This is a great little apartment with a big patio/deck. It had a fabulous view of the Manarola and the sea. It was the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy Italy. It was a little bit of hike to get to it but everything is here.

My daughter and I spent 3 blissful nights here, and cannot imagine a more beautiful or peaceful spot. It was great to have the kitchen for breakfast on the huge patio balcony with a panoramic view of the beautiful Ligurian sea. We arrived to a spotlessly clean apartment and had helpful friendly service from the agents.
Yes, there's a lot of stairs. Yes some of the steps are a bit rustic. People in the past have complained about this, but as these 5 villages are near ancient I welcome the rustic nature of the area. All in all this place is perfect in ever way. I have recommended this place time and time again! -

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The units, shared by four people suited us beautifully - two ensuite bedrooms and a good sized kitchen with a washing machine made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Added to this was a very good deck area where we were able to sit and eat and watch the marvellous sunsets. h
Having a line to dry clothes was an added bonus. The staff at arasbaa were most obliging and helped graciously in any questions we had.
The only negative was the steep walk up to the unit from the town centre as we were two senior couples but we did get use to this. -

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I stayed here with 3 friends and we thoroughly enjoyed our week in Manarola. The apartment was small but the terrace/deck area was huge and we spent mistimed outside looking over the sea and the terraced gardens/village. The apartment was clean and basic amenities. Beds were comfortable.
The climb up the stairs and hill was challenging but well worth it o get away from the bust street below. The locals were very friendly and the local produce/ food was really wonderful. The access to other villages was easy and we enjoyed walking along the terrace track very much.
I would recommend this apartment and ana (manager) was very helpful and friendly.

Brisbane, AustraliaVery Disappointing!
Left on 08/13/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This apartment has a fabulous view, but that is where the positives start and finish. The instructions we received to find this apartment were not clear and the fellow who met us at arbaspaa when we finally arrived was not very helpful or friendly. My experience in this apartment is quite different to most of the other reviews I have read here, yes, the view is fabulous but we were very disappointed with almost everything else. The bathroom was quite dirty and there was no soap holder in the shower to store anything, bench space in general was in short supply. The fridge was rusty and the oven was dirty. The entry to the apartment is badly maintained and the apartment generally could do with quite a bit of maintenance work. We were also disappointed that there was no iron in the apartment even though there is a washing machine. We were told it is not normal to have an iron in an apartment, although it was the only one out of 4 we stayed at that didn't have an iron. We definitely would not stay here again and feel there are much better options available. It would certainly be better staying closer in as this apartment is not an easy walk into the village.

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
After having read a lot of reviews about places in Manarola, we were not expecting much but Casa Vacanze Vergassola was high on our list of favorite rentals during our trip. This is not a luxury rental but what it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in the important areas. The view is incredible. I guess there are probably places in town where you could get a better view but I can't imagine it is much better. Being able to have the view out over the water as well as a full view of the town below made for a fascinating look at what life in the Cinque Terre is really like. The room is high (and I do mean high, not for you if you have trouble climbing) up on one side of the valley where Manarola sits and is well above the area where tourists generally go. This was great because it gets you out of that daily madness and into the quiet of the rest of town. It is also only about 3 or 4 doors down from Trattoria dal Billy where you simply must eat during your stay. The room itself was simple and functional. The air conditioning kept up with the heat as long as we closed the shutters and curtains while we were out for the day. The bathroom was actually quite spacious compared to other rentals we stayed in and there is a giant sink which made it easy for doing some travel laundry. If you are staying longer than a few days, I would recommend going for the apartment. It is where we plan to stay the next time we are in town.

Piaseczno, PolandA real cinqueterre experience - the sea, the sky, the vineyards
Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
If five-stars hotels experience is all you are interested in, why go to Cinqueterre? Casa Vacance Vergassola was exactly what we wanted for our holidays - A great view - and believe me, you need the view being there. Private balcony where we enjoyed our drinks at the sunset - and you need balcony being in Cinqueterre. Convenient location - not far from parking, not too many stairs to climb (and this is extremely important, too), easy to carry the luggage. And restaurant Da Billy nearby - one of the best sea-food experience ever. It was also relatively inexpensive as for Cinqueterre standards and clean. The apartament was simple but great, and gave us the right feeling of being in the middle of Manarola, enjoying the sea, the sky, village, the vineyards. I definitely would recommend it to everyone! And I would not mind staying there again, in fact we were thinking of prolonging our holidays as we enjoyed our stay!

