Best part of my Italian holiday. Location of Office easy to find;from station walk down pedestrian tunnel into village, then turn right, walk about 40 meters and Office is on the left above Tobacco/Icecream shop.
Beware there are many steps in Manarola but this is part of it's charm.Studio apartment is not "too" far from the Office, easier without heavy luggage.
Apartment is small but just right for 1 person. You can whip up an amazing pasta dish in the compact kitchen. Bathroom is small but functional.Amazing view from the window. Spent many evenings sipping wine, watching the sun set over the glistening sea, looking across the town to the terraced hillside and magical lights.
Enjoyed campari sodas at the local pizzeria, shopping for supplies, many great walks and exploring the villages.
      Had a fantastic stay.

Fabulous location at a budget rate

Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This apartment was just as advertised. Great location - overlooking the town and a few steps away from a very good restaurant -Billy's. Yes, there.are lots of steps up to the apartment but that is the Cinque Terre - just remember to pack light. It is quiet and has a very comfortable bed. Is the bathroom small? Yes, but good water pressure, which is more important. Is the spiral staircase narrow - yes, but not a big issue and very common in European apartments. There is a shall outdoor area but it has no privacy from the neighbors. A small disappointment but did not detract from our stay. Arbaspaa was very good to deal with. We were missing a few things in the kitchen but the owner delivered them along with a bottle of wine. All in all, it was a great apartment
      for the price.

      Wonderful stay!

Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We loved our stay in the Studio Battolla in Manarola. The staff was so kind and helpful upon arrival. The Studio was clean and had an incredible view. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with a bottle of local wine and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets! One chilly evening, we enjoyed the view from the kitchenette. The bathroom was small, but extremely clean. The entire studio looked to have been recently remodeled. The windows and doors were secure; a big storm came in one night while we were there and we felt very safe. Be advised: the spiral staircase is tiny and could be treacherous after too much limoncino, but this is a perfect (and affordable!) spot for a couple, as long as you don't mind stairs (true throughout Manarola!).

Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we highly recommend the Studio Battolla and arbaspaa!

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Although we did see a picture of the winding staircase and toilet/shower combination we were not prepared for the reality of the situation. The top floor of the apartment was so small that my husband and I had to plan were we would each stand in order to get ready each day (and to avoid falling down the open staircase). Only one of us could have our suitcase open at any given time. The staircase made it impossible to bring suitcases down to the bedroom where there was just enough room for the bed and a luggage rack. The location was great (2 doors down from an excellent restaurant) and there was a view of the city from the tiny patio ( some overgrown shrubbery needs to be cut down on order to enhance the view). The check-in/out procedure was quick and a very friendly young man escorted us to the apartment.

Excellent Value, Tight Quarters, Beautiful View

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This is a charming unit, very tight quarters, but absolutely adequate with an outstanding view from the terrace. We watched two gorgeous sunsets while enjoying local wine. One reviewer commented that experience on boats was useful for this unit. We'd have to agree. The toilet in the shower is quite the experience! Photos can't quite capture the "efficiency" of this bathroom. That said, we'd absolutely stay here again. Plus you really can't get much closer to Billy's for a wonderful dinner and no dangerous trek down the hill afterwards !

It has an inside stair wich doesn't seem very safe, but after a few time going up and down you get used to it.

      Manarola Encantadora

Left on 09/07/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Stayed here for seven days at end of July 2012. It is very high up over the village so not for those who are unfit. But it was worth it for the stunning views. Nice clean apartment - and the owner left us a bottle of bubbly as a gift! Strange arrangement in that the terrace was off the bedroom and the kitchen was upstairs (a small spiral staircase). Great price though and I would recommend it. Manarola was great and the Bar Zio with local musicians playing every night was fantastic! Loved this holiday - the entire Cinque Terre region is absolutely stunning!

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the apartment as the view is fantastic, looking left straight out to the sea and right into the hills. The accomodation was compact but had everything we needed including hob to cook on, good shower room, an effective fan as it was very hot and close proximity to a lovely restaurant 'Billy's'. We looked around the other Cinque Terre villages too but Manarola was my favourite- unspoilt and relaxed.

