Have you ever dreamed of living in your very own sand-castle by the sea? If so, we have the perfect place for you! The majestic Casa Playa Maya is a stunning 3 bedroom 3 bathroom villa, located at arguably the best Caribbean beach in all of Costa Maya, Puerto Angel. Its enticing castle-like facade grows out of the alabaster sand as the gentle waves, crystal clear waters and coconut palms complete the scene to help make this dramatic beach home an ideal vacation destination.

Tall glass doors line the entire beach side of this home on the ground floor, allowing you to step out onto your tiled terrace from any room, with an uninterrupted... view of the lapping waves and turquoise water. The main level features a fully equipped spacious kitchen, complete with a full sized refrigerator/freezer, oven, stove, microwave, numerous small appliances, walk-in pantry, tiled countertop which seats three leading to the dining room, with seating for six. The beautifully variegated hardwood table and chairs were locally handcrafted and not only serve as a perfect dining station, but they also create a wonderful place for playing cards, dominos or board games which we have provided for your enjoyment.

The design of this beach home allows for the sea breeze to freely flow throughout the entire home, providing your haven with a fresh and airy feel. On the rare occasions that the air seems still, ceiling fans throughout the casa will help to keep you comfortable, even in this tropical climate. Although rarely needed, all three bedrooms have air conditioning units that can be run with the use of the generator if you choose.

Another favorite place to be in this fabulous beach home is on the rooftop! Accessible from the upper lounge, ascend the 'caracol' staircase to a breathtaking delight. Stretch out onto comfy cushions topping the built-in concrete sofas under the dappled shade of the lanai or swing in your hammock in the sunshine of this outdoor living area offering privacy, amazing breezes and incredible bird watching. This wonderfully serene space also makes a great place for practicing yoga, tai chi and meditation, as well as affording sun-seekers the opportunity to even out their tan lines in peace. From here, expect sublime sunrise vistas of the Caribbean coastline boasting birdseye views of the world famous Mesoamerican Reef to the east, not to be topped by the peaceful sunsets over the mystical Mayan jungle to the west.

This eco-friendly home is completely off the grid so it enjoys the use of solar power with a back up propane-fueled generator; propane also fuels the stove & hot water tank. Casa Playa Maya's water is collected in an underground cistern and is replenished with rainwater. For these reasons, we ask you to be mindful of the situation by turning off ceiling fans & lights when leaving a room, unplugging your laptop computer & cell phones when fully charged, utilizing opportunities to conserve water whenever possible, and so on. Our solar system is very efficient and has proven to be more than adequate for most scenarios; however, there may be times when overcast conditions deem it necessary to utilize the generator to charge the batteries. Don't worry, shifting into 'eco-mode' is not really hard at all & we are happy to provide you with helpful hints and tips to become super [solar] empowered, if you would like! Many visitors here enjoy the calm that comes with the soft glow of candlelight while dining and relaxing after the sun goes down, but knowing you have a system that can handle watching TV, playing on your computer and utilizing the ceiling fans and lighting well after dark, is always a comfort.

While relaxing at your villa, you'll enjoy a very private untouched and natural beach where you can experience amazing brain corals & encounter spectacular sea-life when snorkeling & fishing right off the shore. Swimming here in Puerto Angel is truly a pleasure with it's clean and sandy ocean floor, free of turtle grass.

Located just 15km south of the Mayan fishing village & Mexico's favorite cruise ship destination of Mahahual, Casa Playa Maya offers you the best of both worlds. While in Puerto Angel, you'll have a very private alabaster beach shared only with an occasional passerby, enjoying your spectacular villa with many conveniences of home, in an idyllic environment that few travelers have ever had the pleasure of seeing.~~~~~Then on the other hand, when you are ready for a more social & diverse atmosphere, a 40 minute scenic ride up the beach road or a 20 minute paved rode drive into the town of Mahahual, will provide you with a wide variety of delectable delights from this region and around the globe. The heavy Mayan influence here in this southernmost tip of Quintana Roo is peppered with a range of settlers from all over the world, which provides for a colorful stroll of sights, sounds & smells on Mahahual's beach walkway, the Malecon.~~~~~On days when cruise ships are visiting, the entire town springs to life. Handmade tortillas and freshly caught fish can be purchased daily and you will find assorted sundries as well as your “farmacia” needs. Don't forget to drive through Caty's “El Barrill” on the way home for your cold beer, sodas, snacks and ice cream bars.~~~~~The 2nd largest barrier reef system on our planet, the Mesoamerican Reef, stretches over 1000 km from Isla Contoy at the northern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula down to the Bay Islands of Honduras, and it protects all of Costa Maya as well as the 'Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve', our northern border. This area is known for it's world-class diving and the famous atoll reef, Banco Chinchorro, is a mere 2 hours away and is a magical and special treat for divers and snorkelers alike.~~~~~Lake Bacalar and Cenote Azul are just 1 1/2 hours away and are not to be missed. The BioMaya Zipline tour is nearby and guided kayak/canoe trips, bicycle tours and jungle walks to explore the beautiful lake and its surroundings are also available.~~~~~The Mayan ruins within 1-2 hours away that are well worth visiting are Chacchoben, Dzibanché and Kohunlich. They're not too crowded and the jungle surroundings are absolutely magnificent. Whether you like to explore on your own, or you choose to have a guided tour, you are sure to make memories for a lifetime.~~~~~Chetumal, the capitol city of Quintana Roo, is 2 hours away and is filled with rich Mayan culture. It is Mahahuals' 'big city' for all of the supplies that are not found here in our sleepy little 'pueblo'. The markets and museums on Av. Heroes, are a great place for traditional souveniers at an affordable price. If that is not enough, you can always pop into Belizes' 'Zona Libre' for a wide array of duty-free delights in over 300 stores & try your luck in any one of the three casinos.   Casa playa maya is a place where you can set yourself free for the first moment of your stay. Is one place in the coast of México in a very isolate area where privacy is the luxury. A lot of space in the house, so comfortable and inspirational , for me it was a break throw for ideas to come and for things I am accomplish now. This time I have a clear idea to see what exactly I need on my job and the things I want to achieve as a designer. I suggest to come to costa maya spend a few days and I can tell you for sure that you are going to have an excellent holiday and great memory of costa maya in the deepest zone of mayan culture.

  This is a nice place to spend a week, two or three. I stayed 3 on my own and couldn't get enough. Days can go by very quickly. Morning snorkelling before breakfast its the best way to start everyday, the coral reef is literally in your front yard, all family can safely go. There is always something different to see and explore, the water temperature is great throughout the year. The Internet connection has no issues so I was able to keep up with my work while being in a paradise-like area. Its a fully functional house with all modern services, so its juts as comfortable as being home but with the turquoise Caribbean ocean a few yards away. The rooftop at sunset time is a must everyday. Town is 20 minutes away by car so its easy to get everyday supplies or going to small restaurant. There is only one other house nearby, but it feels like you are the only house in miles around, not quite true but the feeling is that, all that space is for you only to enjoy. Very peaceful, great for creative people, great for holiday but also great for working. You have to mind that you are "in the wild", its no insects or animals free (who would want that anyway?), so there are very interesting creatures to see, in land and under the water, where its actually packed of life! So yeah, great experience, I might go back again if I can, I hoping to do so in the next year or two. Cheers!