The staff of arbaspaa were very friendly, easy-going, and helpful. They provided information about the area and recommendations. The apartment was a great break from a week of hotels. Four of us stayed, using both bedrooms and bathrooms. We were able to cook dinner in the kitchen one night and eat at the small dining table. We spent most of our other time at the table on the terrace enjoying the amazing views. Both rooms have Tv's and closet space. There is a restaurant a few doors down that has excellent and fresh seafood, although a little expensive. The only downside is that the showers were small, but that did not lower our overall opinion or enjoyment of the Casa Vacanze Vergassola. And yes, the path to and from the main restaurant/town area is steep and long but helps to work off the pasta and desserts. The path is also very safe and beautiful as well, even at night.

Left on 05/27/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Not having a clue of where to stay, we researched many different places in a few of the Cinque Terre towns, and decided on Manarola as being the best fit for us. We chose extremely wisely, as we thought Manarola was our favorite of the 5 villages, a combination of perfect size, location, views, and friendliness.
We decided on an apartment in town over a traditional hotel/B&B; for our two night stay, and the folks at arbaspaa were extremely helpful and friendly in renting us the Vergassola. Its location was high up in town, which was worth it for the superb views and tranquility. If you have lots of luggage, beware, it's a little bit of a hike, but not a big deal and well worth it for us. A bottle of wine on the balcony during sunset before dinner was a spectacular experience, and we loved being up high and overlooking the village. The room was not spacious (by U.S. standards), but made up for it by opening the doors to the balcony to expand the view and perfectly comfortable for the two of us. We spent a couple of days exploring the different villages and hiking trails in CT, but were happy to return to Manarola for the evening for dinner and lodging. We would definitely stay there again! -

We really enjoyed our time in Manarola in april 2012. There were 4 of us sharing the apartment and room. Weather was mixed so we could not spend as much time on the terrace enjoying the great views and atmosphere as we would have liked. Watch out for the gulls if you are eating on the terrace - they will pounce on any unattended food!
Staff in arbaspaa were great and so helpful, apartment and room were very nice, location is very good if you don't mind the steps (we didn't). Views were stunning.
We went for nice walks around the 5 towns, despite the weather, but it's a shame so many are still closed. Hopefully they will reopen soon. It was great to see Vernazza on the mend, but they still have a bit to go. We enjoyed all the towns and had a lovely day on the boat down to Portovenere.
I would recommend this apartment and the 5 terre location to anybody, but not suitable for buggies or the infirm. -

The Casa Vacanze apartment was all we needed in Manarola. It had a nice balcony with a great view and though literally just a bed and a bathroom, it was perfect for us. Getting to the apartment is a bit of a haul (as are most other places in Manarola), especially if you drive. At least in this apartment you are a bit above the noise and Manarola is amall, so only a 5 minute walk down hill to the main street in town (though you have to come back up!). Its also only a few doors down from Dal Billy restaurant, which received good reviews (we thought it was below average though and way overpriced). The room though was very clean, and the bathroom was spacious.

Loved staying in the room with the amazing sea view! The breeze coming up from the sea was lovely and the room was exactly what we needed and wanted from a room rental. I do wish that more towels had been provided and additional toilet paper (we had to go buy our own) but the space was just right, it was quiet and the location in our favorite Cinque Terre town was perfect. I loved sitting out on the terrace with a little lunch that I got from the co-op in town. Check-in and check-out was extremely easy... they even helped us make a reservation at a restaurant that week. Would recommend this highly and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 4 nights in Manarola at the Vergassola apartment. It was a group of 4 of us travelling, a couple in their 60's and a couple in their 30's. This sport was perfect, the apartment was absolutely gorgeous with two large double rooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen area was smallish but lovely, it was hot so we spent the whole time on the amazing balcony overlooking Manarola and out to sea. The view was to die for and the photos don't do the partament justice. It was a short 7-8 minute walk up to the apartment from the main street but not a difficult one and we all found it easy. It is also only 2 doors down from Trattoria dal Billy - well worth a visit just for the seafood antipasti starter and cuttlefish pasta!
The checking in of the apartment was easy, my only suggestion would have been that the arbaspaa should have provided the apartment with dishwashing liquid, tea towels and more toilet paper- we had only half a roll! I would expect this type of basic provisions to be provided - we had to buy tea towels!
I would highly recommend anyone travelling to Manarola, or the Cinque Terre, to rent this apartment, we had one of the best few days and Manarola was by far my preferred village. Staying in this apartment made it all the better!!! -

