What Past Guests Are Saying
Great location, incredible views
If you are looking for a place within relatively easy walking distance of town and rail links in Manarola, but high enough up to have sensational views from its furnished balcony, Studio Lucio is a perfect spot. Kitchenette is good and well supplied - our only quibbles were old hard pillows on the bed, a toilet that didnt close off properly (but the owner came down and instructed us on turning the water off between uses) and a fairly pokey bathroom, even by European standards. But overall, a great base for exploring Cinque Terre
: professionali e gentili!
Ideal base to visit the Cinque Terre
Very helpful and friendly check in office. The apartment has good views over the village, harbour and hillside market gardens and vineyards from the small narrow balcony. No wifi in the apartment, however available from the local "Explora" shop. A fridge, kettle and toaster, though no other cooking facilities in the small kitchen. Only a hand held shower over the half size bath, however all manageable in the reasonably sized bathroom. No washing machine, however adequate hand wash facilities with balcony drying. Laundramat facilities available at the shop selling hiking equipment. Ease of access with luggage as no steps (quite a steep ramp) from the train station to the apartment. Small village of Manarola made a lovely base to spend time visiting and hiking in the Cinque Terre area. The 2 small grocery stores stocked all the necessities for our stay and plenty of good restaurants and Pizza take always in the village.
Perfect Location, quaint regional accommodation.
We loved this location because for us it was the right distance from the village centre & we didn't find the climb difficult. It was high up enough to have a great view of both the village & the sea, yet we were able to go down into the village for coffee and meals. The next path up leads along to the church, past Dal Billy's (restaurant)... and another level up we walked along the top terrace overlooking the point, and views up the coast to Corniglia. The accommodation is rustic but large, well furnished and clean. We slept well. It's a 'sit-down' shower, but plenty of hot water. Locally owned which is nice.

Relaxing with magnificent views
After a difficult day travelling from Nice to Manarola by train (5 trains), it felt like we were arriving in Paradise. First of all we were greeted by a smiling, helpful English speaking member of abaspa above the tobacco shop and then taken by another young man just as friendly, who carried my cases to our unit. We knew that we would have to climb in Manarola but access to the unit was painless - there were no stairs, a ramp instead, and there wasn't far to go uphill. The location was magnificent and we could see and hear the waves crashing on the rocks far below from our bed. We were close to everything without being disturbed by the hundreds of tourists below us. The small balcony with chairs and table gave us a place to relax, drink and contemplate after each day of walking. The unit was spotless with clean towels etc.and the bed was comfortable. It was well equipped with everything we needed - no oven, but we didn't want one. Perhaps the only thing we needed that wasn't there, was a corkscrew for opening our wine but that was a very minor detail and we managed okay! It was also easy to book other activities from this company like a wine tour, cooking class, sailing etc. from their shop 5 minutes away. They were happy to help us with any problems and had internet access at the shop; this was handy as there was no wifi in the unit. We absolutely loved our time there and regretted not having booked more than our 4 days. We would highly reccommend the unit and the company we booked with!!
wonderful apartmemt with amazing views
My sister and I stayed at studio Lucio for several days and loved it. Immaculately clean, amazing view from the balcony, quite large, easy to reach - there was one thing that we didnt like. The kitchenette allowed for leisurely delicious breakfasts on the balcony and for lunch foods to be stored until needed. Will definitely stay there again when I'll come back to Manarola. Loved it!
Poor service! Poor maintenance. Misleading information. Great vi
Read trip advisor review. Our concerns were not addressed, we were told that we were wrong. The 'kitchen' was not a kitchen, but a bonus room. Studio suggests self catering as did reviews.
Felt like real living in Cinque Terre
Really enjoyed this apartment. Woke up and had coffee & breakfast on the bedroom balcony. The walk uphill was refreshing and invigorating. The view was lovely. The bathroom was a bit awkward to shower in, but at least there was a bathtub with a shower.
The apartment was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We loved waking up to the sound of the sea and the sun coming into the bedroom.
Lovely apartment with wonderful views of the rugged Ligurian coastline. Clean, reasonably priced and perfectly located, it is all you could ask for in Manarola.