The studio we rented provided the basics we needed while in Manarola. We may be a bit spoiled, but we would prefer renting a place with airconditioning. The bathroom was one of the smallest we have used anywhere in Europe, fortunatley we have spent a lot of time on boats so it was doable. At the end of the day we spent very little time in the room so it was a great value, the views are fantastic!

Went to the arbaspaa office upon arrival in Manarola and were greeted by very friendly staff that walked us to the studio to show us the room.

Nicely decorated simple room with all you need in between hiking in Cinque Terre. Small kitchen with some basic appliances and utensils. Doesn't get much sunshine as it is situated behind another building and only has one small window in addition to a frosted glass door (with a curtain). This might be good to keep out some of the heat in summer, however in mid april it would have been nice to have a bit more warmth. There was an offer to contact the owner to turn on the heating if required though, however we just put on an extra layer of clothes and it was fine.

      Absolutely amazing

Left on 05/02/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Manarola is far and away one of the friendliest places I have been. My fiance and I arrived at the studio after their office hours had closed and someone was still there to meet us at the front door within five minutes. Incredible service. The studio itself was perfect and it was an adventure simply finding the place. It has all the necessary amenities including a full bathroom, kitchen and dining area upstairs. Then down a precarious, but fun, spiral staircase leads to the bedroom and the terrace which has breathtaking views of the village, the Mediterranean and is situated perfectly to watch the sunset every evening. Everything in Manarola is a short walk because it is such a small village, but despite that there is so much to see. There are a few different ways to get down to the city center, all of which twist and turn through the narrow and picturesque alleys and streets. There are plenty of restaurants, gelato shops and places to get quick bites to eat such as pizza, calamari, and stuffed mussels (some of the best I've ever had). There is also a pharmacy, wine shops, grocery store, and a couple tourist shops. I very highly recommend the Studio and Camera Battolla to couples and small families as the bed is very big and comfortable.

Originally we had three nights booked here but within 5 hours of arriving we decided to add another day to our stay. We were fortunate in that the unit we were in was available for an extra night! Manarola was incredible and our accommodations were superb. The tight, winding spiral staircase was a little scary at first but we quickly got used to it. We spent many lovely hours on the terrace overlooking the valley drinking wine and relaxing. It was quiet and convenient, quirky and adorable. We were also thrilled to be so so so close to trattoria dal Billy where we ended up dining twice because we loved it so much.

Great view but small, small, small

Left on 10/13/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We stayed 3 nights in the Camera Battolla apartment, the smallest apartment we've ever stayed in! While the view was great, the small size, especially of the upstairs living area, impacted on our comfort levels, especially as the weather was hot and there's no aircon. We'd read other similar reviews but, as we're not big people, thought it would be fine.
While the bedroom downstairs is fine, upstairs (kitchen and bathroom are cramped. Bathroom is tiny and has a combined toilet and shower like a caravan: when you shower, the toilet gets wet and the shower curtain clings to you. The toilet then has to be dried down after you shower!
The ultra narrow, steep internal spiral staircase down to the bedroom encourages you to finalise all business (including toilet visit) before retiring for the night. Seriously, you have to concentrate fiercely when using these stairs! If you enjoy a few drinks, perhaps use the outside steps down to the bedroom!
We kept our large, heavy suitcases in the kitchen area rather than lug them down the internal or external steps. This left very little room to move! There are a lot of steps up from the railway station, so any reduction in carrying is to be considered a bonus! If you travel lightly, this would not be such an issue.
Aside from these negatives, the unique beauty of Manarola and other nearby villages, fantastic local seafood and amazing walks put the apartment's shortcomings into perspective. Price is also quite reasonable.
The girl at arbaspaa was extremely helpful and even helped with our luggage as we negotiated the steps up and down on arrival. To find the arbaspaa office, if you arrive by train, walk down the pedestrian tunnel into the village then turn up to the right. The office is about 30 to 40 metres up on the left, on the floor above the tobacco / icecream shops.
No wifi at the apartment, but we could have taken our laptop down to the office (small fee) if urgent.

Manarola is all about climbing steps so prospective travellers would do well to get fit before staying there. The apartment was quite adequate for a short stay of no more than a week due to the compact toilet and shower set up which is no different to the canal boats of the UK.
What I was annoyed about is that on the last morning the gas and electricty had been turned off by the owner before we woke up in the morning and I believe I should be reimbured for that.