After visiting the other towns in Cinque Terre, we are really glad that we stayed in Manarola. Manarola is quiet and beautiful with several good restaurants. The room is a simple, small, clean bedroom with bath; but you don't stay here for the room. You stay for the views! There is an attached balcony which looks out over the sea to the left and the terraced vineyards to the right. If you open the shades, you can look out at the sea from the bed. There is also a small table with two chairs on the balcony, where we had breakfast each morning. Check-in was super easy--just go to the office on main street, just a block from where you come out of the train station tunnel. The ladies who checked us in all spoke excellent English and were very helpful when we had any questions. If you stay here, bring small suitcases/backpacks that are easily transported up stairs. There are a lot of stairs to climb up to the room -- but so worth it! I rated "comfort" a 4 instead of a 5 only because (1) the balcony is shared with the apartment next door, so you have to be OK with strangers occasionally walking right by your bedroom windows, and (2) there is a hotpot provided, but no place to store cold foods. We would have liked to have had a small refrigerator. But those are minor points. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I stayed at Casa Vacanze Vergassola in a room with a terrace that overlooked the town of Manarola and the Ligurian Sea. The view was breath-taking. The room just fit a king-size bed, end tables, and built-n closets/shelves. There were French doors on two walls that look out to the sea. There was a small table and two chairs on the terrace where we could sit and enjoy the wonderful view. The room and bathroom were clean and neat. The agent from arbaspaa, Alise, was very helpful and accommodating. She met us in front of the church in town and walked us to our room You do have to carry your luggage up several steps and through alleys and then down some stairs to the room, but it was really not bad, but just be aware. If traveling by car you must park outside of the village in public parking.
Our favorite times of the day were early morning and late afternoon, when the daily tourists would leave and we had the place to ourselves.
Don't miss the vineyard walk above the village.
All in all a great experience! -

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The room was very small, no amenities (no refrigerator, no blowdrier, no other furniture besides the bed, TV not operating) but an amazing view so no real need to be in the room besides to sleep since there is a balcony. It was very clean and located only a few doors down to one of the best restaurants in Cinque Terre. Upon booking, I was under the impression that we were getting the apartment, not just a room with the bathroom. This was a huge disappointment for me and my husband when we arrived!
As well, we did not have all the information we needed when we arrived. The lady who checked us in was lovely but she really didn't have any information for us which left us a bit out of sorts upon our arrival. We drove into Manarola, she could not tell us where park since the one lot she knew was full. She said mostly everyone takes the train in and therefore she didn't have any information. She did not tell us that it would make more sense for us to drop our luggage at the church versus at the bottom of the hill by the rental office. She was unaware that there were actually functioning pay phones in the city and that there was wi-fi. She was also unsure as to whether or not the only grocery store in town was open. We needed water and items for breakfast but could get nothing because the store in town closes in the early afternoon. We asked her where we could do laundry and she pointed us to the next town over but could not supply us with a map to inform us where it was located. At the end of the day, we figured it all out for ourselves and had a lovely stay in Manarola and Cinque Terre however, it took us half a day to gather the info we needed, move the car to the appropriate lot, to find a store that was open and a place to do laundry a few towns over in Monterroso. Had the person who checked us had more of this information, we would not have wasted half a day figuring it out for ourselves and would have been able to enjoy the gorgeous town of Manarola. -

