Sydney, AustraliaFantastic stay!
Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I highly recommend this rental. I stayed here with my husband, our daughter and my parents. We were so comfortable and relieved to be able to spread out for our ten night stay in New York. The apartment is in an ideal position with a choice of subway lines one or two streets away and wonderful Central Park so close - our daughter was in heaven with a choice of fun playgrounds. Not to mention the Natural History Museum in walking distance. The area itself has great restaurants and grocery stores, and Meg (the owner) was so helpful and provided a great list of places to go. In fact, the owners were extremely accommodating and lovely to deal with. I would recommend their apartment to any family or group of friends travelling to New York.

255103Slightly Dissappointed
Left on 02/15/2012 for a stay in October 2011
We stayed in the apartment for 10 days and the location is perfect, the street is beautiful and we were so close to Central Park.
We have three loud boys and I did not feel comfortable having them there as I was always worrying about the neighbours so I wouldn't really recommend it if you have more than 2 children going.
We did have to buy some utensils as the cupboard was very bare, one pot , limited amout of crockery etc. And bedding was very worn.
The unit could of been cleaner on arrival, I did text Meg to let her know and she was going to refund us our cleaning deposit yet this has not happened.
I would suggest some cleaning products to be left so visitors can do a bit of cleaning if they want to.
The hot water system also died while we were there so we had two days of cold
showers and there was no suggestion of reimbursement for the inconvenience.
All in all the trip was a great experience yet I would probably rent a larger apartment in the same area.Response from KLG - 02/28/2012

Dear Andrena,
I was surprised by your review and am so very sorry you were dissappointed! Re the cleaning fee: I believed we had refunded it on your cc. I will certainly look into it and contact you directly. Your other comments are appreciated and as the apartment has gotten an overhaul since your stay, (new paint, replaced bedding, dishes etc) which we do every 6 months, so the issues you mentioned have been addressed. I only wish you had let us know when you were there as the townhouse has a store room right outside the apartment door with extra everything in case the guest needs something. Also, please send us the receipts for anything you purchased as we are happy to reimburse you. Re the comment about worrying about noise. The bones of the townhouse are prewar and it has very thick walls and high ceilings. We've never had a complaint of noise from any of the units so there was likely no need to worry. (We have a son ourselves and he's very noisy so I understand). Regarding the heat/hot water issue you mentioned. As you may recall you told us about it (see emails) the day before you checked out and we sent the boiler repair person immediately. We had no knowlege of the problem until you emailed us. Had we known sooner we would have sent him right away as we did when you notified us. Again, as your emails to us were so kind and appreciative I was surprised by the review and we are very sorry you were dissappointed. We wish you happy stays in the future. All the best. Meg -

I could not have been more pleased at this apartment. I came to NYC to have engagement pictures taken at Central Park. It is about a block and 1/2 away!
The owners left a wonderful bottle of wine as a welcome gift. So good, we had to write down the info to buy it again. Two bedrooms but can easily sleep 8 with comfort and ease. Stocked with towels, kitchen and bathroom essentials. All you need is your clothes and a toothbrush. Close to everything and flanked by two subway trains, so it was easy to get around. I will never rent a hotel room again. For 1/2 the price of a NYC (closet) hotel room, you get a clean, spacious and big apartment. Thank you Kent and Meg for answering all my questions and all the helpful info to navigate my trip in NYC and your lovely apartment!Response from KLG - 02/10/2011

The actual unit and neighborhood are beautiful and safe. The outside patio is a nice perk. It has enough beds to sleep 8 people comfortably! Plenty of linen and towels and a nice big bathroom. Being on the upperwest side its always about a 20 min subway ride to get down to the main parts of manhattan so plan accordingly. Amsterdam and Broadway are nearby with plenty of restaurants, delis, coffee, shops, and the subway. And the park is RIGHT THERE! So nice if you like to run! The owners left us a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. Had a little trouble getting the keys but it all worked out! Kent is very accessible for all questions! I would definitely recommend!
