Manzanita - 8 Steps Inn is just 8 steps to the beach path!! This charming house has a spacious living room with 17 ft ceilings, a large flat screen TV, wood stove, and amazing ocean views. The kitchen and dining room have all new stainless steel appliances and lots of open space perfect for your family to gather. The large fully fenced back yard includes a picnic table and fire pit.

Great property - I'd rent again. I did not realize it was secondary property (you have to cross a road to go to the beach). Just a bit decieving from the web site and title of the house. It wasn't a show stopper because the house was great.

We've stayed at a few homes with SSVR and at their recommendation they sent us to 8 Step Inn and we were very happy. Best bed, well equipped kitchen, and fire pit in back yard were highlights.

We arrived at dusk and the lights were on so it looked like home! Very well appointed and the kitchen had most everything we needed except a cookie sheet. The little stove was great. Beds were comfortable. being right across from a public beach pat made it easy to take the dogs to the beach for a walk. We'll be back!

This is a terrific house just across the street from the beach! It feels warm & cozy like a beach house should, inviting with an excellent wood stove, huge open concept floor plan kitchen-dining area, two bedrooms with two bathrooms make it ideal for two couples to share or a family! Beds & linens super comfy, the best stocked vacation rental we've experienced yet! Some may think its a bit of a walk to town, but it's actually only several blocks - great for us! Top quality pet friendly house, our dog loved it too :)

Just returned from an awesome six night stay in this warm, cozy & inviting house! We have rented various vacation houses here & this is by far the best, especially for a pet friendly accommodation. The floor plan is perfect from the open concept, large & super well stocked kitchen & dining area to the living room with an excellent wood stove. To this you add two bedrooms & two bathrooms, & you have the ideal set up for two couples or a family to enjoy! The owners have provided good quality throughout, from everything in the kitchen cupboards to the beds & linens - super comfy! Location is great, just walk across the street to the beach, and while some may think several blocks to town is a bit far, it was great for us! This is a super value & we will look forward to returning. The only thing one might miss is Wi-Fi, there is no internet access.

There's not alot of beach view unless you sit up in the loft but this house is very nice. It's just a skip across the street to the beach. Very comfortable home and the outside fire pit is great. This is my new beach vacation rental, been twice this year and looking forward to going again next year! Thanks for sharing your "dog friendly" home with my family.

We couldn't get the ductless heater/AC to give us any heat. SVR tried to rectify the problem but it was never solved. They gave us free firewood which we appreciated. Also, the fact that the outlet in the 2nd bathroom didn't work, made it impossible to use any electrical bathroom appliances. But we did appreciate SVR's attempts to deal with these problems.

The comfortable furniture & linens are all high quality, and in soothing oceanic shades of blue & brown. The showers were very nice! Kitchen has nice dishes & appliances, including a crockpot to cook while you're out on the beach. The wood stove really heats the living area quickly. Loved the big windows & panoramic view from the cozy loft! Also loved the room darkening drapes in the morning. Neighborhood is extremely quiet with no traffic. Beach access couldn't be easier, and a dog waste bin is at the entrance, so we never had to put it in our own garbage can. Plants in back yard serve as a natural fence on 3 sides (but dogs can still escape to the front). Overall it was a fantastic place to stay!
Only cons: There's no way to use the DVD/VCR player on the big living room TV, so you have to watch those in the bedroom. The kitchen wiring is poor - can't run any small appliance at the same time as the microwave w/o tripping a breaker. There are no specialty pans (pizza, griddle, etc) so bring your own; also it needs more microwave cookware. Kitchen cabinets need a deep cleaning from cooking/food buildup. Beach views are minimal, so this is not the house for stormwatching. It's a long hike to town with no sidewalk, but we were okay with that. None of these are deal-breakers. We would definitely choose this house again. Thank you to the owners for allowing dogs! -

The home was well stocked in kitchen and bathrooms everything you would need to feel at home. Clean, comfortable and relaxing, easy bike rides to town and park. The walk to the Beach is not as easy for people with leg issues, but the cleanest BEACH I have ever been on ......no drift wood, no shells, no agates, a bit disapointing but thats just my view...others may love it that way. The local people are extremely friendly and helpful, very nice place to visit........the views are beyond words.

We loved our time at the "8 Steps Inn". The only concern was that the pull out bed in the loft was very uncomfortable and could not sleep two people.

The house doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior is very nice. The beach is easily accessible, but don't expect to see the ocean from the house.

This home has a great ocean view from the loft as well as from the large picture window in the living room. You also have a small view from the dining room. You are located across the street from the ocean and while you may not have a complete unobstructed view, you definitely have beautiful views of the ocean.

