I've stayed at this unit before. It's convenient, walking distance to the village mountain center, restaurants, general store, and the gondola. Nice balcony that overlooks Minaret Road. Front door leads into the secured indoor hallway. The common door that leads out is right next to this unit and one morning someone was banging on the door. Underground and secured parking is one of the main reasons I stay there and this unit is one of the closest units to parking, which makes it convenient to load and unload luggage and dump trash. Bathroom is a tad small. There was pet hair flying around when the dining room heater was turned on and found hair in the bedroom on the comforter. Couldn't get the fireplace going however still had a nice stay.

My son and I enjoyed our short stay at the Fireside. Nice unit close and convenient to everything. Love the underground parking. Comfortable bed and decor. My only complaint would be the Internet reception. It only works intermittently in certain parts of the unit and will not work at all in the family room. Other then that, a nice experiernce and we will stay there again.
Thank you so much for your review! New internet FiOS cables are being put in right now by the "Digital 395 Project". They have made it as far north as Crowley Lake. Mammoth has been out of bandwidth for about 4 years now. We've had residences on a waiting list with Verizon for years to even get internet service at all... Welcome to 1999! Internet in Mammoth should greatly improve this summer with the completion of this project. Thank you again and we'll hope to see you next time!

The good: This condo is the perfect location, albeit close to the busy building entrance and the street. We found access to the gondola and faux village worth the noise. However, the decor is very dated. Sofas, kitchen, counter tops...all old. The carpets are shag plush and smelled of carpet cleaner. There was no Wifi, a big bummer. Although the sheets were clean, the bedding and furniture looked to be from 1994. Also, we found the rejected 10am checkout request on Easter morning to be excessively inflexible. Read more
Response from Mammoth Reservation Bureau - 04/12/2013
Thank you so much for the review! We'll forward on your suggestions for upgrades to the owner of this rental unit. Unfortunately, we had the next renters here in the office waiting to check-in after you so we had to uphold the 10am check-out time. When the rentals are not booked back-to-back, we always let guests stay until 12-1pm if they wish. Internet is Mammoth is straight from 1999... Luckily, they are finally running Fios cables up here via the Digital 395 project. Should be complete this summer. We've had residences on a 3-year waiting list to even get service at all, the bandwidth is completely tapped out! Thank you again so much and we'll hope to see you for your next visit!
Right in the heart of the Village

I've stayed at another unit at the Fireside and I prefer this one because it has a balcony and views overlooking Minaret Road. All the rooms are spacious except for the bathroom. Very clean and recently painted. The fireplace is a wood burning fireplace with firestarter sticks and would in and stacked in the balcony. If you can get it started makes for a cozy day or night in especially during the winter. Parking is covered, which is great during heavy snowfall. Security locks all around the condo building, pool area, and parking. Walking distance to all the restaurants, ticket center, and gondola. Unit rate per night is reasonable. I always reserve through MRB - they have great customer service and have a variety of available units all around the city.
A nice unit, but thin walls.

Nice condo. Good location. Parts of the unit had been recently redone, like the nice looking fireplace (although we could never get a fire going, but that might be due to our own inability!). A queen in the bedroom and a pull out couch, which was fairly comfortable as far as pull outs go. New fireplace and two nice flatscreen Tv's. The kitchen was well-equiped. Only two things kept this unit from a higher rating. The heater in the living room worked slowly; it was not on when we arrived in the evening, so the room was still freezing when we went to sleep 4 hours later (sad for the person on the pull out who had bundle up in a jacket to sleep!) Once the living room heated up though, the heater worked great the rest of the weekend. The second thing was that you also get a lot of noise in this unit. The walls are thin and this unit is located right by the building entrance, and there seemed to lots of kids running above us. The windows also face to the street, so there's lots of late night noise from bar hoppers heading home.
The Mammoth Reservation Bureau with whom we booked the reservation was great. Very friendly, professional, and easy to deal with.
