Melbourne AustraliaGreat location, friendly and super comfortable
Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We returned to 'our' apartment in New York or that's what it feels like. A home away from home when we visit our grand daughter for her birthday in January 2013.
The apartment is so comfortable with easy access to all areas of the city and boroughs of New York. The Met is 2 blocks away, the M5 bus to 5th avenue is 25 metres away, the M104 down Broadway just 100 metres away and the M60 to La Guadia airport only 150 metres away on Broadway.
You can see from all this detail that the apartment has location, location, location.
If you add to that all the shops and restaurants and parks within a short walking distance what else is necessary! Well just add the most comfortable apartment with enough room to have friends around and its like you are a 'New Yorker' Bill is also a great help, always available yet so unobtrusive - the perfect landlord.
We will continue to stay here and recommend Bill to all our friends. There is only one problem with that - hope there is room for us next time! -

Queensland AustraliaGreat location. Cozy apartment.
Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We were nervous booking a NYC apartment on line, and Bill made the process very easy, and confirmations included all the information you need for your arrival. There s nothing to complain about here!
The apartment is clean, with central heating. It has everything you need for a holiday stay, including in the kitchen, making for an affordable NYC vacation for two weeks. The main will best suit people who like a hard mattress. Bathroom huge for NYC, and cosy lounge - dinning area was relaxing.
The local area was fantastic, and we felt like "locals" very quicky with the great overview Bill provided on arrival. Close to buses and subways, you can get all over Manhattan to enjoy the city. The local area has grocery stores, pharmacy, fruit sh, wine shop and many more. The local eateries and bars were great ...Esp being so close to Smoke Jazz club. We went out every evening and always felt safe.
That all said, we really enjoyed stepping outside and being at Riverside Park. We went for a walk here every day! Fantastic for avoiding the crowds.
This apartment is great value for money. Don't hesitate to book! -

Richmond CAGood location and large NYC apartment.
Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Clean, good location, and rather large size for NYC. Helpful owner. Comfortable bed and living room. Good value. Smoke - the Jazz club is only a couple of blocks away. Only issues were the noisy neighbors late a night, no dishwashing soap for the dishwasher and it's been over 10 days and I still don't have my deposit back. I still would recommend this place.

This is a lovely garden level apartment perfect for a couple or, as we were two colleagues in the city for a full week of meetings and research. It also happened to be the week of Hurricane Sandy's arrival and we weathered the storm well on this end of town. Proprietor Bill is a savvy and charming host. He's full of useful information and details on where to eat and things to do.
The location is really superb--very quiet neighborhood, close walking distance to good restaurants, a fabulous bagel bakery, and specialty grocery stores. It is very accessible to subwayy and bus lines. Short walk to Central Park or Columbia, Riverside drive, and other lovely parks. -

As a recurring visitor to NYC, I like stay in a place where I can feel at home. This apartment is just perfect for that. The location is just great. Close enough to every attraction NYC has to offer and also far enough from all the crows and rattle so you can go home at hight to a great and pecefull place. The apartment was in perfect condition and I would definitely recomend it to anyone.

Left on 10/29/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We rented all 3 apartments for a week to accommodate 2 families of 7 people. The larger apartment and kitchen was excellent, the 2 smaller ones were very good. Location was excellent, one block from the 110th Street subway, close to Columbia University and Riverside Park and easily accessible to everywhere in Manhattan and to Yankee Stadium. Bill was a caring and helpful owner/landlord and the service was great. Lots of good stores, markets and restaurants nearby. We also rented a house from Bill at Lake Placid for a week. The space, facilities, quiet location and mountain views were fantastic. I couldn't rate the house higher than 5-star.

Good value for money and in a peaceful neighborhood
Left on 10/26/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My family of 4 stayed at the place for 10 days and enjoyed the homely feeling of the townhouse. We didn't want to live like a tourist in hotel and the townhouse was one of our best choices to be living near a NY neighborhood and for this townhouse, it is near Columbia University. In was in summer that we stayed there (this is a belated reviewed that I have promised to write), and the air conditioning was just fine for our family. One thing I would suggest the owner to take a look, and maybe he already has, is the toilet flush system which has a tendency of getting blocked. With kids, sometime it is hard to make sure they won't do anything that will challenge the toilet flush system a bit. Another to improve upon is the wifi in the bed room, which was too weak. Maybe this has been improved too.

Left on 10/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012
After looking online for an apartment in New York City for our summer vacation, we decided on this one for its value, location and space. It's located on a beautiful neighborhood street right across from Hudson Park and also just a block from the Subway! The landlord greeted us cheerfully and throughout the week gave us wonderful suggestions on activities & restaurants. The apt was just right for my husband & I and our two teenage children - one bedroom, a roll out sofa & a blow up mattress. We loved the kitchen area & the spacious comfortable living room. We would definitely come back & rent this apt again!

Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in May 2012
From start to finish, I had a great experience staying here. I arrived late on a Sunday and was greeted at the front of the building by the very helpful owner who brought my bags into the condo. He had suggestions on where to eat, shop, and where to catch transportation which all were perfect. The owner lives in the building and was very responsive when I had a questions during my stay. I was finishing a class at Columbia University which is literally a five minute leisurely walk to the campus, so this would be the perfect location if you have any work to do at Columbia. Also, a perfect location for good restaurants, a few blocks from central park, and a nice running trail accross the street. Very safe neighboorhood too. The townhouse is very clean with everything you need, good amount of closet space, kitchen with enough dishes and appliances to make a good meal, nice dining and living area too. Four adults could stay here without feeling cramped whatsoever. The street noise is minimal and I actually fell asleep on the couch one night and was never awoken by any street noise and I am a light sleeper. When visiting New York in the near future, I am definitely taking my family to stay here.

Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in March 2012
if you have heard that accommodation in NYC is tiny ,dirty, overpriced and located in places you'd rather not be then you haven't stayed here! A large 1 bedroom apartment with kitchen, dining area, all spotlessly clean with everything in perfect working order, lounge (with sofa bed) bathroom (with full size bath) and a laundry just a few meters down the corridor. Located in a safe tree lined street with views of Riverside Park (25 meters away) 3 min walk to subway 1 min to bus, and restaurants and food stores close enough to have a different meal every night of the year. But the best part is the cost! Initially I was so dubious I thought there had to be a catch..I was happily wrong! In short I loved staying here! A home away from home. Thanks Bill I hope we can come back and visit again some day.

Two thumbs up for this property!!! We could not have been happier with the apartment (or the service provided by the owner), and recommend it highly. As someone who lived in Manhattan during the 1980's, I knew what I wanted when my husband and I took our two australian teenage boys to New York during their first visit to the us earlier this year; this property met my expectations and exceeded my hopes. Freshly renovated, the apartment is clean, comfortable, spacious by NYC standards, and well-equipped (including with free wifi). My husband and I are fussy about our mattresses, and we both found the bed in the main bedroom quite comfortable. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area-with a lovely bay window at the front of the living room-gave us plenty of room to hang out as a family at night after our days exploring, and easily accommodated our boys on a sleep sofa and an inflatable bed overnight. The kitchen area is small but perfectly adequate. The location is superb: close to the subway, in an interesting and bustling neighbourhood with plenty of eateries nearby, and half a block from the gorgeous Riverside Park. The owner lives and also operates an art gallery in the building; he was always available when we needed him, helpful, and friendly, but never intrusive. On top of all this, the price was very fair. The West 108th Street Townhouse was perfect for us, and we look forward to returning.

Left on 08/29/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My wife and I, and 3 1/2 year old son, stayed here for 4 days and had a wonderful time. Having lived in the neighborhood years ago, we were already familiar with the area. Lots of good eats and grocery stores for stocking up on supplies within walking distance. We travelled up and down Manhattan and into the other boroughs during our stay, visiting friends and family, and always had a nice quiet place to return to at the end of our long days. Nearby Riverside Park was great for morning jogs before we'd head out or for my son to spend some time in the playgrounds.
The owner, Bill, was very accommodating and welcoming.
The only small issue I had was that the mattress in the bedroom was a little soft for my tastes. I like a hard mattress to sleep on. But that's a personal preference.
Overall, a great stay. -

We (a family of 4 with 2 adult children) recently stayed in the apartment for a week.
The apartment is close to the subway, restaurants and a really great grocery stores right next to the subway.
The owner is very helpful and had great advice on what to se in the neighborhood.
For cyclists: it is only few meters from Hutson river park with its bike path.
The apartment is partly under street level, two of the sleeping places is on a sleeping couch in the living room, not a problem but it is nice to know in advance. -

Recently stayed a week while attending graduation at Barnard. The rental was excellent, convenient, nicely furnished, better than expected! Very convenient to the subway, great grocery stores, bagels and a variety of restaurants all within a few blocks. Beautiful neighborhood. The rental photos are accurate, I would say the rental is even nicer than the photos, clean and nicely cared for! It was like having your own apartment in the city! It works well for seeing all of the NY sights, but also if you need to be close to the Barnard or Columbia campus I don't know why you would choose to stay anywhere else.

This was a great neighborhood to stay in and an easy commute to midtown attractions...we even walked to the Whitney across Central Park one day. The subway was one block away and went to Times Square and there were several buses that ran frequently both downtown and across town. My friend took a bus from La Guardia with no problem. The apartment was comfortable and clean. My only suggestion is to buy new sheets for the sofa bed!
There were several nice markets and restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay here again. -

This proved to be a really smart choice for accommodation when we spent a few days in NYC. The owners were really friendly and accommodating. The town house was actually as pictured; clean, stylish and really comfortable. My teenage son and I loved the location. It is close to the subway for easy downtown travel, as well as the bus which goes down 5th ave, great for the museum strip. The us is not great for food, so it was a pleasant surprise to find good quality small restaurants a short block from the townhouse - Japanese, Thai, Indian, Cuban etc., all of which served reasonably priced, fresh food. There was nothing we didn't like about this accommodation - it was as promised, which is a rare thing.

