Left on 02/11/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This is our fourth time in Costa Rica and the first time at Casa Mono Congo. The house made the vacation! It is an amazing place - the pool, patios, and balconies connect you to the jungle, and the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens are comfortable and luxurious. This is the perfect place to stay in Manuel antonio, and we'll be back again in the future.
By the way, Terry (the owner) is really nice to work with to set up the stay, and the people on-site (maid, pool-guy, house manager) were all very friendly and there to help when we needed something. -

I had not been to Costa Rica previously and had really know idea what to expect. Pete, Terry and their staff made the trip a breeze! The house was absolutely fabulous. I could have spent the whole trip in the lovely pool. The outting to the spice plantation was terrific! My companions went on the zipline canopy tour and raved about it when they got back. The only problem was I had to come back home to Minnesota...

Lancaster, CASpectacular property with an even-better view
Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Casa Mono Congo is a drop-dead gorgeous four bedroom home in Barrio Manuel antonio. Away from the most touristy hotels in Manuel antonio, but close to restaurants and markets, the location is perfect. And as it is situated on a hill, the view of the Pacific Ocean and beaches below is just gorgeous.
Plenty of wildlife abounds; we saw both spider and capuchin monkeys nearly every day. The house itself has every mod con imaginable and is just impeccably comfortable. From the outdoor grill to the full stocked kitchen to the individual a/C units in each bedroom to the rooftop wet bar... Casa Mono Congo has it all. -

Our family stayed at Casa Mono Congo for the 4th time in January. It is without question our favorite place in the world. The house is absolutely gorgeous with spectacular views of the pacific ocean and monkeys that visit every day. Nature surrounds you. The staff is superb from the house manager to the maid and gardener. The location is just a short walk to some of the best resturants in Manuel antonio our favorites are aqua azul and Salsipuedes. The area is extremely safe a great spot for the kids. The beach is very close and the park is a must. Cozy, clean, with every modern convenience I can't thank Terry and Pete enough for sharing their wonderful vacation home with our family. We look forward to coming back again next year. The Regan's

Chicago, ILA Modern Paradise
Left on 01/20/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Costa Rica in December is my kind of December: 70's temperature, breath-taking terrain, and relaxation or wild fun depending on what your mood is. What really made my trip just even a bit more amazing was...
Casa mono Congo!
I had seen pictures of this house, and the views it had to offer, but they do little to prepare you for what you actually get to experience once there. This house is a modern paradise set on the ocean facing hill-sides of Manuel antonio. Though, I wasn't at first sure about the bright colors of Casa Mono I found it added to the jazzed feeling of being in Costa Rica; like Christmas decorations do for the Christmas holiday.
I imagined going to Costa Rica and not caring where I stayed because I'd be so enamored by the landscape and activities I had planned to do. However, the first (and last night) of our stay at Casa Mono we decided to stay in, cook a nice dinner, and make use of the many amazing views offered by any of the balconies this place had. It was like you'd think you'd seen the last room and amazing sea side views the house had when you'd stumble across another room. The rooms all had their own over-sized spa style bathrooms, and showers that left you feeling a bit..."in the mood."
There are many things I could continue to write, but I doubt this would get read then. The point to take away is... This place made Costa Rica that much more enjoyable when you'd think it couldn't possibly be. The owners are very accommodating, and have a great staff on hand for any of your needs.
Stay here!! It's worth it!!Response from Peter Thelen & Terry Childers - 01/25/2011

Naperville, IL, U.S.A.Can't Wait To Go Back To Mono Congo Villa!!!
Left on 11/29/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Through friends, we were told about their relaxing, comfortable and fun time staying at this villa with their family. They highly recommended it as a clean, spacious, well-appointed vacation home with an amazing view from every window of the the jungle and Pacific Ocean. After staying there in august, we completely agree and can't wait to go back!
An excellent place to stay in the Manuel antonio Park area.
The casa is situated away from the busy road which was nice but was accessible to nightlife nearby. We especially liked the agua azul restaurant! We were even able to walk to a local grocery and shop for ourselves - though a shopper is available from what we understand. Another perk was that we were even provided with a consierge who arranged a great canopy zipline tour that was well worth the price!! We also walked to the spectacular Manuel antonio Park, but there is also public transportation/ busses that wil take you there in minutes.
And then there's the monkeys that come by (at least) once a day - or did for us the week we were there. I can't even begin to tell you how cool that was. They are fascinating to watch as they drape them selves on the rails and they even played in the hammock! I also saw a Mono Congo / Howler Monkey in the branches sleeping in a tree next to to the house.
Oh, and we loved the patio on the third floor! It was a great place to lounge, nap, take in the beautiful view, listen to the waves, sip drinks from the ajoining bar, tan - to just destress. And we did! Thanks to our hosts who gave us a happy and memorable experience. I wonder if you too will find yourself saying "Wow!" at every turn at Casa Mono Congo-Howler Monkey Villa. -

Left on 11/16/2010 for a stay in November 2009
We totally enjoyed our vacation & our hosts were very helpful. The Onlyh negative for us was that we had to watch our babies (1, 3 & 4) very carefully because of the pool, etc. but you have to know that going in. It is a gorgeous villa & we loved it and would go back again - knowing that we would still have to guard the children carefully!