A wonderful view
Stayed here for 4 nights recently and overall enjoyed the stay. We loved the bedroom and the balcony...We did not like the shower over bath and the fact that we could not make coffee. We requested a cafeteria and were told to get coffee in a restaurant! The young lady who should us around was polite and friendly and we really had a lovely time in Manarola.
For 4 days the shower was ok but as others have said a week would test your patience.
we loved the view from our small balcony.
The kitchen is not equipped well enough to call this a studio apartment. Also, the shower facilities are below standard.

Great view and a very comfortable apartment!
The apartment was very comfortable and completely met our needs. Good location in Manarola, accessible either by many steps or by a sloped walkway. Terrific view of the town and Cinque Terre shoreline. The bathtub/shower is a little odd, as others have mentioned, but it's no big deal.

clean, fresh apartment and great staff
Booking the apartment was very easy. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when we arrived at the office in Manarola and it was just a short walk to the apartment.
It was nice and centrally located and very clean. Lovely view of the bay.
Even though we only stayed for one night I'd definitely book a longer stay with them if we were in the area again.
Lovely view to wake up to !
What a great stay at Studio Lucio, to be fair we didn't spend so long in the apartment as there was so much to do, but amenities suited us perfectly, was concerned before that we were unable to boil an egg as no cooker however there was a small plug in single hob which could do the job, didn't use it in the end - usual staple of bread tomatoes and cheese for breakfast and eating out was fairly priced, really noticed this after 3 days in pricey Florence, 2 Euros average a coffee in Cinque Terre against 4- 5 euros in Florence (if you want to sit and drink it that is) The small balcony is off the bedroom was lovely to wake up in the morning to hear the waves and look out onto the coast whilst lying in bed, smashing hol.
Room with a view - on a budget
Arbaspaa were very helpful, recommending the studio for my 3-night stay with my mother as there were no steps up to it, though it's a bit of an uphill walk (as with everywhere in the Cinque Terre). The price of the studio compared very favourably with others I'd considered and it had the advantage of being fairly central and close to one of the best restaurants in the area (Dal Billy).
The best thing about the flat was definitely the balcony which, though joined to the neighbour's balcony, was a wonderfully peaceful place to sit and look at the waves below. Whilst the studio suited our needs for a short stay, the lack of a proper sitting/dining area (just a sofa in the hallway and a small sideboard in the kitchen) and the very basic cooking facilities (a tiny plug-in hotplate with an enormous saucepan) might have been problematic for an extended visit. Also for light sleepers, it's worth noting that you can hear footsteps above very clearly (though in such a closely packed village, that's probably a very common experience).
A Pleasant Surprise
Booking this apartment was very simple online and responses from the manager was also quite prompt. It was a breeze checking in and out, with the apartment handed over in excellent condition. Love Manarola (please change your address to Manarola or highlight that we should drop off at Manarola instead of Riomaggiore), the apartment that did not require us to face any steps after climbing the steep slopes, and the little balcony for sitting out to enjoy the view, have a meal or just hang out your wet clothes. Nice restaurants in this little town and the train station is so close. Main grouse is that the mattress was soft and creaked with any little move.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay in Manarola at Studio Lucio. Wonderful to sleep with the window open and listen to the sounds of the small town. Small balcony but still, incredible views. Too bad about the washed out trail but we still hiked up and over to Monterosso.

Good location with beautiful ocean view...
The coordinators were excellent and extremely helpful, even for a last minute request of an additional night.
50th Birthday trip
Cinque Terra - beautiful!
We stayed at this studio apartment on our 2 month holiday around Italy. It was one of our favourite places if not the highlight of our trip! The studio was just right for two of us and we spent most evenings on our little balcony watching the sunset. Check in was a breeze, ever so helpful. Parking was organised for us at a charge of course, but much appreciated as we had a hire car. Close to everything restaurants, coop, swimming and railway station.
Studio Lucio was just perfect for my solo trip, and so much larger than the photos on the web site. The price was so afordable and the location couldn't have been better. Be prepared for many many steps.
Good with problems
The location is perfect with a great view. The apartment was falling apart as far as structural and aesthetically.
