This three bedroom was perfect for our family of 5. The view of the boat dock was pleasant, the place was clean and well cared for. It provided a nice respite from the sun and heat. The complex has a nice pool and is in a good location so long as you have a car to get around.

My mother and I stayed here for the first time in mid-May for our annual mother-daughter OBX late-spring/early summer vacation. We immediately felt relaxed and comfortable here. The unit was very clean and tidy and exceptionally well equiped, especially in the kitchen. Each room was comfortably and appropriately furnished and arranged so as not to feel cramped and crowded. It was also so nice to arrive with the beds already made and not to have to strip them ourselves when we left. That's what vacation is all about! The convenient elevator also made it so quick and easy to move in and out (a nice feature regardless of age).
While not immediately located on the sound, this unit does afford a pleasant view of the marina and sound, which we desired and enjoyed seeing every morning as we breakfasted on the marina-side porch. This unit is very convenient to the guest pool and clubhouse/fitness center. We checked out the fitness center and were impressed with the cleanliness and variety of equipment. The unit is also within easy walking distance of 2 restaurants and a short drive to the Manteo waterfront where we love to kayak, eat, and shop.
I only have 2 recommendations. We were not advised of how to access or that the clubhouse/fitness center was even open until 2 days into our stay upon us asking. Please remember to advise guests of this info at check-in. Then, I recommend to the owners installing WiFi or internet capability in the unit.
I would recommend and stay at this unit again, but will also consider trying the units in Marshes Light next time in order to be in easy walking distance of the Manteo waterfront.

We have been with Pirates Cove for many many years and this time we tried the Shallowbag Bay club... The unit was decorated very nicely and had some newer features however, it wasn't very clean. Both bathrooms had santized paper across them with hair hanging off the side of the toilet seats, mold all around the outside of the shower doors and a lot of it. The kitchen counters, cupboard doors and floor was very dirty. The sink had an awful odor. I went down to the store and got some cleaning supplies and cleaned my first evening for about 3 hours...I'm not sure the carpets were even vacuumed based off the amount of dirt it took up when I vacuumed...Being clean is very important to our family and I am a breast cancer survivor this year things need to be cleaned well. In the past it has been a problem at Pirates Cove as well. The facility is beautiful but the houses and condos can be dirty...

We found this rental to be very nice. It had plenty of balcony space for everyone, was close to the water, had great views and some businesses were within walking distance.
The location of Shallowbag Bay is fantastic, just be patient when exiting to the main street which had a good deal of traffic.
We appreciated the covered parking and elevator. This made it easy to move people and things from one level to another easily.
Overall, I think you would enjoy staying here. -

We had a good stay.Personnel were very nice and helpful. Our bathrooms were not serviced with some towels and washclothes but we received more just be asking.
It was in a great area to visit family and friends and get in fishing. -

We were in town to run the OBX Marathon. This condo was great in terms of the condo itself and the location. The beds and living area were very comfortable (important for both pre and post race sleeping!) and the location could not be beat. It was 1.5 miles from the finish line and race after-party. It's also a short walk or drive from the downtown Manteo restaturants and shops. Stripers Bar & Grill, which is right in the neighborhood had decent food and more importantly a fun bar with great live music.The condo is well furnished and has a great screened in porch off the back. The only thing I would change is to upgrade the living room TV to something a little larger.

My friends and I have been coming here for the last three years for a short girls trip. We love the condo #702. It is well furnished and very comfortable. I feel at home there. Would not want to rent any other condo unless you need less space.

The condo was ideal for our last minute Labor Day weekend getaway. Three couples were very comfortable there, and the unit was very clean & well appointed. We had everything we needed. The elevator was fabulous and made settling in super easy. Shallowbag Bay Club is a lovely complex & provides easy access to Manteo & is a short drive to Nags Head & the rest of the OBX. Nice to be right on the water, and deck space is most relaxing. Pirates Cove Realty is terrific to deal with, would highly recommend them.

We loved the condo. It has everything you need and has plenty of room. Shallowbag Bay is great! The marina and sound views are magnificent and Stripers has the best food. On one of our stays, we actually never left the whole week because everything we needed was right there. You will see us again!
