Additional Location Information
Midtown East is Manhattan´s densest business district, centrally located, with great transportation (6 subway lines and Grand Central Station). Midtown East completes the New York Corporate image: Financial institutions, law firms and luxurious hotels and magnificent luxury towers. Many ethnic restaurants, cozy cafes, swanky lounges, and a very popular bar scene give this neighborhood more than a modicum of downtown flair. The area is home to many corporations such as Met Life and Citicorp as well as the United Nations. The center of Midtown East is Grand Central Station, which has been magnificently renovated, and is an architectural marvel lined with shops and restaurants. With the art deco Chrysler Building illuminating the skyline, every style of home is available in this neighborhood. Midtown East also has a few notable landmarks to its credit. The Morgan Library and Sniffen Court carriage houses on 36th Street are architectural masterpieces as is the Gilbert-designed Beaux Arts mansion. New luxury high-rise buildings are popular among professionals who choose to live close to work. Despite being one of the busiest places by day, there is no shortage of nightlife here. Numerous delicious restaurants, alluring shops, and jazzy local bars keep residents alive at night.
Apartment surroundings
Grand Central Suite is located on the 4TH floor of a beautiful building. The building is on a great block right in the middle of midtown New York City, just couple blocks from the world-famous Museum of Modern Art – one of New York’s most famous landmarks. The apartment is located between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. The apartment is quiet and peaceful but there are plenty of things to do right in your neighbourhood. There are about 20 different restaurants and bars on the next block – Chinese, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese – are only several cuisines available within a 3 minute walk from the apartment. You will be amazed by how many New Yorkers love to sit at the tables outside these restaurants after a day at work. Staying in this apartment will give you a truly New York experience. You will also be close to Columbus Circle, Central Park and the famous Bloomingdale’s department store. Times Square is just a 15 minute walk away (or one subway stop away), the Empire State building is a 20 minute walk away (or 2 subway stops).
On the block where the apartment is situated and the next block you can find anything and everything, you literally don’t have to leave the block if you don’t want to. Not only are there numerous restaurants and bars, some names of which are “Solera Restaurant and Tapas bar”, “Obao Noodle and BBQ”, “Baluchi’s Indian Food” (one of the best Indian restaurants in the city), “La Gioconda Italian restaurant”, “Peking Duck House”, bars “Black Finn” and “T.G. Witney’s”; you also have other little shops that will make your stay extremely comfortable, for example “Cellular Circle” where you can purchase a pay-as-you-go Sim-card if you want to use your phone during your stay in the US and not pay for the roaming. There is also safe and secure parking on the next block for $26 per day which is not expensive for New York.
If you are looking to try a new cuisine you might want to check out of these restaurants: “Al Bustan” Lebanese restaurant (53rd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues), “Barros Luca” Chilean cuisine (52nd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues), or “Gulluoglu” Turkish cafe (corner of 52nd Street and 2nd Avenue). If you are looking for the best breakfast place one of those will be the “Brasserie” or “Europa Cafe” on 53rd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues or “Pret-a-Manger” on the corner of 54th Street and Lexington Avenue. If you like smoothies, the best place in New York is definitely “Jamba Juice” situated on Lexington Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets, they make the smoothie in front of you with the freshest fruit, and you can add a boost (like immunity or energy supplement) or a wheatgrass shot to it to make it even healthier!
Please note that you will need to pick up the keys at our key collection point at W 38th street (between 8th and 9th Avenue). Please call us at 917 338 0845 to let us know your arrival time. Provide your arrival details in the 'COMMENTS' field.

Left on 02/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Took my 3 teenage boys to NYC for 4 nights, although the apartment was compact it was clean and welcoming. More than adequate for our needs and in a great location with supermarkets and places to eat nearby. Only a 20 min walk to Times Square.
Well equipped kitchen, the extra pull out bed came in very handy too!
All the beds good sizes and very comfortable. -

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The order manager was very polite and she gave us all the information we needed, she also gave us suitable solution with our luggage in the last day of our stay after evacuation.
We found a very nice and clean apartment, all the required equipment was supplied.
The apartment located 20 minutes from the most attractive places which are in the focus of attention.
Still:
1. The apartment is in the second floor without an elevator.
2. The check in is far a way from the apartment. -

Left on 01/30/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This apartment is in an excellent location, being only one block away from Penn station (handy for both the subway and for amtrak trains).
It was great to have access to free international phone calls, the laundry (on the same floor as the apartment) and the gymnasium.
When booking, all email queries were answered promptly. -

We found the apartment to be in a great location, only a short walk to the train station, the next corner was pick up for double decker sightseeing bus, you could walk to Empire State, and Times Square,Madison Square, Macy's down the road. There was a great asian resturant across the road (the manager and all the staff were fantastic and the food magnificant and cheap), a deli a few doors down which sold a variety of food, sandwiches, salads and a buffet bar, beer, juice etc. The only criticism that I have is that is quite small and the sitting arear didnt have enough seats for 4 adults, and the second bedroom didnt have air con and was quite warm although they did provide a fan. Out of our 6 days we didnt really spend that much time in our room so it was only a minor problem.

