Manzanita - This two story unit is great for those who want to just get away. Between the stone slab fireplace in the living room and the spectacular ocean views you will never want to leave the comforts of this home. This magnificent beach house has a breath-taking view of Neahkahnie mountain and the ocean surf, steps from downtown Manzanita shopping and nightlife. Bring your entire family for beachcombing, storm watching, BBQ’S on the deck and whale-watching.
You know what they say… its location, location, location... and this house has arguably the best location in Manzanita. This great house has natural wood colors, classic beach... décor and a hot tub. It also features a wood burning fireplace and a full-service kitchen . This is everything a beach house should be - not to mention the abundance of extra room! You'd have to see it to appreciate it.
This is the perfect location for families! The beach is 20 feet from the driveway, and you can sit on the front porch and watch all the fun. Or if it is stormy you can sit in the bay window for the same view. This house is stocked with everything you could ever need. FOUR CAR LIMIT

We enjoyed an incredible weekend of relaxing and restoring. Stone's Throw is wonderfully located. After walks on the beach, it was time to chill on the deck soaking in the sun, watching the tide ebb, with a bit of dozing and reading thrown in. The people and dog watching from the deck was great as well. The four teens loved the location, with bonfires on the beach each night, followed by warming up in the hot tub. If you want to relax, this is the place.
We stayed at Stone's Throw for a six-night vacation. The location is awesome! You really can't beat being across the street from the beach and a block from the coffee shop. The property itself needs a lot of updating. There are tons of magazines and books all over the house, which makes it difficult to find places to put things. The closet space is mostly devoted to blankets and pillows so it is difficult to hang your clothes. The kitchen drawers are stuffed with cooking gadgets and towels and it is tough to find things. I felt like I was staying at a relatives home because of the clutter. Also, the downstairs unit just doesn't smell right.
The management company is amazing! These ladies are so professional, friendly, and responsive.
Overall, if you want to be close to the beach, then this place is great. However, if you want a true vacation rental, then I would consider a different unit.
There were three of us staying at the location, my wife and I and a friend. My wife enjoyed the view from the window during the day when my friend and I were fishing. We enjoyed the layout of the of the house and found all of the utensils well stocked. We had a minor problem with the dishwasher but upon calling the rental agency a repairman came right away and made the adjustments to correct the problem.
We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the location.
This beach house is right across the street from the ocean. Excellent view of the beach from kitchen, living room and the deck. Even if you have rain... you will know when it's clear to walk on the beach. This is our second vacation at Stones Throw. I would recommend the house, but there are a few maintenance issues that would make it even better. I would stay at least a week if possible to enjoy the benefits of this house.

My daughter called SSVR on Thurs. morn to advise that the heat didn't work in the lower unit. She was told they would have someone out to fix it that day. We left Monday and it still hadn't been fixed. I believe I warned you last year about the cotton rugs on the tile floor in the kitchen. Slip and slide like an ice rink. Somebody is gonna fall and break their *** and you're gonna get sued. If you're too cheap to get rugs with a non-slip backing, then go to Home Depot and get some rubber mesh to put underneath.
This was my 3rd stay at Stone's Throw and 41st stay in Manzanita. Stone's Throw is a great house with the absolute best location in Manzanita, right at the end of Laneda, extremely convenient to town and the beach. The hot tub is fantastic and the property appears to have been upgraded since my previous stays (maybe it was a better TV? granite countertops? less National-Geographic-based home decor?). The smaller upstairs bedroom is pretty tiny but the bed is considerably more comfy now with the addition of a memory foam topper. The living room has futons but they are not big enough for anyone 8 years old or older to sleep on. We notified Sunset Rentals about problems with the plumbing in the downstairs unit and not enough garbage can liners (one) that didn't get solved but it didn't dampen the fun. My son was disappointed that there was no longer a foosball table downstairs but he was the only one. Lastly, you can indeed throw a stone from the house to the beach but watch for cars and pedestrians.

Beach is just right in front of you! We found that we went to the beach more due to the excellent view and access to the beach. The upstairs unit is clean and modern with excellent accommodations. The downstairs unit is basic and does not have an oven or stove. Both units together are a bit spendy... best if adult age kids, or couple not needing full kitchen. The downstairs unit smells like strong air freshener.
Had a great time at Stone's Throw-- we would definately go back again. The upstairs was comfortable and well-appointed. The downstairs was a bit musty and could use some updating. The downstairs bathroom shower head didn't work very well. But all in all, it made for a super time.

