Jersey City, New Jersey, United StatesIncredible value! The concierge alexander was a huge help and ma

My boyfriend, 3 friends and myself rented Casa Takara this past week. Our flight had been delayed and we had quite a long trip getting there, so instead of making us go to the office to sign documents and such, our concierge alexander met us at the house, a nice touch that made a huge difference considering how exhausted we were. The house itself has a wonderful open air feel. It is a bit "no frills", 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen with basic tools. The pool and Jacuzzi were amazing, and the view from the balcony from the master bedroom was a wonderful thing to wake up to every morning. There is maid service included in the house, so fresh towels and dishes were done everyday when we got back, which is a very nice touch when you just want to come home and relax. Alexander went out of his way to make us comfortable, he even took one of the people in our party on a aTV ride around the area to show us around! All of his recommendations (zip lining, surf lessons, a guide for Manuel antonio, restaurants, a spa) were all on the money. We had a late flight out on our last day, so he made arrangements to have us leave our luggage and have a place to shower at a different property, since people were coming into Casa Takrara right after us, so we could enjoy our last day at the beach instead of waiting at the airport, totally unnecessary and a really nice gesture! Anything we needed we were able to just pick up the phone, and it really made all the difference!
The house is just down the street from a grocery store, which turned out very useful. The house is down a street that could seem a bit shady at first, but after spending just a few hours you realize that locals are very friendly and not at any point in my trip did I feel unsafe. The wifi was a bit slow at times, but who need the internet when you're on vacation anyway! For our group this house was perfect. And the incredible price allowed us to do more of the great activities in the area. I highly recommend it! Pura Vida` -

Great place, would stay here again! This was my first (but not my last) trip to Costa Rica so I had no idea what to expect. Casa Takara was a great modern home set in a typical Tico neighborhood. However, there are a few other vacation rentals on the road as well. The wall around the property added security (as did the alarm system) and privacy. However, the area is hilly so there are properties that can see into the yard but it isn’t a big deal unless you are trying to sunbath naked I guess. The house was clean and had basic cooking/dining items but most were mismatched (who cares). We picked up basic groceries coffee, snacks, water at the corner store (about a 2 min. walk). Both of us traveling were girls and I always felt pretty safe. The locals on the street were friendly and always greeted you with a smile.
The housekeeping service was nice (she even folded our laundry that we left in the dryer when we went out on an excursion and left it on the bed) she also did the few dishes we had in the sink or left out to dry. Over the entire house was clean, tidy and more so than some hotels I have stayed in. There was the occasional lizard in the house and a few bugs here and there but nothing out of the ordinary but it was great to not have hornets, wasps, moths or mosquitos (if these are prevalent in CR I wouldn’t know as we left the doors open and were happy to see no insects inside).
On the note of family I would say any family could stay here but there are things to keep in mind with kids 1 to 6 years old. The upstairs bedroom (the 3rd or master which has a separate entrance) does have a balcony that a small child could fall from if left unattended. However, there are three doors your child would have to go through and a lot of steps to get up there. Common sense would prevent this being a problem. On the same note of safety younger kids should always have a parent in eye sight and nearby when around water. If you have a younger child you will need to be with them outside as the pool and spa don’t have covers. There is a very small yard but again next to water so keep an eye on kids. Another thing to consider is if you have a smaller child and plan to stay upstairs bring the pack and play otherwise you will have to go downstairs and through three doors to get to them. Otherwise the bedrooms down stairs are suitable as well just no attached bathroom and less privacy.
The location was great as it is about a 10 min. walk to ocean side restaurants Salsapudes and Barba Roja were our favorites. The café Milagro as pretty good too for lunch, snacks and coffee, smoothies, shakes. It was easy to get a cab and go a bit further or ride the Quepos-ma bus. Alex our concierge was great about planning excursions (go surfing and waterfall repelling) and all transportation as well as anything with the house that we needed (propane went out he replaced the tank in a few hours, pool was cloudy he had it fixed by the time we got back at lunch).
I went on vacation to get away from work, relax and experience Costa Rica culture the trip was better than I had expected and I will be going back! -

Chicago, ILAbsolutely Wonderful
Left on 06/22/2012 for a stay in March 2012
I stayed at Casa Takara for a week and it was absolutely wonderful.
The house is beautifully decorated giving a serene and beachy feel to it. My partner and i felt like we were in heaven the moment we walked in. This was so much better than any hotel.
The location is superb, right in between Quepos and Manuel antonio, tucked away in the hills which not only gave us plenty of privacy but also kept us shaded from the heat.
We spent our days lounging by the pool, exploring the park, enjoying water/beach sports, and dining in amazing restaurants.
Conclusion, I can not wait to go back to Costa Rica and stay here again!
