Northfield, MNGreat Stay!
Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We stayed in apartment Belvedere for 5 nights. We liked it very much for the following reasons:quiet, lots of windows that open, a view of the water, sunset views from the balcony, reasonable price for time of year, out the back door two nearby "viewing areas", one overlooks the ocean and the train tunnel, the other is out to the right and winds around to expansive views of the water and sunset. The location is perfect because you are very much in a local neighborhood and one can see real life unfold...evening card players, local knitters chatting, men and women deeply involved in the grape harvest which seems to be very serious business.
This was our second stay in the Manarola. I like both places were we stayed, but this one was better because of the local color. I would definelty stay here again.
The owner lives in the upper floors of the building. We met her briefly. She is gracious and we deduced she wants her clinets to be happy despite our communication barrier.
There was another apartment next to ours. I did get a glimpse of it. It was much bigger than ours and very nice too, but I liked ours better, cozier, I guess.
Do know that the balcony adjoins the balcony in the next apartment with a just a railing to separte the two. We hung up a makeshift visual barrier as soon as we got there just to establish personal space. We really never saw or heard any one on the balcony during our 5 nights there, and the apartment next to us was rented. So wse did not see this as a problem at all though we thought it might be.
Arbaspaa, the agency that markets the apartment was very nice people, easy going and willing to please and help.
All in all this was a great place for us to kick back and enjoy Cinque Terre. -

Lovely position and view from tiny balcony, but there was a problem with ants and the kitchen facilities were poor: No microwave and only a few cooking utensils. The toilet had a persistant sewerage smell.

This was a lovely place - fully equipped kitchen, such a gorgeous balcony with a view of the sea. Also great central location in Manarola, and the service was very friendly and efficient. Very romantic and everything we'd hoped for.

we enjoyed staying in this apt. It is in a great location, with a gorgeous view from the balcony. I would stay here again. There is no stove but there is a coffee maker and refrigerator and plenty of food in town so no problem.

Berkeley, CAGreat view from a perfect apartment
Left on 06/08/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My husband and I spent three nights at the Belvedere apt in Manarola. The staff from arbaspaa could not have been better. Elisa, in particular, was very responsive to the many emails we sent prior to our arrival in Italy. She replied to our inquiries very promptly and helped us pick a place that would suit our needs. The arbaspaa office was easy to find (just steps from the train station exit) and Elisa personally walked us to the apartment upon arrival.
As other reviewers pointed out, the apartment is not huge, but was plenty spacious for our purposes with ample storage for clothes, toiletries, and food. After living out of a suitcase for awhile, it was nice to unpack and get organized.
The kitchen had everything we needed and more. We cooked a hearty breakfast in the morning, which we ate on the terrace (off the bedroom) to enjoy the view of the ocean. Then we prepared lunches to take with us and hit the road exploring the towns of Cinque Terre. We opted to have dinner out at local restaurants, but the kitchen was definitely equipped enough had we wanted to prepare dinners there as well. (Tip: Be sure to ask the arbaspaa staff about the hours of the local markets, as they close for a stretch during the afternoon.)
Others complained about the accessibility of the apartment, but we were pleasantly surprised. The higher up you go, the better the view, right? Belvedere was perfectly situated in the middle. We were only a five to ten minute walk from "downtown" Manarola (small supermarket, restaurants, cafes, and other shops), the train station, and the water. But we were removed enough to enjoy a gorgeous view of the water from the patio.
We visited all five towns and Manarola was our favorite. It felt the least touristy, but was still tourist friendly. -

Manarola is a wonderful town.
The "Belvedere" apartment was really comfortable and clean.
If you plan to go to "cinque terre" contact arbaspaa and you 'll be very satisfied, they provide an over the top service.

Stayed for 14 nights at this apartment to try and experience what its like living here. Apartment was great. A bit small but thats ok. Great landlords--fixed a minor shower problem in minutes. Met many locals who we have befriended. Great people--great town. We feel its the nicest of all 5 Cinque Terre towns. You feel very comfortable in Manarola. Great hikes all over the hills here. Did not have a car so we used the trains a lot. Great food no matter where you go. Aristide was our favorite restaurant--say hi to Musa and Matea when you go. Be sure to stop in Bramante for some fabulous music. This entire area is hilly so be prepared for that. Would recommend Manarola and apartment Belvidere to anyone without hesitation.

Burlington, MANice apartment, not perfect
Left on 11/14/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Appartamento Belvedere is a bit of a hike -no stairs, but uphill, so not for the infirm. Lovely view out the tiny balcony. We found it to be a bit dark - no lights to read by at night and hardly any lamps during the evening. We were lucky not to be stuck in the apartment during rainy weather. The shower leaked through the wall into the kitchen floor, but the owner came and sealed it with silicone, and then it was fine. People at arbaspaa were very kind and helpful, the bed was comfortable, good space for two people. Any more would be a bit crowded. Manarola is beautiful, and the Cinqueterre are lovely.

Apartment very well located. Small terrace with amazing view.
Staff gets a+++ for their overall service that went far above and beyond the call of duty regarding some luggage lost by alitalia and the help offered with phone calls and internet availability on our behalf. Thanks for everything. Richard Gerstl and Stuart Cox -

Apartemente Belvedere was a great place to stay. It was clean, spacious and had a comfortable bed. I loved sleeping with the balcony doors open but the shutters closed to hear the waves crashing all night. We liked Manarola the best out of all the towns in the Cinque Terre. It was very quiet and maybe the most authentic of all the towns with the fewest touristy shops. We loved the swimming area in the marina, and spent a lovely afternoon jumping in and out of the warm blue water.

