      I was dissapointed.

Left on 10/14/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We've been coming to Pirate's Cove for over 13 years and this is our 4th time staying in Vl70. We've always been very happy with any of the VL homes but this time this particular house has really let the maintenance go. Screens were torn or not even on the porch, no working outside lights downstairs, floors were still dirty, bunk beds were are ripped, beds are wobbly and very uncomfortable, wall papers peeling off the walls, towel racks were also coming off the walls, living room sofas have seen better days, remote controls were broken and tires were off the bicycles so we couldn't use them. That was just to name a few. I only made my complaint to the maitenance person that showed up to replace all the outside lights and his only reply was there were so many units and one of him. We usually stay for a week but this time we could only stay for 3 nights and I'm so glad the trip was shorter. I really hope Pirate's Cove will step up their game in making their rentals worth the money we're paying. Also, the renters in the unit next door also had a lot of complaints about their home in need of maintenance.

      Awesome view!

Second time we stayed here. Great view. Awesome place to relax. Child safe house. The bed and pillows were different from the last time we stayed in the second master bedroom. Wasn't bad but wasn't as comfortable as 2 years ago. Definitely worth renting!

Love the house and the location but the construction next door from early morning to evening was very very annoying . We have been coming here for years and will come back.

      Awesome Vacation!!

Left on 08/01/2009 for a stay in May 2009

We love Pirates Cove! This was our seventh year to come to OBX and Pirates Cove. This house has been our favorite house so far. The house is beautiful and well maintained. Just like home!! We did have an issue with the air conditioning on day one, but the maintenance staff came quickly and had repaired that same day. The only suggestion that we would have to enhance the house would be to install wireless internet service (presently has DHL, but no wireless service) and to have at least four bicycles (adult size). It is awesome to stay on the sound and have the Ocean/beach a short drive away. Very family friendly and safe location for a wonderful vacation!

      Comfortable Week with some disappointments.

Left on 07/30/2009 for a stay in June 2009

This home while very well decorated and met our families space requirements was lacking in some general house keeping areas. Upon arrival there was a foul odor outside the back door of the unit. Found a bag full of old dirty disposable diapers and discard rancid fish bait left in the car port area.
The inside of the unit while generally clean the bath room floors had not been swept and we found the kitchen lacking in enough silver ware for a party of 10. The nursery room also had an odor fortunately we did not have an infant that needed to use that space.
Like most families we where anxious to setup house for the week so we took care of cleaning and removing the trash ourselves. But upon telling management of the condition we found the unit in we really did not get any kind of positive reaction from them other than to tell us we should have called when we found the problems.
We also did not realize how close to the maintenance shed this unit was. This made the unit hard to enter and leave from but more importantly on two mornings during our stay maintenance personnel woke up the children sleeping in the front of the house.
Our family has stayed in multiple location at Pirates Cove over the years both homes and condo's. This last visit accommodations where less than ideal and I would not recommend this specific property to potential guest. This visit we did notice the excellent attention and hospitality we have received at Pirates Cove in the past was lacking. We are hoping we just caught a bad week at the beginning of the season but it will give us pause to consider other accommodations on the outer banks the next time we visit.

Great home, fun fishing from dock!!

Left on 01/27/2009 for a stay in June 2008

Pirates Cove is a wonderful place to stay. We have been coming here for many years and have enjoyed many of the homes in Village Landing. The bedroom/bathroom layout worked very well for the two families that vacationed together. Our boys (6,8 and 10) enjoyed fishing from the dock every morning and evening. We we able to watch them from the deck and enjoy a little time of relaxation!! The only problem we ran into was getting our boat trailer in the garage under the house because the maintenance shed was across from our home (on the island between the homes)and we had to unhook the trailer and manually push it in (ugh). Other than that, we had a fabulous time and have already booked our vacation for next June at Pirates Cove!

      Great Views

Left on 12/13/2008 for a stay in July 2008

We have stayed in this home twice so far. It is beautifully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking the entire week.

There were plenty of items for everyone in the family, including baby items and games for the kids.

The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone. We used the fishing equipment and dock several times a day. It was fun to catch crabs in the crab trap. We even found a seahorse in the trap one day!!

We loved the activities for the kids at the clubhouse. Pirate's Cove is a great small community where the kids rode bikes and scooters safely. We loved the fishing tournament for kids (The trophy remains elusive to us, though!!).

Adults used the docks for walking/jogging, as well as the community workout building. There are several fairly new treadmills and ellipticals, as well as stationary bikes. We also used the weight machines and free weights.

We have returned to Pirate's Cove every summer for about 6 years and will continue to visit every summer for as long as we can!

      Nice home

Left on 12/13/2008 for a stay in September 2008

Our family has stayed at Pirates Cove for several years and absolutely love it! This house was very nice. My only complaint is the parking. It states parking is available for several vehicles, and it is, though they must be one behind the other. Anytime one of the cars is wanting to leave, the others will have to move their car first. And because it is on a small section of divided rd, you must all back up and circle aroune the area. Luckily, we were there in Sept when it wasn't quite as crowded. I can see how it really become a problem during the busy times.
