Los AngelesCozy Condo Close to Canyon Lodge
Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We visited Mammoth for New Year's 2013 and stayed for five days at this condo.
The location of this condo is great - a mere 5 minute walk to Canyon Lodge and you are right at the slopes! This worked out great since we have little ones. Also, the austria Hof House is walking distance. The heated pool and jacuzzi soothed the muscles after a day of snowboarding. Parking was reasonable. The shuttle stop was nearby if you needed to get to the Village. The condo was warm when we arrived, a big bonus since it was 10 degrees outside!
Additional bonuses include the kitchen and bathroom. We needed a kitchen for our family of four and it came with everything we needed - dishwasher, soap, coffee (K-Cups), paper towels, cookware, dishware, utensils, etc. The bathroom was equally supplied and offered a separate shower and prep area. Both were very clean. Firewood was supplied and an outside balcony offered some free roaming space for the kids to play. The layout worked very well as the bedroom and living rooms were on separate sides of the unit.
However, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the mattress in the bedroom and the mattress of the fold-out couch. They were both old and uncomfortable. To make matters worse the bedding in the fold-out couch was not cleaned properly. An extra comforter would have been handy during our stay as well. There were sufficient pillows.
The flue to the fireplace was hard to work out the first night. We contacted the management and they fixed it first thing in the a.m.
Overall, it was a great experience for my family that will be etched in our memories. I would have given it 5 stars if the beds were in better shape! -

Chamonix is an older complex in Mammoth that has undergone renovations in recent years. This one bedroom condo has been refurbished and remodeled, very comfortable for two to four people. We had a problem with the kitchen faucent and Mammoth Reservations was out the next day to fix it - repair personnel very nice, accomodating

Arcata, CAExcellent location, comfortable.
Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in March 2011
The negatives: the provided fire started didn't work to start a fire; the DVD player didn't work as directed (we could never make it function); the number and variety of condiments (salt, sugar, oil, etc) was far less than we usually find in Vrbo rentals.
Positives: Comfortable beds, clean, outstanding location, good lighting, functional Wi-Fi.
We'd stay there again -

Manhattan BeachEasy walking distance to Canyon Lodge
Left on 01/12/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We stayed in this condo in early January. We picked it because it's lose to Canyon Lodge, and it really is-- we walked it with two small kids each day. The condo itself was fine, and parts of it have even been remodeled, like the kitchen and the floors, both of which were nice and new. It had huge new flat screen tvs and a dvd player. It could use new furniture, especially the pullout sofa and its mattress (which was old and not especially clean), and new bedding all around. The only other negative was the wall heater-- it's hard to set correctly. Overall, it worked out great, as we were hardly in the condo, and the cost was less than half of what the Village or the Westin would have been.

The unit is great and will stay again; the weather conditions were extreme as we all know!!! Not having snow removal for 2 days was tough and also no shovels available.

Everything as advertised at chamonix #79. Very comfortable. I wish people stored their firewood somewhere else other than their deck. No view, but we weren't expecting one from a ground floor unit.

Left on 02/25/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Our family has stayed at several different condo's in the Chamonix complex.
While this is an older complex, all of the units we have stayed in, including this
one were just great. This one was close to the skiing (walking distance) and
was well appointed. Not "luxury" but warm and comfortable. There was a
problem with the fireplace in that there appeared to be a blockage in the
damper leaving the fire box un-useable.
We enjoyed our stay and would rent this unit again. -

Los AngelesGreat location
Left on 02/06/2010 for a stay in January 2010
The location is fantastic, just less than a 5 minute walk to Canyon Lodge from our front steps. The unit was clean and everything was as advertised. I'd definitely stay here again for future trips. The only dampener about the unit was that on our first night of arrival, as we were settling in and trying to get the fireplace started, the chimney had apparently been blocked up by the heavy snow storm from the few days prior, and smoke enveloped our entire living room, triggering the fire alarm in the hallway. This was at 12:30am, so I'm guessing the other residents weren't too happy. The fire department had to come, and it took almost an hour for all the smoke to clear our unit. Not the most auspicious way to start the weekend, but all in all the stay was very enjoyable.

The place was comfortable, priced well, well-appointed and very enjoyable. I had difficulty getting the heater in the living room warm enough, but definitely adequate.
Thank you. Very much enjoyed the stay. Would recommend and would surely rent again.

Ilove the service Mammoth Premier Reservations provide. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Chamonix 79 is very cozy and comfortable with flat panel TV's in the living room and bedroom. My wife and I will definitely make it our vacation home away from home.

Arcadia, CaliforniaVery Nice Unit
Left on 04/15/2009 for a stay in April 2009
We enjoyed our 4 nights' stay for my son's Spring Break. It is very nicely furnished with two flat panel TVs, satellite, cable, DSL and even a cool mist humidifier and within walking distance to ski lifts. My nice friend owns a unit near by who made us breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday so we never cooked here but the kitchen is also well furnished.
Will I consider renting this unit again next time? YES.
