A charming, true 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment located on the 2nd floor of a doorman building with elevator. This 1700 square foot pre-war apartment features 12 high ceilings, lots of natural sunlight and is a great pied-a-terre for families or larger groups looking to stay in a central location in Manhattan. Each of the bedrooms has a full or queen size bed and closets. There is a sofabed in the living room that can sleep an additional 2 people. the specific apartment is 2-A, located on the 2nd floor. Let me enumerate why I will not recommend this to anyone:
1. the single elevator is not reliable -- we got stuck a few times and it sometimes opens between floors.
2. the apartment needs to be fully renovated -- bathroom tiles were just poorly repaired and done shabbily. looks like some dingy apartment in skid row. the window of the bathroom (2nd bedroom) needsto be repaired as it cannot stay open. curtains in this bathroom needs to be changed. Bathtubs have scratches and very old and showing stains. there are no ventilation in the bathroom as windows are very small.
-- the air-condition units need to be changed to a newer model (currently has a very cheap model) and the living room air con is too small for the size of the living areas
-- curtains need to be re-sized to fit the windows so it does not get in the way of the aircon units
---sofa in living room needs to be changed -- the upholstery is of low quality and caused allergies with my children. they have to be shampooed at the very least.
--given the space, there is no proper dining table but there are 2 sets of high tables with high and uncomfortable dining stools
-- third bathroom is like a maid's quarters bathroom; none of my kids wanted to use it
3. kitchen needs to be organized -- too much clutter under the sink and eating utensils are not complete
4. The apartment was dirty -- we had to scrub the bathrooms and clean the floors/mop the floors. there was a cockroach in the 2nd bedroom. closets were dirty (floors and walls) so we had to clean just to make sure our clothes don't get soiled. We have photos but will not post.
5. Air con filters were also very dirty
6. door knobs were falling apart or missing
7. There was no Internet for the first 2 1/2 days -- despite efforts of the management company to help out.
8. Matresses were soiled -- we saw this when we took out the sheets as instructed by the management company prior to check-out
9. pillows were too soft and need to be replaced