The downstairs studio seems to need some refreshing. The closet door in bath area does not slide properly, the lamp is broken (at foot of bed near futon couch) and there is no foos ball table as the website depicts. We usually rent just the top portion,
so aren't as familiar with the lower unit, but I'm not sure we would go back to rent both upper and lower. There is also a rip in the window seat cushion on the second level. Also, the upper level bathroom sink had a bad clog and the drain connects to the
washer so we couldn't do laundry or use that sink for a day. It wasn't that big of a deal, but an inconvenience. The people who responded, including the plumber were very nice and professional. Overall we love that house. We will be there again in Sept.
4 generations of our family enjoyed a memorable Thanksgiving at Stones Throw. The well equipped kitchen made it possible to have a feast away from home. There was plenty of space and of course, the view of the ocean and the easy access to the beach made the a perfect location. We had stayed in just the upstairs before and loved it. The downstairs was not as comfortable and that would be okay, but it also was not well represented in the photos on line. There is no stove and no fussball table. The coziness of upstairs is missing. But over all, it didn't keep us from having a wonderful time. We hope to go back, but probably will try for a time when we can rent just the upstairs.

Our complaint of the downstairs apartment is that it was not furnished well. It smelled damp and moldy. The shower did NOT work well. The sheets and bedding were old, mattress covers were torn and full of holes. No glasses or even one plate was downstairs. The upstairs apartment was very nice and clean. The backyard was fabulous for our dog and all the kitchen amenities were great. Overall it was a wonderful location but the downstairs needs to be upgraded. Especially for the price we had to pay it should be nicer downstairs.
This is our 3rd year in Manzanita and Stone's Throw was by far the best place ever. If you have teenagers, this is a great location - the kids can easily grab a hot dog or ice cream cone just around the block or go skim boarding or boogie boarding or use the hot tub multiple times during the day. We had two dogs who loved having a fenced backyard as well a deck that they could lay out on and "people watch".
The only bad comment would be the musty smell in the bottom unit - even with opening the windows, it smelled musty all week. We kind of expected this since previous reviews have commented about this issue.
Despite this issue, we loved staying here and got to see and experience the beautiful beach 24/7 -we'll be back.

loved the location. we never got back in our car. we never had to pack up to go to the beach. if we forgot something, we walked right back into the house and got it. walked to coffee, pizza, farmers market, etc... we even prepared meals in the open kitchen and dining area. loved our stay.
The upstairs is very nice and the downstairs okay. Good for pets. However, we were not informed the hot tub was not working and the rental agent never called back to confirm that it would not be during our stay. Will see if they remember to credit the fee. Too bad since HT was one of the reasons we chose the site. Beach access is easy and backyard is nice.

We had a fabulous time at Stone's Throw. We had problems with our accomodations somewhere else and the manager there found this house for us. Pet friendly and right across from the beach=couldn't have been better! Only issue(4 stars) was that most of the dishes from downstairs unit must have migrated to upstairs unit over time. Not much in the cupboards down there. since we had both it was not a problem for us.
Thank you! We will be back!

The upstairs unit is delightful. If it's too windy on the beach go on the back deck and enjoy the hot tub. The downstairs is very musty though and we had to switch around who was staying down there because of respirtory issues.
this was our 3rd time at the house - overall, great

only one thing - lower unit smelled quite musty - should have been aired out.
Thanks for lightening up on the laundry requirements! Made our last morning so very much more relaxed and pleasant and we still got the last load in the washer with one in the dryer!
When looking for a vacation house I didnt think being right off the beach was a big deal until staying here at Stones throw. It was such a fun and PERFECT location. Since we went prepared with food for our stay we did not have to move the cars once! All activities were so convenient. Town was just around the corner, beach right across the street, and everything we needed was there at the house. The house was FULLY equipped. Another favorite of the group (14 of us!) was the view from the kitchen and family room. We were able to be in the house, yet see the beautiful beach from just across the street. Whoever wanted to go to the beach went, and those of us who didn't, were still able to enjoy the fun they were having from watching from the house. I can't express what a great house this is. It has a large deck (perfect for dogs), large fenced back yard and most important, it is family/pet friendly. A home is not "family friendly" if it is not pet friendly. We had a wonderful stay. Everything was perfect!
