Manzanita - Must Rent Both units for All Holidays/July/August
This home is great for those who want to just get away. Between the stone slab fireplace in the living room and the spectacular ocean views you will never want to leave the comforts of this home. This magnificent beach house has a breath-taking view of Neahkahnie mountain and the ocean surf, steps from downtown Manzanita shopping and nightlife. Bring your entire family for beachcombing, storm watching, BBQ’S on the deck and whale-watching. You know what they say… its location, location, location... and this house has arguably the best location in Manzanita. This great hous...e has natural wood colors, classic beach décor and a hot tub. It also features a wood burning fireplace and a full-service kitchen . This is everything a beach house should be! You'd have to see it to appreciate it. This is the perfect location for families! The beach is 20 feet from the driveway, and you can sit on the front porch and watch all the fun. Or if it is stormy you can sit in the bay window for the same view. This house is stocked with everything you could ever need.
The week in May was our second stay at Stone's throw. We returned for the unbeatable location & views. Stumbling down the steps & across to the beach was heavenly. We have 2 daughters, ages 3&4, who couldn't have enjoyed the week any more. Here is my perspective on this property:
It is an aging rental, in an amazing location, reasonably priced. The rental would greatly benefit from some modest updating, & extensive cleaning & organizing. It is falling into the trap that many rentals do, disarray. The beds are comfortable, but bedding is old. Closets are crammed with too many poor quality sheets & blankets. Doubtful that they get used. Space would be better for guests to place their belongings in.
Shelves are crammed with old national geographic magazines. Again, leaves no where for guests to store our belongings. The bedrooms are small, yet comfortable. Just in need of space/closet/shelves for guests to use.
The home is cozy, & overall comfortable. If you're okay with losing privacy (deck adjacent to motel rooms) for the amazing view, it's worth it. We will likely return again. Really minor criticisms

This is the second time we have stayed at Stones Throw and have enjoyed both times. Love the location and the friendly staff @ Sunset. The only thing that could have made the stay a little nicer was if there was better furniture in the house. Other than that it was a great experience and stay.
We've stayed at Stones Throw 3 times now. We love the 's just across the street from the beach and around the corner from shops and restaurants. The front room with its window seat is perfect for watching the waves. We will definitely continue coming to Stones Throw...and Sunset Vacation Rentals is excellent!
I've stayed here several times, it's a perfect holiday home and very cozy, warm and well equipped. I'm really pleased the maintenance work and updates have been completed since my last visit. This is my go to place in Manzanita.

We love the Stone's Throw cottage! It has breathtaking views of the ocean, a cozy fireplace, a hot tub, and plenty of space for the whole family. Sunset Vacation Rentals has professional and courteous staff who responded immediately when we had questions. We will definitely be back!
This was the most awesome home and location and non expensive!!!

Coming here while Arkansas was having the most horrible heated summer this was the most awesome place. Everything was awesome from the weather to the most incredible site seeing the ocean right out the front window watching the waves along with the hot tub to relax in (just alittle work on it would be nice)then to lay in the most comfortable beds with pillows made in heaven. Then having the most updated kitchen and being able to wash clothes daily. All I can say is it made my vacation awesome and I will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was a drizzly weekend, but when we couldn't be outdoors we had plenty of space indoors for myself and my three adult sons to spend some quality time together. The property was conveniently close to the beach with a great view and close to town. It was very well stocked with towels, kitchen utensils, etc. We especially enjoyed the library of National Geographics, and the good television reception so my son could watch the US Open.
Our only comment on the cleanliness is that the sheets in the master bedroom had dog hair on them so evidently had not been changed. I found a clean set in the closet and washed up the ones that were on the bed when we arrived. Also, several spots on the carpet in the master bedroom.
Overall, we would give this property and our experience an excellent rating and would recommend the upper unit for a comfortable stay.

