I booked this room through apartments for owners. I got a great deal and paid £1800 for 8 days and dealt with a man called Reuven. Before arriving in New York I read about it being illegal to rent apartments and there was several worrying comments on this site. Reuven assured me I wouldn't be thrown out and that it was an ongoing issue with the city and that there was hundreds of apartments being rented out weekly. The apartment is excellently situated near Times Square and there is a subway on the corner. The apartment was clean and quite spacious and ideal for my family of 6 adults and 3 kids. The one problem we did find was that it only has 1 bathroom/toilet and there seemed to be a queue every morning and night. Also the sockets in the lounge didn't work. I called maintenance and they said they would come out. I didn't want to wait in so I just used some extensions from another room to get the TV and internet on. This was only a minor problem as we only really used the apartment as a base and was out most days all day. The apartment was a little noisy at night due to restaurants underneath, however New York is a noisy city and you soon get used to it. Overall I was very pleased with apartment and as there were 3 families contributing to fee, I only had to pay £600 for 8 days in New York which is great value.
