Bath, EnglandA lovely holiday in a beaustiful, restful place.
Left on 09/13/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Karen and Nick couldn't have been more welcoming from the lovely goodies in the house when we arrived to rescuing us when we left our passports behind on the way home. The house was great for our needs and we spent many hours by the swimming pool which was just the right size for both swimming and playing. Staying on a vineyard was fascinating and we learn't lots about winemaking and enjoyed sampling the wines, floc and armgnac as well as bringing back a car load. We also took advantage of having a table d'hote meal with Karen and Nick which was a bit like having our own private restaurant. The area is quite quiet but we found plenty to do:enjoyed sampling the different markets, visiting Roman remains, pretty villages and even a day trip to Lourdes. We will definately be back.

LeedsLuxury accomodation in the picturesque French countryside

Vineyards do tend to make beautiful landscapes and Domaine de Laurous is no exception. 100 acres of vineyard and gorgeous views provide a perfect backdrop for exceptional accomodation. The apartment, where we stayed, (this is based in the main house, as opposed to the guest house which is separate - both are available for rent), is decorated to a standard that could rival any five star hotel. Lying by the pool with amazing views you literally feel the stress falling off. Karen and Nick Kitchener will do anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible and Karen's cooking is fantastic! The wines are first rate and if you get chance to talk to Nick about htem you will see his passion for the vines shining through. Nearby are local farmers' markets and little French villages. We also went to a nearby lake for our own picnic of treats from the patissere! Perfect hosts, perfect setting and perfect accomodation! Throughly recommended.

EdinburghComfortable, well appointed, lovely meal

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Chambre d'Hotes. Everything was well appointed with lots of personal touches. We savoured a delicious evening meal and the breakfast the next morning. The location is idyllic - right in the middle of a vineyard with a swimming pool on hand if you need to cool off.
We'd highly recommend a visit. -

ShropshireClassy informality at Manciet

We stayed at Domaine de Lauroux to break our journey to southern France. It was an excellent choice, right from the welcoming wine after a long journey which helped us unwind in double quick time.
We were B&B clients, staying in what was, in effect, a small suite of bedroom, grand bathroom and separate sitting room. Traditional decor, but with a very modern slant. We opted for the dinner on our first night, and were bowled over by Karen's cooking and presentation. A truly excellent meal. Breakfast was equally good - not a silly imitation of a continental breakfast, but the real thing, taken on the terrace overlooking the vines.
The area is a foodies paradise. Staying too long will seriously damage your wardrobe. Karen suggested several artisan producers and markets for local produce, all our purchases being spot on.
The vineyard itself was beautiful, both in its sinuous rows, and its excellent condition. If the weather had been seasonally corrected, we would have tested the swimming pool, but it was too chilly & damp. Perhaps 5* in the sunshine!
We will definitely be back. -

There are Gites and Gites. This one merits a special mention. The English owners Karen and Nick Kitchener pay huge attention to detail. This 3 bedroom, 2 shower room property is spotlessly clean and comes with a fine welcome pack which includes some samples of their tasty well made wines. Excellent spacious kichen dining room area with wood burner-if needed for a winter stay (winters can be cold here but often blue skies).Lots of good air. Lots of trees and open fields. In summer Gacony has a wonderful climate. Comfortable well stocked library/TV room with good satellite TV reception.Deliciously quiet yet with great saltwater pool by the main Domaine House. Easy access to outstanding local village markets and Pau airport around 1 hour away. Toulouse around 2 hours. The Kitcheners know that the best clients are the ones who come back and who are pleased to recommend others. They richly deserve their success.
