Breckenridge, ColoradoGreat Getaway at Casa Porto Vino
Left on 01/16/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We stayed here for 14 days in January of 2013, with 3 familes of 4, with 3 sets of kids ranging from 6 months to 13 years old. It was great, Casa Porto Vino is very clean and secluded. It's located 25 minutes north of the town of Majahual, down a road through the jungle (the road is actually very well maintained). The biggest issue we had was finding the house on the first night...after flying into Cancun, renting a car, and then driving the 4 hours south to Majahual, trying to navigate in the darkness around midnight to find exactly the right house was tough, and the signage / distances provided in the directions were not great. However once there, we loved this house! Caretaker Ernie was on site at the adjacent house and helped us with everything from catching live bait to taking us into town, to even driving us to a neighbor down the road when we needed a doctor. The house is 10 minutes south of the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve, and is a great combination between beach and jungle living...we looked for jaguars and boa constrictors every night but never found one...biggest animal we saw was a tarantula outside the house! The upsides are you walk out the back door to a fantastic beach, nobody else around it seems in the surrounding houses. The kids, even 6 months old, had fun splashing in the ocean which has no waves due to the reef about 1,000 yeards offshore, and the little miniature sandbars in the ocean mean you can walk out about 50 yards in the ocean and only be up to your shins in the water. We brought our fishing poles and had great success going with Ernie out right off the beach to prime fishing spots, and caught lots of red snapper and Chop Chi fish that we ended up grilling at the house! The rooms were very clean and the house was in great order. Only issues we had were there are no cribs for babies, so we actually had to stop and purchase 2 pack and plays at WalMart in Cancun (and return them before we left!), so it would be great to have this available for families. Once the hot water went off for a while, and the power went out for like a 1/2 hour, but Ernie was there to fix them both in no time. All in all a great getaway. If you like rustic living and seclusion, and to get away from the noise and tourists of Cancun and Tulum, check this place out!

Am on a wonderful one month stay at the Casa Porto Vino. The home is absolutely beautiful(and huge). The grounds and the beach are wonderful. Fully furnished house has everything you could possibly need. Includes a roof top bar, clothesline, kayaks, volley ball court, bbq grill on the wonderful screened in porch, tv and internet. The sand on the grounds and the beach is great. Nice snorkelling very close by. A very personable and helpful on site, English speaking (American)caretaker lives on the grounds and is there to help with anything you may need or want. A great little restaurant/bar is down the beach several hundred yards if you don't feel like cooking. The quaint village of Majahual is a scenic 30 min. drive away. I would highly recommend a stay at his wonderful home/location to anyone.

This was the most remarkable and relaxing and fun vacation I have ever had!!! The house and the property are amazing - beautiful sun rises, powdery sand , crystal clear water, soft surf, constant soft breeze - fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, hammocks - it was perfect!! The house is as clean as it is gorgeous as is all the landscaping. I subscribe to Coastal Living magazine - each day I was there was a page out of the magazine - cannot be topped. Can't wait to go back!!

Everything was just perfect. Our stay was remarkable with everything there for us to make our time most relaxing & memorable. The home is clean & had all of the amenities we needed. The snorkeling & kayaking were awesome & right off the beach. The property caretaker is a great guy who attended to all of our needs & provided info we needed on the local flare. We highly recommend folks take full advantage of this "spectacular" destination vacation. The Heinel-Manghisi Family

Casa Porto Vino is a wonderful site. The grounds are large and private. We spent many hours outside playing bocci-ball, volley ball, walking the beach, kayaking. The snorkeling is unbelievable and the reef is very close.
The home is large and beautifully furnished. There is a very large screened porch facing the ocean which is great for playing games. There were 8 of there for one week and we all had good space.
The location is remote and is a long drive from the airport but it is Paradise once you arrive. I highly recommend it. -

Holt, Michigan USAA beautiful "home away from home"
Left on 02/10/2012 for a stay in August 2010
To celerbrate my retirement, my husband and I took our three adult children and their significant others to Mexico for a week in august, 2010. We stayed a Case Porto Vino and all we can say is "wow". This is a beautiful home on two acres of beautiful secluded beach. While it somewhat difficult to find (especially since we arrived after dark), it is well worth the drive down the beach road from Majahual. The kitchen is beautiful and equipped with everything we needed to cook our own meals; there is even a gas grill on the enormous wrap around porch (where we spent most of our time). Robin was very helpful and accomodating in giving us a free night and providing very detailed instructions on how to find the home. Unfortunately, we did arrive after dark (not recommended)which made it somewhat difficult to find the home. The rooftop deck is amazing for stargazing. We would difinately stay here again if traveling with a group.

We had great fun combing the beaches for sea beans and shells. We cooked a lot there, but also went to Mahuhual for lunches and shopping.
Screen porch across the entire beach side of the house is wonderful. We spent most of our time there enjoying the sea air.
Loved sleeping with doors open and hearing the ocean.