Fantastic accommodation and Value
We arrived and met the owner as directed, she was incredibly friendly and welcoming and although she spoke no English at all, she was able to show us around the accommodation and make us feel very special. Her daughter was available who spoke some english and she was delightful. The apartment was extremely clean, very well laid out with good kitchen facilites to enable us to try some italian cooking. The views, magnificent, the bedroom and the kitchen both have doors to the balcony with a table and chairs and there is an upstairs balcony for the use of all in the apartments, well laid out with tables, chairs, candles, a couple of lounges etc., The apartment is right in the centre of the tiny charming village of Corniglia and as soon as you walk out the door onto the cobbled pathway you have access to several cafes, a bar, a grocers and several restaurants. I can recommend anyone to this apartment. We had a wonderful time.
San Antonio Texas
It was a wonderful place. You can watch the waves on the rocks from bed. We left the windows and shutters open all night long so that we could sleep with the sounds of the ocean. It was a great base for exploring Cinque Terre.
A perfect holiday
We had a great holiday. Everithing was perfect.A perfect mixture between old and new.
Great Choice for Manarola
We stayed at Studio Lucio for two nights. It was our first stay in Cinque Terre and our only stay in a studio apartment during our European trip. It a welcome change to have a multiple rooms and a bedroom with a great view and veranda. Check-in and check-out were very easy (need to pay with cash). Anna was particularly helpful.
The city is tiny and very hilly. We easily found parking on a Thursday around 4:00 and walked to town ( a bit of climb, as is the whole region).
Be sure to validate your train ticket when traveling between towns. We got stuck our first day with a 50 Euro fine, which we felt was over the top, because we did not validate our ticket at the train station. Another couple in the car got a fine too.
More like an apartment than studio in terms of size - perfect location, amazing view, great value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful as well. 100% recommend!
Johannesburg, South Africa
Great little spot and so central and easy to reach!!!
Was such a pleasant stay and the apartment was great and neat and just what we needed, had everything...could have stayed longer!!! beautiful views and very peaceful.
Cannot say enough nice things about this place
The apartment was fantastic -- a surprisingly big place with an amazing view. The apartment management people could not have been nicer -- very accommodating. And of course, Manarola is breathtaking. I was there in January when it was pretty chilly and most of the restaurants were shut down for the winter and I still had an amazing time. I will definitely be back!

Quaint and charming
We loved staying at Manarola. Was less 'touristy' than the others. Great restaurants & foccacia. Studio Lucio was a great base for touring the other villages. Loved view from small balcony. Bath and shower designed for very short people. Access via pathway if you don't want to do stairs.
Perfect, ideal location
Lovely roomy apartment. Ideal central location. Amazing views. Couln't have wished for more at the price.
Stunning location in a beautiful area
Studio Lucio proved the perfect base for my wife & I to explore the central area of the Cinque Terre. Manarola is spectacularly situated and the studio has a wonderful view over the harbour and beyond from the bedrooom and little balcony - perfect for sunsets.
The arbaspaa staff were really helpful & spoke English well and us being delayed until 7pm wasn't a problem.
Two small notes, the studio doesn't have any cooking facilities (there is a kettle & coffee maker and there are plenty of eating places in Manarola) and if you come by car, it can be diffficult to find a free parking space at the entrance to the village (the car park is expensive!).
However we found the whole experience wonderful, and wouldn't hesitate to return to both village and apartment.
Studio Lucio in Manarola
Loved Manarola and Cinque Terre and Studio Lucio with Spectacular breathtaking view
We enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It had lots of room. There was a small deck. (We could not get the TV to work.)

Fantastic apartment for a Couple
We are a young couple who spent 4 nights in Manarola. Studio Lucio was a perfect apartment for us. We loved the view and it was a perfect amount of space. The shower is very interesting and is more of a bath which could be difficult for anyone taller than 5'8" or so. Other than that everything was great, we will be back and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, romantic stay in the Cinque Terre.
Beautiful balcony view
Only downside was that there was no stove in the kitchen.
Good apartment and good price.
Cinque Terre is amazing and the Studio Lucio is a very good apartment if you want to stay in Manarola, which is the best option for me. Arbaspaa, the agency that rent to me the apartment is very professional and everything went fine.