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011
It's hard to beat the view. My wife and I spent two sunsets on the deck with a bottle of local wine and created memories that will last a lifetime. The cost is very reasonable for what you get - a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, deck, etc. We particularly enjoyed the washing machine because a bottle of Montefalco Rosso that we purchased in assisi broke in my wife's suitcase. We were able to salvage many garments because of the washing machine right there in our suite. 120 Euro per night was a bargain. As a word of caution, if climbing hills and stairs is a struggle for you, then don't stay here (or anywhere in the Cinque Terre, really). My only complaint - and this is relatively minor - is that on the first night we killed a spider and a centipede in the suite. That's usually a bad sign, but we didn't see any more after that night.
But that deck! It looks exactly like it does in the picture! Oh, and go out to eat at Trattoria Billy right next door. It was easily the best restaurant we found during our stay, and their staff even helped us with late check-in! -

The view from our spacious terrace was breathtaking, but if you are not used to climbing many steps this is not for you! However, it was worth the climb!! Accomocations and comfort were wonderful and anna from arbaspaa was so sweet and helpful. The shower door did leak and no one got around to fixing it, but things happen when you travel and it did not dampen our experience. Thanks for your sincere review.
We have seen the problem to the shower door but the owner has decided to change it completely not to fix the old one.Unfortunately the new door could not be delivered within a couple of weeks.Unfortunately (or luckily) we are in a small village far from big malls and specialized shops.

Check in with arbaspaa was easy, very friendly people. It was a bit of a walk up to the flat, as well as quite a long walk from the parking area to the main 'street' of Manarola (don't bring heavy luggage, don't wear high heels!).
Flat is well appointed, comfortable, with plenty of space for 2 people. View from the deck was lovely, we ate breakfast and watched the sunset there every day. Shower was fantastic.
There is also an interesting view at night of the hills directly across from the flat. There are religious light installations, I think from a local artist, which light up at night.
We liked the restaurant Marina Piccola (or Piccola Marina?) down at the waterfront. The squid ink pasta is fantastic, as is the house wine. -

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in the one bedroom, one bath, full kitchen version of the apartment (i.e., without the optional second bedroom). Everything was as advertised, and arbaspaa handled everything very well. The steep climb to the apartment -- and also the short, steep stairway descent to the entrance -- make this not a good choice for mobility impaired or (many) elderly folks. But if you can manage the approach, you are rewarded by glorious views of the nearby sea and hillsides from your comfortable apartment and spacious terrace. The washing machine was a real plus, since we travel light (no checked luggage, not ever).

Don't be disappointed with the higher location. It takes a hike up the hill with luggage in tow. So, pack light. The view is fantastic. The staff handled a problem for me without any hesitation in placing a call to my credit card company when I lost/miss placed it. Ana and Francesca was really great and pleasant to talk to. Their approach was really kind and sincere.
The only disappointment is that the room was not cleaned to my standards of cleanliness. Obviously, the cleaning staff never took a mop to the floor under the bed where we stored our luggage. The luggage came out from under the bed covered in dust. The bathroom tiled walls also need attention to cleaning. The fixtures such as toilet, sink and shower were clean. The linens were clean. However, the cleaning staff just took short cuts and only cleaned what was absolutely necessary. So, be sure to request that the cleaning staff do a thorough cleaning. Overall, I will stay here again. We already knew this rental from 4 years ago and loved it. I had a hard time finding the rental this time because it belonged to another owner. I sent a photo to arbaspaa and they quickly identified it as their rental. Overall, we had a fantastic stay for three nights. There is also an apartment next to the room. We were lucky both times not to have a neighbor. If the apartment is rented then the people must pass your room using the balcony to come through to their side. If you have the door open and are in bed or are on the balcony than I can imagine that this might be a problem for privacy. If the neighbor should be smokers than the room is downwind. As a side note; think twice about having a meal at "Da Billy" just down the street from the room. The attitude of this restaurant staff is deplorable. I would suggest you go down the hill and have a nice meal at Piccollo (a Rick Steves suggestion).Response from Arbaspaa - 05/11/2011

My husband and I went to Italy in august 2010 to attend our son's wedding outside of Florence. We were on a whirlwind tour of our own making in Italy, and our wind-up town was Manarola. It was a lovely place to relax after such a busy time. We enjoyed our place, and Hannah (sp?) who helped us carry our luggage up the hill was a wonderful engaging person who made us feel so at home. Wow, those hills were something, and I'm used to walking! After awhile, we were marching up and down a little easier, but it was still quite steep. It accounted for the beauty of the town as well. I could lie on my bed, head on my pillow and observe the sea. Beautiful. We enjoyed watching the farmers across the town so much, and I loved swimming in the Ligurian Sea. Not a shock to dive in at all! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place!