Accommodation in New York isn't cheap. The closer you get to the centre of Manhattan - the more expensive it gets. This appartment is ideal and very reasonably priced. The neighbourhood is quiet and residential, but just minutes away from the big attractions, either by bus or subway.
Bill is an extremely helpful owner who will go out of his way to make your stay enjoyable.
Just a few tips for visitors:
- use one of the 24/7 markets on Broadway for your supplies.
- there's a wine merchants just to the south on Broadway.
- buy a City Pass online in advance (Google 'New York CityPass'); it'll save you a fortune on admission prices.
- book shows etc. well in advance; you may get cheap last minute deals, but don't count on it.
- use BroadwayBox for discounts on shows.
- buy a Metro Card to use on the buses and subway, it's a bargain.
Bill's appartment helped us have the most memorable stay in New York. -

It is difficult to achieve perfection but we try very hard to be accommodating of our guests and to make their stay a comfortable one.
Cleanliness: To be fair to us, this party had arrived early while we were in the process of getting the unit ready for them. We might have missed something but this is the first time we hearing of such complaint.
Check-in: We spend at least 30 minutes checking-in our guests and provide an overview of the unit. We also provide a book of information about the unit, neighborhood, and city.
Service: We live on the property and provide guests with our contact information. No additional request had been made by this party. We were extra accommodating by storing their luggage for 4 hours while they waited for their flight. -

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. We are a family of 4 including 2 teenage daughters, traveling to NYC to visit Columbia U and to sightsee. The apartment was ideally located in the Upper Westside just a few blocks south of Columbia and one block from Broadway. The neighborhood was beautiful with many ethnic restaurants and grocery markets close by. Bill and Reece were wonderful hosts, providing us with many suggestions on things to do and places to eat. The apartment was clean and equipped with everything we needed to be comfortable for our 4 night stay. We will definitely rent this apartment again when we return to NYC.

If you are looking for a peaceful place where you can rest but that has delicious restaurants and entertainment within a few steps, this is definitely the place. Within a two-block radius, you will find markets, shops, restaurants (endless variety) and lounges. The subway is only two blocks away; therefore it has easy access to downtown. The place was extremely neat and clean. It had enough closet/storage space for three women. Bill and Banch were very helpful and answered all of our questions. At our arrival, Bill gave us information on local events, favorite restaurants and oriented us on the area. I left very happy with the place and service.
I came back home recommending this place to family and friends.

We only have great things to day about the apartment and Biill, the owner. The street is lovely and right next to both Riverside Park and plenty of restaurants within 10 blocks. We know the area so being higher up on the West Side was not a problem.Even got to run and walk around Central Park to get to museums.Great jazz at Smoke and good shopping within three blocks. The apartment stays cool so it's very comfortable and didn't even need airconditioning while there. No need for heat at that time of year.Bill was totally available and very helpful,as well as very laid back and easy to work with.My husband and I are used to a king size bed but even the fact that the bed was a double did not create any discomfort. So we highly recommend staying here if you are looking to get a feel for real living in the city.

Left on 05/21/2010 for a stay in May 2010
Service - Owner was very responsive. He lived in the home with his
daughter, so was very accessible to address questions. Initial building and
apartment tour was very thorough as was the pre-arrival documentation
sent prior to my trip.
Home - Nice size for a couple people with good amount of storage space.
Very comfortable couch and bed. Art throughout home provided a
sophisticated touch.
Location/Amenities - Great locale with many options to get groceries or eat
out. Steps from Riverside Park, which is great for exercising. Though I did
not use the laundry facilities or the outdoor deck, glad to know they were
available to use. Internet access reliable.
Liked best - Reasonable rate for clean and pleasurable living space. Less
than two-minute walk to bus or subway lines.
Liked least - Window without covering blind (understand that fan was in the
way, but was a bit disconcerting at night). Lack of heat at night
(understand heat is turned off around 11PM, but I tend to stay up at night).
Overall - Heat and window issues notwithstanding, I highly recommend the
home since it excelled in all areas that are most important to me (price,
service, amenities)Response from William Karg - 05/24/2010
Owner
We thank our guest for a very thorough review. Unfortunately, it was unusually cool for a May visit. It was explained to the guest that heat is provided at a comfortable level until 11:30 P.M. at which time the thermostat goes on the night-time setting and drops six degrees. It is our attempt to save on energy when most people would be sleeping. The window in the kitchen does not have a shade because it would obstruct the window fan and being a kitchen window it does not seem to compromise privacy. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us and we are happy to address your questions.
