hour's drive from Rome
Meaning we did some tourism in the morning & came back for a late & lazy lunch in the mid afternoon
It is very quiet : you can actually hear the silence
We found is great , as it gave us time to be reacquainted , be simply together
The house is large, well maintained, comfortable
Lovely pool
Stunning , peaceful view ( olive plantation , wineyards & distant farms
Nearby Magliano & Gli angeli offers a great insight into fantastic italian cuisine
We will definetyly come back -

My family of 19 stayed at two villas here: Villa Laurentia and Villa Mary. The location was outstanding, the villas were well furnished and spacious. Daniella and Laurentia were gracious and helpful in getting us settled in. The location is ideal for day tripping, either by car to the gorgeous hill towns or by train to Rome. It was a great experience for my grandchildren and a family memory we will never forget. I highly recommend Tenuta Santa Cristina to anyone wanting to get away from the usual tourist places.

Stayed here with 3 generations (youngest 2 years) for a week at the end of September. We found thye villa clean, comfortable with voews to die for. We hope to return soon.
Information book could do with some updating (eg timetable for getting to Rome which directed us to the wrong station, however that gave us the opportunity to see more of the countryside! -

Would not recommend with young children as there are wasp nests in the eves of the house. Our 18 month old grand daughter spent most of the holiday trying to escape their attention. Most annoying for everyone when trying to sunbathe. We also nearly missed our flight waiting for the maid to arrive with our deposit on departure of the villa. Had to phone 3 times before she finally arrived.

We have stayed every year for I think 7 years in a row. Villa Laurentia has been absolutely perfect for us, always with a very warm welcome from the owners and the housekeeper. The villa is spacious, tasteful, very well set out, excellent for my disabled mother, with several eating areas (full sun, shade, covered, or inside - depending on weather!) and a lovely pool, set amongst olive trees and vineyards. Plenty of walks, and local restaurants. Santa Cristina is ideally situated for excursions to Rome or to the beautiful villages all around.
We will be coming back again when circumstances allow!