This is a very cute house in a great location, not exactly 8 steps to the beach but quite close and also easily walkable to town, golf, playground. It is really a two bedroom, as the loft is roasting hot and has a quite small fold out sofa that barely fits when open. All the same, we would certainly stay here again EXCEPT that the house appears to be home to a large dog, whose fur is embedded in the furniture, bedding, carpet etc. There is even a very large dog bed in the closet right alongside the bed. My mildly allergic family was miserable whenever we were in the house and had a hard time sleeping. Would be a very nice house for a family visit as long as dogs are part of the family!

We were very thrilled with the location, layout, and most amenties provided by this property. There is only one reason we can't give the rental 5 stars across the board...mice. We noticed droppings on a towel that we were using to air dry some pots and larger bowls from the previous evening's use (so we knew they were left during our stay). When I looked in the undersink cabinet, we found additional evidence. If this is taken care of, we would recommend this property.

We spent a birthday weekend here at 8 STEPS INN. The house is comfortable and generally clean. The company was great and we all had a grand time in Manzanita and the surrounding area. We got some beach time each day between rain storms and got out to explore a few near by towns as well. There are a couple GREAT antique stores in Wheeler that we spent the better half of a day in.
Most everything in the house worked except there are some plumbing issues that have needed attention for a while. The trap under the kitchen sink started leaking then came apart in the middle of cooking dinner and made for a big mess. We managed to get it back together but had to keep a bowl under it for the rest of the weekend. The bathroom sink off the living room did not want to drain and the fan in that bathroom got boarded over during a poorly done bathroom "update." It still runs but doesn't do anything and seemed like an electrical hazard so we didn't use it.
All in all, we got what we were looking for from this house. A clean, funky little place on a quite street, close to the beach and town that was available semi last minute.Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals - 03/05/2012

We had a great stay at 8 Steps Inn. The home had comfortable furniture, nice fire place, nice view from the loft, and plenty of room to cook. The kitchen had everything we needed except a baking dish. The house was very dog friendly, yet clean and no signs of previous dogs. Across the street from the beach and short walk to town. Great place for a couple, two couples, or small family. We would come back to 8 Steps Inn. We also love SSVR they have always been professional and responsive to any needs/questions.

My husband and I lucked out with a sunny January mid-week getaway to this cozy house in Manzanita. It was clean and well maintained with wood stove (wood not provided, big screen TV (no instructions on how to use it) and all kitchen utensils/appliances we could need. Very dog friendly with doggie door and a luxurious dog bed (not fenced yard). The ocean view is between the other houses across the street mostly from the small upper loft, but beach access is 1 minute away.
Great place for 1-2 couples or small family. -

We rent homes at least twice a year on the Oregon Coast, almost always in Manzanita. We rarely rent the same place twice because there is so much out there. This place is great. The price is right, the house is beautiful, the view lovely. So comfortable, great books and movies, clean. We will be back.

We've stayed in a number of the Manzanita houses that Sunset manages. This one exceeded the others - especially in terms of beach access and overall value - great price, location, and size.
House would be great for two couples, or a family with 1-2 kids. Kitchen and Dining Room are huge - Ample living space; with two nice sized bathrooms. Plus a loft to read and/or watch the waves roll in (looks over a couple of houses).
Great place - this is one we'll attempt to use again! -

Our experience was good BUT a bit of false advertising as reservations told us the house was ON the beach. It's hard to really say as it rained all but one day of our stay. The outside could be cleaned up; stones swept and back weeded. Also, lots of trash was left behind the shed and a mess due to animals. Cozy, delightful house and would rent again. Master bed could really be improved. You must spray for spiders and bugs and vacuum/dust better.

We stayed at 8 Steps and truly enjoyed the entire experience. The house is well kept and the kitchen is stocked better than most I've seen in vacation was nice and we lacked nothing. The grill is NOT gas, that was a surprise as it was advertised as such. We just had to run get charcoal which was an easy solution. The home was comfortable, clean and super close to the beach. If you are planning on guests staying in the loft on the pull out it's very small and really only sleeps one comfortably. Two kids (older) would fit as well. All the details were wonderful and the home was super comfy. There is a lot of thought and consideration into making sure you feel right at home. We will certainly return! P.S. The dog friendliness was a super huge bonus :)

We had a wonderful visit in beautiful home with perfect beach access. Loft area great for a sitting area but not ideal for sleeping. Note that contrary to description the grill is not gas and the indoor stove is wood, not gas.