My artist friend & I rented a car & drove from Florence to Manarola. We got lost in the way. We arrived ~7pm in Manarola and the arbaspaa agent that lives there came to meet us at the apt. She told us that we were going to be charged one extra day , otherwise we won't be able to stay that night there. We had no choice but to agree. We kept calling from the road to let them know we were in trouble & we'll be a few hours late. No help or sympathy for 2 exhausted artists trying to find their way into Cinque Terre.
Next day we went to plead with the arbaspaa manager in Manarola that it was unfair to charge us 2 nights because of late arrival. We had actually stayed in the apt. less than15 hours. He was rude, condescending & unapologetic for charging us double the rate for one night. No offering to stay the extra night either.
This company is German not even Italian. No customer service in this heartless arbaspaa Manarola agency. Do yourselves a favor and book from Cinque Terre Italian agencies or local home owners. This Ikea furnished apt. had views but no charm. Arbaspaa destroyed our Cinque Terre experience and the fond memories I once had of the place when I painted it few years back. Do not use arbaspaa ever!! -

High up in the village, so be prepared for a hike. Once there, the accommodations were very nice. Terrace was a perfect place to end the day - fantastic views of the village and the sea. Best trattoria in Manarola was two doors down. Perfect amount of space for the two of us. Washing machine was a plus for the week we were there. Overall, a good home base for exploring Le Cinque Terre.

Our room was gorgeous with views over the hills and seascape of Manarola. Beware the climb if you have lots of luggage though! The room had a comfy bed and a shower, although it was small and in need of some repair to stop the water spraying from the shower all over the floor.
We were thrilled there was tea/ coffee making facilities. A small bar fridge would have been very useful. Also beware of parking on the street if you are told you can, as you will get a ticket unless you are right up near the payed carpark. Overall, a lovely room in a beautiful location. -

We loved our 4 day stay in Manorola at the Casa Vacanze Vergassola. First of all arbaspaa was wonderful, Martina was so helpful in showing us our property and also in helping us with other vacation questions. The property was fantastic, just like in the photos. Views great, clean with working kitchen and washer. Our only complaint is that there was no shade available on the balcony, because of a broken shade umbrella. So we could not enjoy the hot afternoons on the balcony. Would stay again ( for a week or 2) if we knew they had some added sort of shade or umbrella.

This quickly became our most cherished vacation spot! The room was clean and airy with a lovely terrace and large bathroom. Manarola is by far the most picturesque and quiet of the Cinque Terre Villages. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend this to anyone going to Italy.

We stayed in the room and loved the Casa Vergassola.
Its 5-8 minutes of climb (for non climbers) but location is picture perfect. It also had a perfect little sitting area.
The room was clean, with nice furniture, good bathroom and aC working. I would highly recommend this place and also Manarola village for staying. The Staff is also very friendly and helping.
One slight improvement point...the room also has a kettle, if staff can also provide, some tea bags, milk and sugar, it will be really helpful or at least they can write in their website and room also has a kettle. -

This is great little apartment with lovely views over Manarola and the coast. The balcony is perfect for an afternoon glass or two after a hard day walking the trails. Then you can saunter up to Trattoria del Billi for a stunning seafood dinner - it's about 3 doors away and you'll love the place!. Good size bedroom and comfy bed (not always the case in Italy) Kitchen is well equipped and has ample space. Bathroom also good size, new fittings and good shower but the shower screen was a bit leaky (more a design fault than anything). We would thoroughly recommend Casa Vacanze Vergassola; it has everything you need for a relaxing stay in lovely Manarola. Special mention for Martina, our Arbaspaa rep - great customer service - very helpful thanks!