We were three adults staying in this wonderfully located appartment for 5 nights in July. Although fairly basic, it was more than adequate for our needs. Sitting on the balcony morning, noon or night was well worth the climb up the hill to get there which, to be fair, is characteristic of all of Manarola. Congratulations to Manarola and the staff at arbaspaa (who were more than helpful) for a wonderful holiday.

OhioAdequate accommodations - Excellent location
Left on 08/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Probably the best way to describe our recent stay at apartamento Belvedere is that it was "adequate". The thing to remember here is that this should be a place to clean up and lay your head at night! If that's your expectation, it's fine. The balcony was tiny, but sufficient to sit on and take in the beautiful view and sounds of the ocean. The apartment was a little on the "dingy" side - definitely in need of a few "refreshing touches", but I've stayed in much worse. Again, you shouldn't be going to the Cinque Terre and spending a lot of time inside your abode! Belvedere was a cozy little apartment that gave us a pretty comfortable place to sleep and clean up after a day of hiking and exploring. We were there four nights and figured out the little idiosyncrasies of the place. Ants are annoying in the kitchen this time of year, but not a deal-breaker (bug spray is provided & keep open bags of food, etc. in the oven or little fridge & above all, keep cleaned up after yourself!). Don't aim the shower water into the corner or the water penetrates the cracked grout and seeps into the kitchen! You've been warned! :)
Are we happy with our visit to 5 Terre? Of course - it was spectacular! Would we select Belvedere to stay at next time? Probably not, but considering we booked late during high season, we were happy to have it this time. The price was good and it provided us a suitable base of operations. Manarola is in my opinion an ideal place to stay for a trip to 5 Terre - centrally located and good places to eat. Just the right size too (but that's entirely subjective!). Enjoy the spectacular beauty of this place and don't get hung up on where you sleep! Can't wait to get back there again. -

Belvedere is a small, simple appartment and perfect for a week exploring the Cinque Terre. A washing machine would have been helpful, but there's not really room. I wouldn't recommend it for the unfit as there are many steps, but then that is the case all over the area. Arbaspaa were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful, particularly when we had phone problems, and the owners, who live above, were charming. Watching the sun go down over Monterosso from the little balcony was very special and Billy's fish restaurant nearby, was excellent, if a bit expensive.

Left on 05/11/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We've stayed in two villages, both times three days, en we liked the most the Manarola village. We think, Manarola is the most authentic of the 5terre. The appartment was wel placed, not very comfortable, with only a very tiny terrace, but we liked being there very mutch. We liked sitting on the littele terrace, enjoying the beautifull sight. The people of arbaspaa were very kind.

Melbourne, AustraliaGreat location, very pleasant and comfortable
Left on 11/30/2010 for a stay in November 2010
While modest, the apartment had everything we needed, and had a wonderful view to wake up to each day, but if you're not good on hills, it's a very steep climb up, especially dragging suitcases. The bed was comfortable, the heating was fantastic, especially for drying clothes, the living area was adequately comfortable. The kitchen area was tiny but manageable. The bathroom was tiny, but the shower was good. We had a bit of trouble with the gas stove but the owner came and fixed it promptly. We were able to get free WiFi on our phones, so had access to email and the web, but couldn't get the computer to access it.
Local food shopping had everything we needed and the staff were pleasant and helpful to us as non-Italian speakers. Arbaspaa's directions on getting there from the station were excellent, especially given that we arrived late at night, and check-in next morning was cheerful and efficient. If it hadn't rained for 3 of the 6 days we were there it would have been perfect, but arbaspaa can't be blamed for that! -

Left on 09/13/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We stayed one week in the apartment. It was very small and simple, but clean. The bathroom was very tiny and had a bad smell.
What I liked best about this apartment was the view of the sea and hills from the balcony was excellent. Also, the location of the apartment w/in Manarola was very good.
The major complaint I have is the noise at night (after 10p.m.) when trying to sleep from the surrounding apartments especially from next door was very loud. Also, we could not open our door to the balcony for the breeze to come in until after midnight (on 6 of the 7 nights) because the noise from the village center was very loud for their events, bands, movie nights, disco music. This made it very warm for august. So the sleeping was not too good. I am not sure if this is seasonal or just bad luck during our week there.
I would recommend this apartment for 3 to 4 nights, at the most, but not a week.
Our party was a party of three. One adult and 2 children.
Arbaspaa staff were very kind and welcoming and patient at answering any of our questions. Booking the apartment over e-mail was very easy and arbaspaa was very responsive when I had questions prior to the trip. I cannot say the same for 2 of the women who worked at the information/train center in manarloa. They were overly rude and very impatient.
As for Manarola, we fell in love with it. We rated it tops of all the 5 lands,,,as we hiked to all of them and spent some time in each one. Manarola has a great spot for "cliff" jumping and diving. The villages were very crowded and touristy during the day, but after 5 p.m. it was wonderful staying there, going to the open air dining and having the village without the tourists. The food and gelato was the best!!!

The apartment is not luxurious but is pleasant, comfortable and adequately appointed, and its small balcony was perfect for "meals with a view". The location is wonderful, though not for the aged or infirm: there is quite a steep climb from the centre of the village to the apartment and then one short flight of internal stairs. Both prior information and welcome on arrival were excellent, and we spent a happy week in the apartment.

We stayed a week in Belvedere apartment. The steep walk from station was so worth it for the ocean/ village views. The apartment was clean, basic utilities but had everything we needed, including a small balcony to sit out and watch the amazing sunsets. Manarola is our favourite holiday place, and we found the restaurants reasonably priced. The staff at arbaspaa were very friendly and helpful.

The apartment provided all the essentials needed for the visit to Manarola. The balcony is small but very adequate. The view from the balcony was good, overlooking some of the sea and a lot of the hillside vinyards; pretty amazing. The apartment is located farily high in the town, but that is what you want given the vantage point. It is also located conveniently in the center of the town.
