The Hawaiian Princess was the perfect get a way destination. With the hustle and bustle of work in California wearing us down, my friend and I needed a relaxing, non-touristy vacation. Makaha was a wonderful "local" experience. We spent the majority of our time on Oahu on the west side (with a couple trips to the North Shore for Matsumoto's Shave Ice mixed in) We stopped on our way to the condo to stock up on supplies at Cost Co and Safeway in Kapolei and during the week picked up things at local Tamuras and Longs Drugs.
The condo had a fully stocked kitchen, many beach amenities and the convenience of an in unit washer/dryer. The views from the lanai, the sounds of the waves and the seclusion of the semi-private beach were just what the doctor ordered to melt away our stress. We felt so relaxed within the first 24 hours of our stay !!
Although many locals utilize the bus system, if you plan on doing any hiking, sightseeing, renting a car is recommended (free gated parking at the condo) A 45-60 minute drive from Waikiki and honolulu, sightseeing is still very do-able, however once getting to the Princess and seeing the turtles, the beach and sunsets, you may not want to leave the property !!
I will definitely stay here again next time I make a trip to Oahu and would recommend it highly to anyone who needed a quiet get a way, -

This was a last min booking for us after another condo in the area dropped us. The Maxwell's condo and the unit worked out nicely. Good location, much better than staying in Honolulu. The unit was nicely appointed and the beach was great! The best thing about staying in Makaha is how many nice beaches are on the West side if the island and how uncrowded they are!
Great choice for a condo and vacation. -

The staff and security was extremely helpful. The property was well kept and maintained. Other guest that we met were friendly and appeared pleased with their units. The location was very much out of the tourist area. There was a full service grocery store a couple of miles away and a Costco about 15 miles away. We had a corner unit with a fantastic view. Our unit was in serious need of an upgrade and make over. It was clean but because of the condition of the carpets and bedding and some kitchen items, I would have reservations about recommending this particular unit. That said if fit our needs to visit with family who were close by.

This is our third year staying at the Hawaiian Princess, and we love it! Every room is beach/ocean front with all lanai's facing the beautiful Pacific. It is not crowded at the beach or the pool with less than a handful of people there are at any time. It is far away from Waikiki, about forty-five minutes, which is what we want, but for anyone who doesn't want to drive, this would be a definite no. It is peaceful, quiet, and serene. Just what we both needed. We will not stay anywhere else on the island.

A bit out of the way, but has a great beach, is very secure and the other renters/owners are very nice. I would suggest this place.

We received this rental as a gift for our honeymoon. The staff is very friendly. The place was nice--not 4 stars nice, and definitely in need of updating, but overall nice. The first day we were there, we were on the beach and witnessed a double rainbow! The area is gorgeous, yet private. There are usually no more than 4 families on the beach at any time. The place also has a pool, W/D in unit, and free wi-fi in the lobby. However, if you plan on doing anything (like nice dinners or any attractions), you definitely need a car (vs staying at Waikiki-which is full of cabs and attractions come pick you up at your hotel) and everything is at least 30 min drive away. However, if you're just going for the beach and the not-commercialized experience, it is great. I would highly recommend it for a vacation!

Could not have imagined a more beatiful scenic beach. The condo was eqipped better than my own home. Everything from clothes iron to kitchenware was provided. Can't wait to go back will definitely be coming back! A much better value than the overcrowded Waikiki which at the same time is not to far away. Aloha The Rainey's
