If you can secure dates, renting this wonderful apartment is a no-brainer. It's a great value for all you get in terms of space and location. We loved the quite and historical hood and strong sense of community. So close to the park was great for the kids and a morning run around central park. The apartment is exactly what was advertised, no BS... Close proximity to subway also made getting downtown quick and simple. Strongly recommend this apartment.

We just returned from a 10 day stay in this lovely duplex. Beautifully renovated old brownstone that was roomy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Kitchen was especially well equipped. Very close to the subway, stores and some restaurants. Loved the charming little garden in the back! An oasis in a very busy city.
Owner, Julie, was so helpful in allowing us to store our bags after our very early arrival flight. Also gave us lots of useful tips for stores and the subway.
We certainly hope to make a return visit. -

Beautiful, very spacious apartment with lovely garden area and most facilitites (no washing machine). Great breakfasts at Cafe Latte round the corner; grocery shops, pharmacy, bus and tube all very near, in quiet attractive neighbourhood. The owner, Julie, was lovely and very helpful - wish I could have stayed longer!

If there is a perfect rental, this is it! It is gorgeous, modern, beautiful floors, two well appointed baths, nice kitchen. Wonderful location. It is just excellent. We arrived very late, exhausted and were very happy to have our late arrival accommodated by the owner's niece, who gave us excellent referrals for cafes, jazz club and grocery store.
The subway station is a quick walk north and we used it extensively to get to the Upper West Side, Central Park, Broadway and Chelsea.

A group of 4 of us stayed here over the Xmas period. Pictures don't do this place justice. The duplex is a nice quiet street, very close to subway, grocery store and other services.
Julie bent over backwards to help us out while were there, thanks Julie :)
We'd highly recommend it. -

fabulous...wonderful apartment, the picutres dont lie. apartment is an easy walking commute to the subway, grocery store and local shopping. More importantly the apartment was clean, well stocked (tho remember to bring shampoo and conditioner), this apartment is way better than a hotel room. would stay there again. Julie is a great lady. we were getting together with family, so the size of this apartment was perfect

Me and a friend went to NYC to run the marathon. We were 5 in total and I have to say we totally loved the apartment, the location is great, just 10 min walk from 2,3 and 5,6 subway stations. The place is huge, not just for UK standards, but us too. Probably the best place in Manhattan, with very high price/quality ratio. Next time I go to NYC, I will definitely stay there again.

Left on 11/09/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We were in New York on business and I have to say this was the most wonderful place to stay. The apartment is in a very well renovated brownstone house in a quiet leafy street 10 mins walk from the subway and 10 mins to midtown. The rooms are vast yet homely and the bahtrooms and kitchen are newly fitted and luxurious. The whole beautiful apartment is spotlessly clean and equistely furnished with original art works and antiques. The owners are so helpful and friendly and bent over backwards to help us out;nothing was too much trouble for them.
There are many small cafes and restaurants 5 mins walk from the apartment and I did nt cook whilst we were there but the kitchen is very well fitted and very grand. The general atmosphere of Harlem is friendly and vibrant and we loved staying in that part of town. The Lennox Lounge with fantastic live jazz is just round the corner. I would nt hesitate to recommend this apartment to any one. Its a fantastic place to stay and I cant wait to go back. We all agreed it is the most beautful apartment we ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. -

This flat has everything you need - and more. It has it's own "soul". We were a family of four from Norway , age from 20 to 55 . Escpecially the young ones thought the flat was "cool" . We loved the area around with small coffee bars, and some very good restaurants. The subway only 10 minutes to walk. Friendly neighbourhood, Jazz Clubs and gospel.
Staying here made our trip to New York something very special. -

This was our 25th wedding anniversary trip to New York. Living in australia I found this house on flip key and contacted Julie with some questions. She was extremely helpful and willing to assist with our booking. What you see is what you get and more. The pictures don't tell the true story. From the moment you walk through the front door you will go wow. What a fantastic renovation. We stayed for 11 nights and booked two levels to give us the space and it was fantastic. Don't think about hotels, this is by far the best way to visit and stay in New York. Cafes on the corner, shops all around, subway and buses easy walk - why be cramped in a hotel room and pay far more. Julie - thank you for making our stay a truly memorable occasion. We have already told friends and I am sure you will see more aussies on your door step.

The choice of this apartment has been a success from all points of view, good location, plenty of room, nice decor, quietness... For us the most important in order to make a decision was the location. Our initial concern about Harlem (by our lack of information) has been totally unfounded and we didn´t feel unease at any moment. This area is mostly restored historic Harlem and we had the opportunity to experience another aspect of life in New York.Julie's rehabilitation of this building located on a quiet street is spectacular and has been a huge job, quality materials, unique furniture, large rooms and cozy garden. It was nice to have breakfast in the garden or to rest after a long day walking around in town. The apartment has a very relaxing atmosphere and we always felt at home. Every morning we were visited by two cute squirrels which kept coming for some nuts or pieces of bread. The description corresponds point by point with what you really will find in the apartment. Due to the good weather we hardly used the air conditioning (hot or cold) but it does work perfectly. Transportation is easy, with Metro lines 2 and 3 only at four blocks and bus lines M7 5th avenue about 200 m from the apartment and the M1 at Madison av. There's also a large supermarket nearby and a laundry service that is open daily until late.At walking range in the neighbourhood you can find the legendary Lenox Lounge, the apollo Theater, and famous restaurants as the Red Rooster or Silvia's. You can also go to many churches to hear a good Gospel Mass with almost no tourists. The last day we were able to store our bags in the house during the day. This was very convenient as our flight was at night and we had some spare hours before departing. The owner, Julie, has always been available and has provided us with all the desired information . No problems whatsoever with the return of the deposit. We would definitely recommend this apartment and we will contact Julie on our next visit to NY.

We stayed here recently for an extended stay. This place is gorgeous and really really big for NYC. It is the perfect blend of old and new. Beautiful original brick walls and attractive antique furniture pieces set against new/sleek/modern kitchen and bathrooms. It's located on a quiet, residential block in Harlem. Half a block away is a large park w/a very big pool. Lovely cafe just half a block in the other direction. Lots of dining choices and a few different grocery stores all w/in a few blocks. Very convenient to get to the subway or hail a cab. Julie is wonderful to work with, very responsive and helpful! This is no sterile/cramped hotel type room, it is truly a HOME away from home.