We contacted arbaspaa as many of the other booking sites were not able to offer us accomodation in Manarola for the time we needed. Anna, our friendly agent, was extremely efficient in arranging accomodation for us and providing us with all the necessary details for the day we were to arrive. On the day of our arrival the unit we had booked was unavailable due to plumbing problems but another unit was ready for us. It was a one bedroom, studio unit (bedroom downstairs and small kitchen bathroom upstairs). Beautifully clean and comfortable for a two day stay for a couple. Accessing the upper an lower levels could be awkward for some as there is a tight spiral staircase inside but we found this ok. There is also stair access from the outside. The view is spectacular, looking out across to the garden terraces and across the ocean. Manarola is built on a steep slope so walking up and down many stairs is part of the package but quite managable for those of relative fitness. I would definitely recommend contacting arbaspaa for holiday rentals in the Cinque Terra.

Manarola / Cinque Terre, did not disappoint!

Left on 06/14/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Studio Battolla may have been on the small side, but made up for it with the amazing view! The Studio was very clean, comfortable, and had all the necessities. Trattoria dal Billy, arguably the best in town, was only a stones throw away! Had we stayed in a 5 star luxury hotel (if there had been one in Manarola) we would not have experienced Manarola and all it's charm to the full. We felt like locals, if only for a few days :-)
Ok, the toilet may have been in the shower cubicle, and there is a spiral staircase down to the bedroom, but these are small disadvantages, by far outwayed by the view and location. The arbaspaa people were a pleasure to deal with, and the locals too!
There was a lovely lady, just a short walk from our Studio, who weaves / knits/ and felts original garments. Very reasonable, and a great opportunity to pick up that unique momento!

      A week in Cincue Terre

Left on 05/21/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We, a 50'ish couple, spent a week at Easter time in Studio Battolla. We arrived by train. Had first some difficulties in finding the check-in place, mostly because of the interesting way of street numbering in the village. After finding the right door, everything was simple: friendly and helpful service throughout our stay, including our hosts= the owners, whom we also had the pleasure to meet.
At the first sight, after some climbing along the steep, narrow alleys, the flat looked tidy, homely and beautiful. And small. Still, very soon it became obvious, that the small apartment was working completely.
The view down to the village and the sea was stounding. It's nice to sit on the terrace in the evening sun and watch the scenery.
There are some good restaurants in the village (the nearest, Dal Billy's, is about 20m away along the street) and there are many more in the nearby villages, that are easy to reach by train or by hiking (which we usually did).
It's easy to recommend this place to everyone who loves beautiful landscapes, hiking and good food & wine.

We traveled through all five villages in Cinque Terre. However, Manarola was our favorite! The location, staff, wine and food, markets, and cafe's were amazing. The people in Manarola were also very nice and helpful. This is a must go to destination!

The apartment was tiny, but all the room we needed. The view was fantastic. Of all the apartment's we stayed in during our vacation this was the most memorable.

This apartment was very well cleaned and furnished with the essentials (waste bags, hygienic paper, towels, kitchen equipment, cleaning and washing materials, even salt and sugar and tea!), which is very important because it is extremely bothering when one has to buy these things only to stay a few days. Very small but nice.

clean and convenient studio in beautiful manarola

Left on 10/05/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We stayed in this studio and would recommend it to smaller people. it consists of an upstairs kitchen entry, which has an enormous window that opens any way you want, and has beautiful views of the sea and town. the bedroom is downstairs, which has a full glass door that can also be opened, but only accessed thru the inside. outside the bedroom is a small patio with same views as kitchen, but also shared with rooms next door, so it is not private. i would definitely recommend this studio, with the warning that it is small. above average sized people would find this studio difficult to maneuver in. both the kitchen and bedroom are small, but big enough to have a few suitcases and bags (there is a large open rack in the bedroom that holds quite a bit of things) the bathroom was the only real issue we had. the toilet and shower share the same space and is quite tight. its doable, and has all you need, but be warned that its tiny and not all people would fit. A nice feature was that the bedroom had dehumidifier in it, which we definitely needed since it rained everyday we were there. a suggestion to the owner, to add as many hooks or places to hang towels and clothes inside. if it rains, you get soaked, and you cant hang your things on the line outside to dry. manarola is not a large town so nothing is far, the studio is in a good location higher on the road so not too much noise to be heard from town. we loved our stay in manarola, and studio battola suited our needs. the woman at arbaspaa were knowledgable and more than helpful, and even arranged for a taxi at 4am for us. they are conveniently located in town. thanks!!

