Description from the manager
A Note from The Owners: Our dream-come-true was to have a unit directly overlooking the beach at Makena Surf. We can literally talk to each other from the lanai to the beach! We did a remodel which, among other features, allows us to push all the glass doors back into the wall and open the entire living room to the lanai and the postcard-perfect view. You can listen to the waves sitting at the desk in the living room on your computer (use our printer and complimentary high-speed Internet access!) or you can enjoy every meal and Mai Tai on the lanai watching the swaying palm trees & the turtles popping their heads up out of the water. EdmontonBeautiful Location, Substandard Interior
Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This property is located in one of the nicest places in Maui. The view from the Lanai is beautiful. Unfortunately the downside of staying at this unit was the interior. Overall it needed a good scrubbing and renovation. The kitchen was nicely updated, but not user friendly as it had a lot of volume of tools, but not good tools. Beds were extremely uncomfortable and colorful cloth bedcovers are unsanitary. My recommendation for ali'i Resorts is when charging premium rates for this beautiful location, update and clean the interior to reflect the same standard. Sidenote: book interior pest control when tenants are not in the unit.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. Your comments have been received by the condo manager and steps have been made to improve the condo. The kitchen inventory has been accessed and many items removed and replace with new such as all new tupperware and pots and pans. The queen and twin bed in the guest bedroom have been replaced with new and the master bed is only a few years old. We would like to thank you for helping us make this condo one of the best in South Maui.

Sherman Oaks, CaliforniaSpectacular view, great lanai, terrific beach proximity, icky co
Left on 03/15/2012 for a stay in March 2012
The view is stunning, couldn't be any closer to the beach, which we loved! The snorkeling is some of the best on the island, we saw many turtles and even heard whale songs when we put our heads underwater. The rainy days, we lounged on the lanai and it was perfect. The linens are much improved from our last ali'i Resorts stay in 2010. The bed in E-205 was very comfortable. The kitchen was modern, but some of the equipment was broken or missing. I almost cut my lip on one of the many chipped glasses! The cleaning staff was friendly and thorough. But...the whole place just felt kind of icky. Paint peeling everywhere, old crusty bathtub with jacuzzi (yuck, who would want to sit in that?), living room furniture old, uncomfortable and smelly. We wanted to watch TV in the living room, but the furniture was really gross, so we just watched the TV in the bedroom. And little nagging notes everywhere, telling you to do this or not to do that...it was very annoying, seeing as how the condo was so gross. Felt like the owners had no respect for us at all. We'll go back to the Makena Surf, but we won't be back to this condo until the owner renovates!

White City, Saskatchewan, CanadaTreat yourself: once in a lifetime location ...
Left on 01/11/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We arrived New Yrs day 2012 and were stunned by the location. Perfect! Beachfront but facing somewhat NW so the harsh sun was avoided through the living room window/s all day.
Comfortable, cozy, pristine beach ... with a minimum of one beach wedding/day, more often two. (returned home and was watching "Say Yes to the Dress" and noted that one wedding was right in front of this condo) Snorkelling was fantastic, on our last day we saw 5 turtles. The pool? Super! Not freezing cold, not too warm, just right. (there's two, we used the one closest)
Housekeeping staff were wonderful. I certainly hope they're given a pat on the back for their hard work. Due to time differences I was up at 4 a.m. most days and noted security walking the pathways and perimeter/s. (if that's something you're concerned about, I wasn't)
This was a long overdue vacation w two teenagers (14 & 16)who aren't likely going to want to hang with the "old folks" in years forthcoming. We wanted to make memories and certainly did with this location.
Liked best: location & *quiet* = no partyers
Liked least: price! :) (you get what you pay for, this is Maui oceanfront folks ... these condo's sell for over $2M ..)
Aloha!

Great beach, swam with turtles, wonderful snorkeling. Little disappointed in quality of furnishings of the unit, but we loved the location.

We've visited Maui numerous times and this unit was the best. The only reason I ranked "only" 4 stars on value is because... well the unit is pricey! But you get what you pay for and though this property was a big splurge for our family in terms of price it was well worth it since we were looking for a quiet and restful complex away from the busier resort areas. The unit was very well appointed, with very nice furnishings and a spacious lanai with a killer view. Alii Resorts was very accommodating, with our agent waiting there at the condo to greet us after our flight was delayed for hours.