Great Location!
Left on 05/19/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We have just returned from our 4 day trip to New York. As this was our second trip we decided to opt for an apartment rather than a hotel. Empire City Lights didnt disappoint for its location! Also being an apartment meant it was very quiet on an evening, no slamming of doors and people walking up and down corridors like we have experianced so many times in many a hotel!
Close to Maddison Square Gardens, Macys and Empire State. Walking distance to many of the Big apples sights. Just a 10 minute walk brings you to the Hudson for the Statue Of Liberty cruises.
Just over from the apartment block is the New Yorker hotel which has a fantastic diner underneath it for all to use at fantastic prices.
As with most places in New York, dont expect a view from the windows other than that of a large buildings.
Only a couple of things went against this apartment...the free Wifi didnt work and there is no hanging space in the second bedroom, although this didnt really cause us too many issues.
If, like us, your flying later in the evening (check out is 11am) dont leave your cases with the security men! they tried to charge us $40 for 3 cases! and many times they were not at the desk, so cases wouldnt be secure! Just around the corner there is a Luggage Storage office (36th street) they charge $10 a case and are very proffesional.
Overall we were happy with the accommodation, it was clean and tidy. Although i would say that it states it sleeps 6...i think that that would be abit of a squeeze, there is only enough seating for 4 people (there were 3 of us). -

Fantastic location just down the street from Empire State Building, close to diners, convenience stores and not too far from the subway. There were four of us all requiring separate beds, and although we paid for the extra bed, when we arrived there were only three and the fourth turned out to be an airbed... not exactly comfortable but after a big day shopping and a night out in Chelsea (also close by) who would notice? The extra bed charge was refunded for the night we didn't have it.
Overall, although very squishy for four people we enjoyed the location very much and when in New York one doesn't spend much time inside anyhow.
Incidentally, City Lights/Empire State Deluxe/Panorama Deluxe all seem to be the same apartment if not then exactly the same layout only difference is the blow up mattress...
Whilst I have ticked the "recommend it" box I think that in spite of the excellent location a better apartment could be found for the same or less cost. -

Cheaper than a hotel! This is a petite two bedroom apartment with bathroom, kitchenette and center area. Having the beds in separate rooms was awesome, as well as was being able to grocery shop/have a fridge for breakfast in the morning.
Check in was the only minor difficulty...we got there at 2 but couldn't check in until 4 (the estimated time we gave). We just got lunch instead. -

The City Lights Empire State Deluxe apartments are one of the best options to have while staying in New York. The location is one of the best in the city, they are spacious and clean. You can walk to Empire State building, lots of small delis in the surrounding, bus station in front of the building and Penn Station some minutes to go. If I will visit New York again I'd surely choose the City Lights Empire State Deluxe apartments again.

Our contact person was very helpful and contactable which was a bonus when we found some linen was missing upon arrival. This was quickly recitified which was the beginning of a great stay and experience.
This apartment was a fantastic location right around the corner from Madison Square Garden and just down the road from Empire State Building. The subway was very close and I can not rave more about the location.
The apartment itself was very clean and a good size. Quite simple which is perfect when visiting New York as you are not spending a lot of time in the apartment!! The washing machine on the same floor was very helpful and the doormen were always friendly and present as you walked in the foyer which was nice.
We were there in summer which meant the air con unit got quite a good work out and held up well. The floor boards throughout proved helpful for the same reason.
Kitchen facilities were good - although no toaster which wouldve been nice - otherwise, sufficient.
All in all, a great place which was very economical between me and 3 others. All beds (2) and sofa bed (1) were comfortable.
I would definitely stay there again. -

I must say that I was suspicious at first. To fly in from Europe and rent an apartment, trough the Internet, in New York for a family of 6 is not something you do every day.
But we were all taken by surprise. The apartment was just great, the location fantastic and we got all the support and information we needed from New York City Apartments. We had a wonderful stay in New York. We will definitely use the services of New York City Apartmnets again! -

Left on 02/03/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We inquired about the apartment rather last minute and the booking
process was very easy. The staff answered all of our questions to the fullest
and we booked the place with ease. Everything was worked out for us on
arrival and clear directions and instructions were given. It was very easy to
get from JFK to the apartment.
We arrived to a very clean apartment in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. We
couldn't have asked for a better location as we were just down the street
from Macy's and right beside Penn Station which made traveling by subway
very convenient. We could walk pretty much everywhere in Midtown which
made our trip an amazing experience.
The apartment was a really great size with two bedrooms and a futon. The
three of us had plenty of room to move around. Basic dishes were provided
which allowed us to make breakfast in the morning. We wish there would've
been an iron in the apartment, but other then that, we had everything we
needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would easily book this apartment again
for a future visit. We definitely recommend it to anyone looking a travelling
to NYC! Much better then staying at a hotel!