Apartment was small but very nice with an adventurous stair, as every stair in Manarola. The balcony was a bit samll though. but the seesigth compensated everything. The crew of arbaspáa is perfectly organized and very helpful.

Wonderful location but beware of the climb

Left on 08/15/2010 for a stay in July 2010

We had a lovely few days at Studio&Camera; Battolla and exploring the cinque terra however you should be aware of both the climb to the appartment and the vertical spiral staircase that link the top floor of this tiny space with the bottome floor. If you are fit and healthy then you will love this.

We stayed 3 nights which would have been longer if available. Great views, so expect to access by steps and/or a steep road Close to Billys restaurant which has delicious fresh seafood. Manarola is very handy for Cinque Terre walks. We hope to return one day..

The perfect village to stay in. TheBattolla Camera-room was clean with simple but elegant facilities. Staying longer than a few days we missed having a balcony to enjoy a drink to the rising/setting sun. Drying clothes and towels was difficult too. A small stove would have been much appreciated but plenty of places to eat out. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Stay a few nights - you won't regret it!

Fantastic view, but very, very small.

Left on 07/02/2010 for a stay in June 2010

This apartment is adorable and has an amazing view, but is extremely small. It would be best for one person, or two very small people. My husband, who is 6'3", did not fit in the shower (which is in a wet-style bathroom - the shower head is in the very tight space between the toilet and the wall) and had to leave the curtain open, which left the bathroom soaking wet every time he showered.

From both the kitchen and bedroom, there are stunning views. There is a small table and chairs in the kitchen area from which you can look out the enormous window and enjoy the view; however, if you want to open or close the window, you must physically move the table several feet - not an easy feat with so little space.

The bedroom and kitchen are on separate floors, connected by a spiral staircase. This staircase small enough that you can only go up or down by beginning with the correct foot (each stair is only big enough for one foot, and they alternate right and left) and you definitely must hold on. This doesn't really allow you to carry items between the rooms, such as food you've prepared and want to eat outside (the terrace is off of the bedroom) or any luggage items. To do so, you must go outside and use the town steps, entering through the bedroom. When you arrive, be sure to bring your luggage down the extra flight of stairs outside and leave it on the terrace so you'll have it in the bedroom.

There is, of course, lots of stairs to get to this apartment from the train. But this is to be expected for such a great view! Overall, I would recommend this apartment, as long as the spacial constraints are clearly understood.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon so we met the property owner at the Tobacco shop (near train station). She was very nice and even helped us carry our bags! There are some stairs so be prepared.
The apartment was clean, fully furnished, very quiet. Gorgeous view from the upper level window and there was a little patio to drink wine on in the evenings that also had beautiful views.
We loved the location and would recommend Studio Battolla to anyone.

A fantastic apartment with sun terrace overlooking Manarola and the sea. Well appointed with a comfortable bed and great views. Highly recommended! Manarola is a great base for exploring the rest of cinque terre with a good selection of places to eat. The climb from the station with luggage is a little steep (everywhere is in Manarola) but well worth it - there is also a gentler sloping walk to the apartment.

A great stay (in a different studio)

Left on 09/17/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We had a wonderful experience with Arbaspaa in Manarola -- although we stayed in "Studio Albicocca", not "Studio Battolla". In any case, the studio was fully equipped and comfortable (if a bit on the humid side -- we made good use of the dehumidifier next to the bathroom), with a postcard-perfect view of the sea and the vine-laced hills hunching over Manarola (which happens to be the least tourist-trafficked, and for that very reason the most pleasurable, of the five towns). We wished we'd had more time there, and look forward to booking our next stay as soon as possible. Many thanks for the hospitality and for sharing this delightful holiday spot.
