Pittsburgh, PaMet our Needs; Amazing Sunrise, Comfortable
Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This house was what we needed to suit our family. The Bedrooms were nice , the master bedroom was like a suite on its own, with walk in shower and whirlpool tub and huge closet. If you open your eyes from the Master suite you can watch the sunrise from the King Size Bed,,, Wow. This house was pet friendly but did not look or smell like pets. The community atmosphere in a gated community felt safe and there were ample places to walk your pet.
The Kitchen, and Dining areas were plenty for our group of 10 plus dog, although the ants in the kitchen were very bothersome.
Being able to crab from and sit and relax at the boat pier was nice. The decks were adequate and the King Size Grill was more that ample.
This house was a great vacation value...

Our vacation this year was to celebrate our 34-year wedding anniversary--and it was wonderful! The weather was great and this house was the best so far for us. We have stayed at 4 other rental properties in Pirate's Cove, and this was the best so far. The house was comfortable, the amenities very user-friendly, and the location was perfect. My husband loved fishing off the pier and had much success this year. Our 8-lb. Yorkie agrees that we will be back.

We loved VL 57. It was elegant and the views were spectacular. We only wish it could have been longer. Hope to rent it again in September 2012.

My wife and I, along with our two little dogs had a very nice relaxing week's vacation at Pirates Cove. The staff at Pirates Cove is excellent, very accommodating, and did a great job in placing us in a rental that matched our needs. The property was right on the sound, great views, the house was clean, decorated very nice, and the full-time residents were extremely friendly, making you feel like you were a part of the community.
It was very easy to walk our dogs and Pirates Cove provided everything you needed for residents and guest to clean up after pets...
The Marina was very helpful on setting up our fishing trip, they had people that cared about your experience and people who were well-trained in fishing, this service was outstanding.
We are planning to make another weeks trip back in October, this spot is a perfect location for spending vacation on the Outer Banks. -

Although we came a little early before the season kicked off, the house was awesome. The views were great, the furnishings were well thought out, it was super clean and we would come back again.

Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We had a great time at this house with our two dogs. While it was only the two of us humans, the house didn't feel too big for a couple, and would have course been very comfortable for more people. We stayed in the master on the top floor, and didn't have to set our alarm as we woke up every morning to the sun rising over the sound. Being on the sound was fantastic--it was really dynamic and had lots of personality. The kitchen was well appointed (although it would have been nice to have smaller mixing bowls), and the knives were great (super sharp!) Fridge was a little small, but workable. Seating in the living room was a little awkward, especially if you like to cuddle while watching a movie, but again, not a big deal. Deck is fully fenced/gated, so great for the dogs. Hot tub was wonderful. Wished there was a swing on the private balcony for the top floor bedroom. Resort was immaculate, staff friendly and helpful. Had the pool to ourselves basically the whole week. Before leaving, we booked it for the same time next year. Obviously it was a great time!

Left on 09/30/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We have come to Pirates Cove serval times now and had another great time! We look forward to next years visit. It was nice to having some place outside to hangout like Mimi's. I just wish the inside dining has better, so we wouldn't have to leave the property to eat out. I will be looking forward to the 2012 Pirates Cove brochure, so we can plan next years visit.

RaleighA perfect vacation home!
Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We stayed in the home for the last week in July, right smack-dab in the middle of the epic heat wave of 2011. The home was in great condition with new appliances everywhere, and the aC kept us reliably cool. We were thoroughly surprised and pleased at how well-stocked the house was with utensils and gadgets (the Wii was fun for everyone!). The hot tub was clean and ready to go as soon as we arrived (and cleaned once or twice while we were there).
We had an infant and a medium sized dog in our group and they both loved the house. We were so happy to find a dog-friendly home, and we'd like to emphasize that were no pet smells or stains. It is really a clean and beautiful house. Our dog loved to curl up in the middle of the living room after a long walk around the docks. The community, in general, is great for well-behaved dogs.
The dragon flies were out in full force, especially on the back deck, but after a day we got used to them... especially since mosquitos are a favorite snack of theirs! The grill worked wonderfully but was unfortunately left in a messy state... nothing a little high heat and quick-scraping couldn't fix.
By the 2nd or 3rd day there, everyone in our group was discussing how we wanted to come back to this exact house again next year. Clearly, we love the house and can't wait for next summer! -

Richmond, VALovely Vacation Home
Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We've been renting homes on the Outer Banks for over 20 years and this home was the nicest decorated home that we've stayed in. It was very comfortable for our family of four, plus two dogs. The best part was being able to have our two labs with us! Only issue was that the parking is very tight. We had a boat trailer and three vehicles and could barely fit in the driveway, even though the home is advertised as accomodating four vehicles and a trailer. Beautiful view of the sound.

The home was very hot when we arrived. But the office sent someone immediately to help. It took almost all evening to get it cool and the thermostat said it was 80 inside. We were very hot moving in. Other than that everything was fine. Nice check-in folks. Nice repair person. Quick service. The house was well equipped.

Left on 06/22/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This is our 8th year staying at Pirate's Cove. It is a tradition our family looks forward to every year. We have two teenage boys and they love it too. This house was great...it said it was pet friendlly, but we didn't see or smell any "pet friendly" evidence! Loved the view, hot tub, bedrooms, great equipped kitchen. The only thing we didn't like was the couch. It was not too comfortable and the light from back sliding door was a bit glaring at times coming into living room. Overall, great and wish we could have stayed longer!!

Durham, NCNew Family Tradition
Left on 11/18/2009 for a stay in October 2009
We started this tradition about 4 years ago, each time a fall retreat to Pirate's Cove, taking my mother and father for their yearly fishing trip. This is our second year in VL #57. My father loves the fish cleaning station, and we all love the view. The house and furnishings have been great both times. The house is located in a good spot and the walking around the property is enjoyed by all. We have a mature small lap dog, who is very well trained, the only reason this got 4 instead of 5 stars is there were a couple spots where territory had been marked by a four legged family member.

Left on 10/22/2009 for a stay in October 2009
We had a family get together here in early October, weather n the 80s, awesome time.
The inside of the house was exceptional however the back deck was pretty dirty upon our arrival and the grill was unusable. We hosed the decks off and everything was fine
Would definetly stay again during this time of year as the crowds have all left.
The family dog loved it also.
Greaat to have all the linens and towels already in place. -

The vacation was wonderful!!!! The house was great. The only disappointment
was the description of the house stated that there were 2 double seat kayaks.
There was only one. Also, it stated that the living room sofa opened to a
queen size bed. It did not open at all. We had guests, they slept on the floor.
We look forward to next year!

My family and I had a wonderful time in this well equipped(flat screened TVs and a great kitchen) house. The view is fantastic and I don't think that we have ever felt more relaxed. Having our family dog there with us(pet friendly rental) was a huge plus and made this a perfect vacation! We have stayed at other Pirates Cove Rentals and this home is at the top of my list. My only complaint was the weight of the hot tub cover.

This home is very beautiful, directly on the sound, in a very private community. The house was very clean, and all I needed for cooking was there. Plus, the people from the Pirate's Cove office were absolutely wonderful and helpful. My husband, my son and I, had a very nice time (in fact it was too short!!!!). I will gave to this property a ten on a ten.
