Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012
For a rental that was for 10 it was not equipped to handle it in towels and pots and pans. We had stayed at Pirates Cove many times before and never had any complaints. This time the bedding left something to be desired. The roll away bed linens had urine stains on them in all we all were disappointed in this stay

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This home is very well decorated, and my family of four, my children's two friends, my parents, and our two labs had a wonderful time. This must be the most pet friendly home, but it is also very nice and clean for families without pets. The front porch, back deck and the entire carport area under the home can be gated for multiple outdoor options for your pets. There is a separate lower level indoor area to provide air conditioning for your pets, should you wish to keep them inside, but not in the living area. Everyone in our group enjoyed this home, and we would rent this same home again. The staff at Pirates Cove are the best I have ever dealt with for any vacation! Your concerns are taken seriously, and they respond very quickly to requests. Rent this home, and have a vacation to remember!

Gretna, VASecond time in this house!
Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed in this house back in the fall and were glad to be able to get it again a few weeks ago. House is very spacious and clean! Thanks for allowing our four-legged child to stay. We were lucky enough to spot a school of dolphins playing in the sound in front of the house - so amazing! We hope to be back in the fall!

This is the second year we rented VL #81. We really liked the house and had a great time. However, the owner's need to replace the bikes, grill and beach chairs. All three are well used and need replacement. The community center at Pirate's Cove was great. We enjoyed the crafts and DJ pool party. The staff was very friendly.

Absolutely love this house. Have stayed there twice in the last six months. It is the most dog friendly home you could want! Love the gated porches. Very comfortable and well maintained. Pirates Cove hospitality is outstanding.

Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We've vacationed in Pirates Cove for nearly a decade and decided that Village Landings #81 is our favorite house! We loved the open floor plan on the main floor and all the windows overlooking the sound. The master suite is amazing with another gorgeous view. This was the perfect house for a family with kids and a pet. We've already booked our stay for next year!

Left on 12/01/2010 for a stay in November 2010
This was our first time staying in a house at Pirates Cove and all staff were very friendly and helpful when making reservation, checking in and out. The house was very nicely decorated and we enjoyed all the owner's pictures of family/pets. The house was very clean and very comfortable and we felt like home from the start. We enjoyed beautiful weather all week and had a lovely view of the sound. Our dogs enjoyed the gated front and back decks. The Ballast Point landscaping was beautiful as well and made for enjoyable long walks. The queen size bedroom could use better lighting for reading and the lights in entry foyer were not working but we were delighted that the fireplace was working and the set up for watching Dvds was perfect. We definitely look forward to vacationing again at this house in Pirate's Cove.

Bluffton, SCWonderful!
Left on 10/21/2010 for a stay in October 2010
The house was great and the furnishings and decorations were beautiful. The different rooms' decor was very professional. You can tell the owners spend time there because of all the personal touches. We were there for a wedding and the accomodations allowed us to entertain small groups of people there for the wedding. My only critisism is that the comforter in the upstairs queen bedroom was covered in dog hair. Even pet owners wouldn't like that much dog hair on the bed.

Left on 09/15/2010 for a stay in September 2010
This is a lovely, comfortable home that I'd gladly visit again. It is pet friendly too. Had a problem with ants in the kitchen, but I asked them not to spray the house because my dog was there. This did not ruin the trip at all. Houses are very close together, but there were no privacy problems.

With the exception of an ant invasion the first two days we were there, it was a great week in a comfortable, well equipped home. It was probably the most personable rental home we've ever stayed in and is obviously owned by someone who loves their family, friends and their dogs! It had to be one of the best weeks we've had at the beach in recent years because the weather was almost perfect. Our dogs loved the back yard and the pier, it was hard to keep them out of the water! We'll definitely be back!

Left on 06/23/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We have been vacationing in the Outer Banks for 15 years and have stayed many places including ocean front property. This house is the best house we have ever stayed in. It was well decorated and was very comfortable. The view off the back decks were incredible. Especially the sunrise in the morning. Fishing and crabbing was great for the kids. With the added amenities of pet friendly, wireless internet, bicycles and a community pool it was the best location for a family to stay. This is our third year staying in Pirates Cove and it gets better every year. We recommend any of the houses in Pirates Cove. They are well maintained and clean. See you next year.

This is our 4th year staying a Pirates Cove each year in a different location in the complex. This home was nicer than advertised. The online pictures do this home no justice. The views of the sound from the back two decks was amazing in the morning and evening. The dock was a wonderful extra that my husband and children enjoyed daily with fishing and crabbing. This home was a pet friendly resident and you would never know that people vacationed in this home with their pets because it was so clean when you took occupancy. I hope that this home is available next summer, because we wouldn't think twice about staying there again.

virginiaWarm & inviting beach house for warm & wonderful summer vacation
Left on 08/27/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Great location on sound side, with beautiful view! Location with dock provide for "endless" hours of entertainment--fishing! House is tastifully decorated without the usual teals and shells. It was warm and inviting with orange/red color palette and with photos of family, friends and man's best friends (lots of dogs). Relaxing as well. The owner has a sense of humor, too. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed.
Would have given it a 5 except the DVD player did not work. When we reported it, we learned the last renters had reported it as well, so that meant the owners had had an opportunity to have it replaced. Our son had planned the evening by selecting his latest find of a movie and renting a DVD so he was kinda disappointed. We all recovered, though and regrouped. The stove also had a mind of it's own, with beeping and messaging on the front screen--reported that as well, but never did figure it out.
If young children are coming, need to put lots of items out of reach! Our kids are grown so that was not an issue. They were not too grown not to enjoy riding the bikes and chasing other teenagers of the opposite sex!
Of note, this was a last minute vacation and the two individuals that helped us in the office actually acted as if they wanted our business. All the other rental offices acted as if we were an imposition.Response from Pirate's Cove Vacation Rentals & Property Mngmnt - 12/28/2009

Charlotte, NCWe live Pirates Cove
Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in July 2009
My family and I have been visiting Pirate's Cove for the last six years and have stayed in a new home each visit. This house is very nice and comfortable but not quite as listed. For instance, there are only two bikes, not four, there is no fish cleaning station at either dock location, and the boat slip listed was taken by another boat. We had to relocate our boat three times before we were told to put it in the next doors rental slip. Some features on this home are a bit run down (gate in drive way is falling off, and out door shower is NASTY and some interior wall coverings could be updated) On the flip side, the view is top notch and the fishing from the dock was great. We brought our dog and the gated front & rear porch are a very nice touch. Other then the minor mishaps we loved our stay and will be returning next year. Just in a diferent home, as usual.

As Murphy's Law would have it, we were at Pirate's Cove during a incredibly stormy week. Whitecaps to be seen in the commode!
The home itself, and the Pirate's Cove property however were wonderful. Everyone at the Rental Mgmt. office was very pleasant and helpful. Overall, the vacation home was a very good value, and regardless of the weather.
If you can't figure out how to have a good time staying on the Outer Banks, the problem is probably YOU. :-) -