STONES THROW was so much nicer than I would have reasonably expected. It was directly across the street from the beach, and the deck was a perfect place to sit and watch sunrises and sunsets over the ocean. The town of Manzanita, which is lovely and charming, is just around the corner, a two-minute walk to everything. When I am home, I drive everywhere. It was so refreshing to be able to walk to the restaurants and the grocery store. A perfect vacation to relax and enjoy the coastline.
Perfect location and size, lovely to have a fireplace, fantasic view and direct beach access with a sunny deck facing the ocean. It couldn't have been better.
Very well equipped spacious kitchen.
Problems with the hot tub not working on arrival left us without it for 1 day of a 2 day stay, very disappointing. I had to work out how to get it working again myself as there weren't any instructions, the agency didn't know when I called and were unable to get the engineer to call until the next day. The furniture is very worn and not very clean with some broken covers as was some of the bedding. The main bedroom bed frame is extremely noisy and needs immediate replacing. Had there been more than 2 of us staying it would have been a problem to use it, we switched rooms.
I really enjoyed my stay despite these issues but feel the steeper price doesn't reflect the quality of the property, but the location is priceless! I would definitely recommend staying here with reservations pending the repair work, maintenance and updating needed. Read more

- property managers
- the unit is stocked with everything one needs to cook for a family (including the gas grill)
- the ph level on the hot-tub didn't allow us to use it
- the beds could be replaced. we ended up sleeping on the futons in the living room
Although it's tough to have fun when you don't sleep well, this place was fantastic and I'm going to try to reserve it on our next trip out to the coast. Read more

The house was very nice. The main issue was that the hot tub would only get up to 100 degrees when the cover was on it. As soon as the cover was removed, and two to four people got in, the temperature would rapidly drop and keep dropping (94 degrees and below) to the point that we would all just have to get out. We were really hoping to get to spend more time in the hot tub during our stay. That was one of the main selling points of the house for us. Also, the bed frame in the back bedroom is loose and creaks and pops and makes A LOT of noise whenever a person makes the slightest movement on the bed. Otherwise, the stay was enjoyable. Read more

Everyting was perfect except I think the circuit breaker turned off the hot tub and we had to call the office to get it operational again. It was the kids' first time and they had a wonderful time and want to go there again :)

This is a great beach house in a very convenient location. All reviews I read befor hand were right on. Unfortunatly the complaints on the beds being uncomfortable were also true. Your shoulders and head feel like they are lower than your body. after a couple restless nights I figured out that additional pillows helped but for the minimal price of a matress the owner should replace them. On a positive note the house is much roomier than the pictures depict. The deck out front is also very large. Amnities such as knives, small appliances were in excess of what I have expereineced in a beech house and high quality. Will definiatly consider for the next trip.

This was our first stay in Manzanita and we were both pleasantly surprised with what we found. The locals were welcoming and pleasant, the shops were fantastic, and the views were simply amazing. We will be back. The only issue is that the beds are very uncomfortable and so are the foutons in the living room. The views made it manageable, but I would recommend replacing all the mattresses stat. : )
Thought we would mind being on the main drag but it was not an issue. The house was very well supplied. A few problems: The heaters in the master bedroom and dining area only put out cold air. The toilet paper holder and the silverware drawer need repair. Otherwise the house was spotless and very enjoyable.

My boyfriend and I and another couple stayed at the Stones Throw upper unit over a stormy weekend in October. It was super clean and tastefully decorated. We loved that the kitchen was big enough to cook and all hang out. Beautiful view of the ocean from the living room and kitchen. The private hot tub on the back deck was a wonderful treat as well. We have recommended this property to all of our friends and will definitely be back!

I can't say enough about the FANTASTIC time we had. I read many of other guest comments that were very helpful. We brought coffee, food, foil, saran, extra lg garbage bags, and don't forget the doggy towel...making it all very comfortable and not having to run out to the store all the time. The size and location of the house is a plus. Our dogs sleep in crates and they were happy to retire early with all the fun on the beach. We will be back for another birthday beach blast.
What a wonderful location! My wife and I enjoyed our 2nd stay as well as our first stay in this great house. We appreciate the owners opening their house to be available for others to enjoy.

Stones Throw is a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect and the view spectacular. It's just a short walk, with our dog, to most destinations in town. Over the years I have stayed at Stones Throw about 5 times and keep going back time after time....what a great vacation home.