Very nice and cosy apartment, stunning location, very calm and silent area. Beautiful surroundings, clear and clean sea water.
Approved and suggested!
Best experience in our trip
Manarola is so beautiful, and this flat has a great view. It has a nice bedroom with small balcony, a OK kitchen, a small living area, and a nice big bath. We were greeted by the rep and she led us to the flat. It was a great experience, and we extended our stay because we fell in love with the town.
Best seafood, pesto, wine, swimming, hiking, etc. We visited London, NYC, Paris, Rome, and Manarola was our hands down favorite.
Warning, lots of stairs, be careful after you drink!
Nice stay at Studio Lucio!
Actually our friends stayed at Studio Lucio but nevertheless they enjoyed tremendously their stay in there. Nice apartment and wonderful view over Manarola to the sea. A couple of wishes though occured; wet floor after shower and also there were minor noise problems from the neighbours..but otherwise - great accommodation and great service!
This place was amazing!
My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend and we fell in love. The town is beautiful and the apartment was perfect. It is small but the view is amazing!
Ross & Bronwyn
Perfect place to stay great views, and experience the atmosphere of the village, quite high up and lots of steps to climb, but worth it..
great place, great food
We staid at the Studio Lucio in November and really enjoyed our few days in the Cinque Terre area. the apartment was clean and comfortable with a great view from the balcony.
The hikes were really fun and the weather was still ok. Plus when going off-season one doesn't have to deal with loads of other tourists.
Great location. More spacious than expected except for the balcony which is a bit crampt.
Very nice staff, they gave us all the help we
We rented an apartment in Manarola overlooking
the sea for a very good price. Close too
everything, the sea, the town and the train
The studio was beautifully decorated and we had a very nice view from the terrace over the sea.
It was one of the best vacations we have made and we will come back.
San Jose, CA
roomy, quiet, spectacular view
Stay in this condo for 2 nights. The condo has a small livingroom(can sleep 1 person), kitchen, bathroom, and roomy bedroom that sleeps 2. Everything is clean & roomy, but the towel is not restock daily, the bath tub is sitting style, so it's weird for us Americans. But the view is spectacular where there is a small balcony looking out to the town on 1 side & to the ocean on the other. Love the ocean sound when open the window.
So beautiful we have to come back!
I vacillated between 4 and 5 stars. Studio Lucio was very comfortable and clean, wonderful view, ocean lullabies - we loved it.
Here is the only thing.... the bathtub! It was a half length bathtub with a built in seat. Not that that is a big deal, but consider that it is a long and spacious bathroom, that could have easily held a fell length tub/shower, even without the bidet (which we gauche Americans find endlessly amusing). But we got used to it. So, I would like to give 4.5 stars...
The other thing to note: we arrived on Sunday. The travel agency that had the keys is closed on Sunday(!). So... after quelling the panic, asking the souvenir shop owner under the agency where a pay phone was (just across the street), and calling the second emergency number, we were able to get the key from the owner, a very nice fellow who spoke about as much English as we spoke Italian, just a short walk away. It would have been nice, however, had the agency caught that and made proactive arrangements.
But any landing you walk away from is good.
And Studio Lucio was great. The bed is comfy. The view beautiful. It all looks just like the photos we saw on the web. The walk down to town was pleasant and close to the tunnel to the train station. The kitchenette seemed functional, but honestly, we never used it. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.
And Cinque Terre rocks. Especially in the south, as far from the resort-wannabe Monterosso. IMHO.
If you are considering going - do it.
Response from Arbaspaa - 09/25/2009
I answer just to clarify that since on Sunday our office is closed we send an email with the descrption of the itinerary to reach the accommodation where the owner welcome our guests.
Probably in this case the email was not delivered. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Vacation apartment with a view
This is a conveniently located apartmentin in Manarola, a town less crowder than Vernazza. There is plenty of space, cooking facilities, too. Beautiful view. Not far from the center of village or from the train station (short uphill walk). The rental staff was v. friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Amzing View in an Amazing Place
The studio was amazing. The check-in process was easy and the location can't be beat. We had our own balcony with a great view of the harbor. The place had everything we needed. I even proposed on the balcony during sunset. Can I say more. We will return again.
