This unit is wonderful. The view of the marina is awesome. The distance to the pool can not be beaten. With only a 4 minute drive to the ocean, it is actually more convenient than staying farther up the beach. The unit was in immaculate condition. The layout was perfect for my family of 5. The kitchen had all the utensils and cookware that we could imagine. Loved having views of the water from the front and back of the property. I will definitely stay in this unit again.

We recently stayed at 704 Shallowbag Bay our experience there was excellent. The unit was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. It was only a 5 minute ride to the beach. My only complaint was the game room and workout center, both old and broken down. The cardio equiptment was very outdated. It would serve the property managers well to update these areas if the owners are advertising them as part of their rentals. That is just a very small part of an otherwise excellent vacation. Thank you.

The marsh view out back is lovely and serene, I enjoyed the screened in porch. Inside the furnishings are comfortable and attractive. The location is ideal for me, a nice walk along the docks or short bike ride to town and then the bike trail are a nice way to start the day. Location is good for exploring Manteo, a day trip to Ocrakoke or up to four wheel area in the north.

We were there the week just after Labor Day, so the restaurants were only half full, and the beach was half empty. Our unit was the only one in our building with people, so we had no worries about neighbors disturbing us or we them. Our unit was clean, looked just like the pictures. We were surprised to find the bar alcove. Everything worked, everything was wonderful. For myself, next time I will check for internet access, but otherwise this unit and the Shallowbag Bay Club Resort was perfect for my husband and myself and our two grown children.

We normally stay in Duck when at the OBX. This was our first stay in Manteo and we were a little disappointed that we couldn't find something closer to the ocean but none were available (partial week rental). We absolutely loved Shallowbag Bay Condos. Less crowded, beautiful sunrises & sunsets, tastefully decorated condo with ample porches. The beach was only 5 min drive away with plenty of parking. Small complaint...the gym could use some updated treadmills. Manteo and Shallowbag Bay are now our first choice for OBX destination. We'll definitely be back!

Elevator for Mom, running path, pool, workout room and pingpong for the kids, lots of balconies for everyone overlooking the marsh and marina so you can find a shady spot at any time of day...a perfect location to explore the Outer Banks. Easy drive to Coquina Beach, Alligator River Preserve for Kayaking, downtown for dinner and Lost Colony, Basnight Farmstead. Beautiful decor, perfect layout for three generations to co-exist for a week. Great kitchen for cooking all the fresh seafood we bought in Wanchese.

The only problems we had were 2 cockroaches and a very noisy and early rising upstairs neighbor (706). He also let his dog pee on the deck and so it fell through to our 2nd floor where my husband and son were playing on the deck below...thankfully they were a few feet over from where the dog was relieving itself! Also, the beds were painfully uncomfortable and I ended up sleeping on the sofa b/c of the discomfort of the master bed.

Very clean and convenient to downtown Manteo. The added toads croaking
was an added bonus! Who knew that toads could sound that way. The elevator
was an added plus for the initial un-packing. Overall it was a great place to

This is the third time I have used Pirate's Cove Realty for an escape to Manteo. Everything concerning my stay was wonderful!!! The property was very clean and the staff of Pirate's Cove Realty were very helpful!!! I am in the Vacation Rental business and I can only hope that my own guests are treated as well as I was this past Christmas in Manteo.

Shallowbag Bay Club #704 is a wonderfully appointed condo that was very comfortable. It had all the daily needs to make the week in Manteo and at the beach just grand. The development is off the beaten path, yet just a 10 minute walk from the Manteo "Downtown." It was nice to walk along the marina boardwalk and look at the boats, even taking in the sight of the porpoises that came into the cove to play. There are plenty of decks to enjoy both in the front and back of the condo, and the view is very nice.
One regret is that the on-site restrauant, Stripers, opened at 3 and closed at 930. Darrell's, just at the entrance to the development, filled the spot nicely! Some extra chairs on the deck to seat more than two people would be nice, and boy is that elevator SLOW. But, truly, a fantastic place to stay with your family. Enjoy!
