The Dalles, Oregon, United StatesCozy, Comfy and Peaceful Stay

We had a very restful and beautiful stay. We were just a short distance from the ocean and shopping. The weather was beautiful.

Our extended family of 8 spent 5 days at Spinnaker and we found it very comfortable for the group. We had a wonderful family vacation and would certainly rent it another time.

Vancouver, WA, United StatesA Nice Location - Hard Beds
Left on 01/14/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The Spinnaker was a nice cabin with good interior amenities for the price/size, and in a good location in relation to Manzanita and the beach. With three of us staying together, the only two complaints I heard were that one of the queen beds was hard and the fan in the back bathroom shook the walls like crazy. The wood interior is lovely, as is the lighting.

This was a very basic rental, a bit rough around the edges. Seems like they are in the middle of upgrading the home. Kitchen lacked some basic items such as measuring spoons and the plates were well used, doesn't bother me that they are not matching. Appliances were all new, living area and fireplace were cozy, plenty of room for 10 people. In need of some upgrading.

Portland, OR, United StatesGreat location for this house
Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My family has rented this house a number of times. The layout with 4 bedrooms and two baths works very well for us. There have been some improvements this year--really appreciated the new, covered front porch, especially since it was raining so hard when we arrived. The location of the house is perfect for us---easy walk to both the beach and to town.
One negative, which I mentioned on the feedback form I left at the house, was that it was so cold when we arrived, that we had to wear our coats in the house, and to bed that night. It took a good 12 hours for the house to warm up. It would be awesome customer service if, during the winter months, someone from the rental office could go by the house and turn on the heat prior to the time when guests arrive. The extreme cold made our first evening pretty unpleasant, and it's an easy fix. Guests shouldn't have to wear heavy jackets to bed.Response from Sunset Vacation Rentals - 11/27/2012

We are so sorry for the inconvienence! It is our policy to turn on the heat as well as the porch light and an interior light durning the winter season. I apologize it wasn't done for your stay.

We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach and into town. The living room/kitchen area was nice. However, the bed was terrible. We both woke with aching backs and restless nights sleep. There was a bug problem. Large flying ants, carpenter ants maybe, that made using the kitchen and relaxing in the living room a bit uneasy. The freezer was leaking water onto the floor in the kitchen, not a big deal. We did call Sunset Vaca Rentals and let Betty know about these problems. While we were able to enjoy ourselves for the most part, I don't think we will return or recommend this house to a friend.

Left on 05/25/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Perfect cozy house to relax with a friend & our dogs. It is deceptively large, with 4 BRs & 2 baths. Could hold a large group easily, although there is only one shower. Super comfortable seating options in the living room.
Love all the new appliances & large TV. My favorite feature is the outdoor hot/cold water faucets to rinse off people & dogs! There's also a mud room to towel off and store coolers, etc.
Easy walk to beach & town. Only downsides are no driveway & no view. If these don't matter, you will LOVE this house. We'll be requesting it again. Thank you owners for allowing dogs! -

We loved this vacation rental! This was our third stay in Manzanita over the years at a rental house (versus a hotel) and this one was perfect for our family. It is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to town and only one block to the beach. It is well taken care of, updated, and even has WiFi. What more could you ask for?

All in all, a great house. It was clean and kitchen is well equipped. We were there in winter and didn't get to take advantage of the yard much by hanging outside, but in the summer, that would be a nice additional benefit. Only complaint is that the house is cold. It uses baseboard heat and our bedroom, which was in an add-on added to the rear of the home, never got very warm. The same was true for our bathroom (also in the add-on). That said, we enjoyed our stay and I'd recommend this as an affordable option for one or two couples, particularly if you're bringing pets.