What a wonderfual apartment and arbaspaa were just as wonderful. We called the number as soon as we arrived and a lovely lady met us and carried my bag all the way up to the apartment. The walk up was definetly challenging without any luggage but so well worth it. The view is amazing and its one of those places where you could leave your old life behind and start a new one.
As for the apartment it is just as described on their website and even better. Comfortable bed, excellent shower and very clean. Plenty of towels, pillows and blankets. It was cold whilst we were there and used the airconditioning but it did trip the switch a few times. But this wasnt a huge problem, we just flicked the switch.
Overall a wonderful experience from the time we booked to the time we left. Very happy and will defiently book with arbaspaa again. -

The room was a little small and the hike to the room was steep, but wow the terrace with a view made up for it. We enjoyed a glass of wine every night out on the terrace watching the sunset. Manarola was a very picturesque town, it was our favorite.

The service was good. We we're shown to our apartment by two charming women. Nice treat of champagne awaited us (and desperately needed after the walk!) Apartment was spacious and brand new. Functioning kitchen and great bathroom served our needs. Pull-out beds are as comfortable as one could expect. Extra blankets were appreciated and used.Would recommend a few additional pillows for those accustomed to higher/fluffier pillows of Canada. It's a long tough walk to apartment for some, particularly after multiple changes of trains and lots of lugging of luggage up/down stairs. A good sense of humour and patience is required. Perhaps this element should be more clearly articulated in advertising. But once you're there, the view is spectacular! Love the balcony. Sadly, the one day we were there, it rained but we made the best of it. Having Billy's restaurant a few steps away was great (and delicious).
Best: view, modern interior, suitably stocked kitchen, elevator option
Least: rather uncomfortable bed. -

We booked a one bedroom apartment at this vacation home last spring and what a great choice that was! Arbaspa staff were very friendly and helpful, the apartment was spare but clean and got everything we needed. It was very quiet up there and the view from the bedroom and the terrace was spectacular! It's worth the hike up from the train station. Da Billy's, one of the best restaurants in Manarola is just steps away.
I would stay this apartment again and would not mind paying extra money for the bigger unit next door. -

Left on 09/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Our family of four (mom, dad, married kids) stayed
here in July 2009. We located the Arbaspaa office
and were immediately escorted to our apartment.
Our guide more than happily carried and pulled some
of our luggage, despite the heat! Once inside, we
were thrilled that everything was exactly as
pictured on the website. . .only better!! The view
was "to die for" and we spent many late afternoons
and evenings on the veranda, playing UNO, drinking
wine, and laughing! With Trattoria da Billy just
two doors away, we always were within a 30 second
walk of the best food in the town. A one-minute
walk in the other direction brought us to "Iotessa"
hand-weaving shop, where we purchased wonderful
shawls and dresses. Using the washing machine and
dishwasher were great. The apartment itself was
immaculate, with new bathroom fixtures, good water
pressure, excellent air conditioining. We felt
very secure with the extra locks on the doors and
windows (although there is NO crime!!). We could
have used a wash line to dry clothes, but we simply
draped them all over the veranda. We also might
have liked some extra pillows for the beds, but
that was really just minor. We made a pledge that
we will return here in a few years, so please save
room for us when we re-book Casa Vacanze

First of all, you will not spend much time in your room in Cinque Terre. The view from the patio is incredible and we loved sitting out and having a drink while watching the sun set or looking out at people working in their gardens. You earn that view though, since the apartment is near the top of the village and quite a hike up. The bedroom is compact - there's just enough space around the bed to get around, but the cupboards are big enough to hold your luggage and things. The windows allow for a great view right from the bed if you keep the curtains open. The bed is like every bed in Italy - hard. The shower was great - it was spa style with all sorts of different ways to set the water.
If you continue up the hill a bit past the apartment there's a really good restaurant down to your left. I can't remember what it was called, but the food was great and the owner and waiters were fun.
Manarola was by far my favorite village. Not too big or crowded, beautiful setting and harbor, very nicely kept. The whole area is out of a storybook. -

We absolutely loved our experience in Cinque Terre in Casa Vacanze! The room was very private and had an excellent view overlooking Manarola and the ocean. We could not have asked for more. The room itself was very nice and the staff was very friendly and trustworthy. I would recommend this location to anyone visiting Cinque Terre. It was both affordable and nice :)
