    Additional Location Information

Casa Blanca Caribe was designed as a stilt home to provide amazing views and cooling breezes year round. It is a new home with a clean uncluttered feeling. The lot is deep and full of huge coconut palms, so there is no noise from the beach road, only the sounds of the surf, breeze, and birds on Sapphire Beach. The sea in front of the home is a gradual drop to the reef system. Free of turtle grass, the sandy bottom and waves are perfect for playing in the water

      Quiet and restful family vacation

Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We are the kind of travelers who like a more solitary vacation spot - with a preference for immersing ourselves in our surroundings at our choosing. This house was perfect for that. It is roughly 22-25 minutes from Mahahual. It is close enough for the odd grocery run, or trip to Chacchoben (60 miles away), or Xcalak (also an hour).

We had lots of space, quiet and beach to ourselves. Our young child could play on the beach, build sand castles or swim with us. The kayak was fantastic, as well. We did a lot of walking - saw lots of shells, crabs, and other sea life. There is also a small tidal pool area just 5 minutes south of the house. The serenity is unbeatable. At night, the stars are worth watching without light pollution. You don't often see them so clearly. It was also great to be able to go running (going north) every day along the road behind the house.

The house itself has the comforts of home, but mindful of the Mexican environment. It makes use of solar and wind power - and kind to the water supply. We cooked all but two of our meals and had what we needed (having stocked up for food in Chetumal then just buying small things locally).

We had a family of four (grandparent, small child, two adults) and the space was perfect. Two spacious bedrooms, tastefully decorated and lots of windows/doors for the sea air to travel around the house. We slept well with the ocean's sounds coming through the house at night.

All in all: a superb stay and highly recommended.