The DelGozzo extended family were referred to us by a friend. We always appreciate referrals because that is the best type of advertising. Before departing, the DelGozzo's wrote in our guest book:
"We had an awesome time! Our sunset cruise was fabulous. We saw dolphins & loved swimming in the coves. The canopy tour was great & we would do it again. We will miss our monkeys!"
We hope you are able to return again so the children may enjoy the many activities offered in the Manuel Antonio area. Thanks for the review Alice. -

Left on 11/15/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We had a wonderful time at Casa Mono Congo. We saw monkeys, sloths, birds, frogs and geckos constantly! The pool was wonderful for cooling off on a hot day and we never needed the air conditioning as it was in a great spot for a breeze. The staff were great and the house was beautiful! The steep incline to get to the main road was a bit of a tough walk, but kept us in good shape!

The extended Aldworth family spent the entire month of October in Casa Mono Congo. It was very brave of them to vacation in October in Costa Rica. However, it was great having them and we hope they return soon.
Here is their comments from our guest book:
We have been here for a month. What a wonderful month it has been! Howlers, White-faced and Titi monkeys visited us all the time. Grandparents, parents, a 3 yr. old and an 8-month old, all had a lot of fun. Ziplining, walks, pool time, restaurants for lunch & dinner, rain and sun! Thanks for a beautiful house, great staff and a terrific month! -

I was so fortunate to have come across Casa Mono Congo years ago. I have stayed here 4 times now and have another trip planned for January 2011. This is our location of choice in Costa Rica. We highly recommend this house- you will be made to feel like you are part of the Casa Mono Congo family.

Suzanne, family & friends have stayed in both Casa Mono Congo & Casa Mono Titi several times over the years. We look forward to their return in January 2011.
Before departing, they wrote the following in our guest book:
"As I sit here at the table enjoying this stunning view, I struggled to find the words that will adequately articulate what this trip and this house have meant to our group. Suzanne & Colleen chose this location for their honeymoon and they asked the rest of us to join them for what has become the experience of a lifetime. From the moment we arrived we have been treated like royalty. Marisol, our cook, prepared a delightful meal that welcomed us to Casa Mono Congo and every moment since has been filled with comfort, joy, excitement and wonder at the wildlife and beauty that surrounds us here. We have explored all that the house has to offer and this has truly been a home as if we have been here many months and not just a week. We have been awakened by the sound of howler monkeys and been awed and amused by the Titi and white-faced monkeys who have come by the house as if to give us their own welcome to Costa Rica. We have seen toucans and a variety of insects unlike anything we have seen before – all of which has humbled us and given us a new appreciation for nature and a renewed sense of spirit about our place in the world. Each evening we have been captivated by the sunsets seen from the 3rd floor bar area. The relaxing sounds of the surf and sea prepared us for peaceful slumber in these comfortable beds. The maid is a joy to have around the house. She has cared for us diligently and is meticulous in her duties. Herminio is nothing short of adorable and he looks after us each evening wishing us a sincere “Buenas noches” at night. Rafael is a quiet man and we appreciate that he has kept the pool clean and ready for us to enjoy daily. Ervin is quick with a smile and makes sure everything is working around the house. The house manager has been helpful and informative and we are happy with the entire staff. Casa Mono Congo will have a special place in all of our hearts forever. We leave this place rejuvenated, renewed and with a new perspective. We are all changed by the time we have spent here. Costa Rica and Casa Mono Congo will be a part of us from now on. Thank you for allowing us to share this with you. Thank you for all this place has given us. With love, respect & sincerity."
Suzanne & Colleen are like family now to us and we look forward to each of their visits. Thank you Suzanne for reviewing our home. -

Left on 11/12/2010 for a stay in December 2009
This beautiful home takes full advantage of its spectacular tropical setting. Perched on a steep hillside, it sits just below the main road to Manuel antonio and provides beautiful ocean views and soothing breezes from its multiple terraces. During our one week stay, we were visited by a variety of local wildlife including all of the native varieties of monkey and even a two-toed sloth! A great property for housing the extended family -- we also had the charming Casa Mono Titi (immediately adjacent).

I have been to a lot of places in my life but none as peaceful and beautiful as Casa Mono Congo. The home is nestled in the trees high above the ocean with remarkable views and brilliant sunsets. Lying next to the pool in the hammock is sure to relax and soothe anyone.
The home itself is large and lovely with plenty of private places to relax and enjoy. The upper balcony was my favorite. Every so often the monkeys show up to deliver a well choreographed entertaining show. If you are looking for peace, tranquility and beauty, this property will not disappoint you. -

This trip was by far one of the best experiences in my life. The house was spectacular! The views were spectacular. The people in the area were so nice and friendly. The house is so close to everything in the Manuel antonio area that we could pretty much walk everywhere. The beach, restaurants, bars, spa, and coffee shop were just up the hill. And to top it all off nature literally comes to you. The monkeys were amazing and on our last day there, I saw Toucan's. Pete and Terry have a wonderful staff as well, who are were incrediably nice and helpful. We are trying to figure out a time to go back and experience it all over again. We had a fantastic time!

It was a delight to have Megan & Chris stay at our home, Casa Mono Congo. They needed a much deserved break from their hectic schedules and seemed to be totally relaxed by the end of their stay.
Below are their comments from our guest book in our home:
We have had such an amazing experience down here! It was everything we hoped & more. Not only is this the perfect place to relax, but there are so many different things to do. We had a great time on the canopy tour. The 7AM tour is the best time to go. Chris did the jet ski tour while I was at the spa & he had a blast. We enjoyed the frequent visits from the monkeys. They are so much fun to watch. I woke up this morning to find toucans outside the window. So cool! We really enjoyed all the different restaurants as well. Agua Azul seemed to be the place we frequented the most. Nice people, good food & great drinks. The view is nice as well. A thousand "thank yous" for this wonderful experience. We can't wait to come back!
