The temperate Florida Keys provide an atmosphere all their own, with idyllic tropical temperatures, clear, shallow waters and white sandy beaches. Step onto its shores and wrap yourself in its serenity. Steeped in tradition and history, The Keys have provided a rejuvenating retreat for the likes of Ernest Hemingway, who penned his infamous novel A Farewell to Arms while living on the islands, and Tennessee Williams, who regularly visited and eventually purchased a home on its shores.
Marathon, coined the Heart of the Florida Keys, is located at the center of the island chain and connected to the southern islands by the famous Seven Mile Bridge, the longest fragmented bridge in the world built in 1985 adjacent to its original counterpart. The bridge, offering a scenic view of the Atlantic ocean’s sparkling waters, hosts its annual Seven Mile Bridge Run and has been featured in several movies including True Lies, 2 Fast 2 Furious, License To Kill and Up Close and Personal. Anglers are drawn to its “longest fishing pier in the worldâ€Â, where they can catch dolphin fish, yellowtail and barracuda.
With incredibly mild seasons, the Keys rise and fall just 12 to 20 degrees year-round. Residents and visitors enjoy average 70 degree Januarys and 80 to 90-degree summer months. Warm tropical showers and thunderstorms roll through the shores between May and October, creating an extraordinarily moody, romantic and dramatic ambiance.
Key West’s cobalt-colored waters and coral reefs are a haven for scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking and boating. Sport fishermen flock to its waters, with 10 percent of the world’s salt fish records set just off the shores. Visit the Adelaide Baker historic shipwreck, Coffin’s Patch, Telta Shoals and the famous Thunderbolt wreck dive site. Swim with dolphins or indulge in local Eco Tours. Arts abound at the nearby Tennessee Williams Theater, while The Key West Literary Seminar draws hundreds of new and well-known creative writers each January. The Key West Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters Museum provides an intimate view of the historic 1847 lighthouse.

Booking this piece of paradise in Marathon,,,is highly recommended! The owners Carolyn and Terry are the best! W e celebrated my Mom's 90 th birthday in the sunrise getaway! This home is truly a diamond in the rough. the pictures do not do it justice! As you enter the gated property you are surrounded by the most beautiful landscaping from coconut palms to exotic fruits trees...its almost like you have your own private island! We were greeted upon our arrival by Connie tucker the real estate manager,just like the owners she is the best!At my request,she had Birthday flowers delivered for Mom...that was the icing on top of the cake! The home is very lavishly decorated,no detail was spared.The beds were outrageous,never had a better night of sleep!The kitchen is very well stocked,the bathrooms sparkle with luxury...bath towels and linens are all 5 star! Can it get Better..yes wake up to a spectacular sunrise in the spa by the pool!You will not be disappointed by staying here!

We would just like to say that from beginning to end our experience in dealing with Carolyn about her beautiful villa Sunrise Getaway House in Marathon Florida Keys has been exceptional and certainly made it the best holiday, not only because of the attention to detail in her organisation of booking/villa details/instructions/information etc. but of course the villa is absolutely beautiful and very very comfortable, and homely. The views from the villa are outstanding and we loved waking to the sound of the Pelicans fishing in the sea outside the house. We will certainly be booking another holiday at the villa and have already passed details on to friends.
I would imagine that anyone who stays at this villa will most certainly go back again and would not even consider looking anywhere else. -

My wife and I would highly recommend The Sunrise Getaway House in Marathon. The accomodations were everything we wanted in our trip and more. The location was excellant and the view fantastic! We also found the cooperation of the owners to be exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return again in the near future.
