Google may still show it as an empty lot but there is a new house their now.
2 kayaks have just been added to the property for exploring the islands.

My husband, a couple from Germany and I rented the house for 2 weeks in april. We fell in love with the beautiful natural setting.The view from the balcony's were priceless.We spent many hours on the shady covered balcony and enjoyed the ocean breeze.
The house was tastefully decorated.The kitchen was very well equipped. Plenty towels,linens and blankets.
Behind house is a canal and a dock. It was wonderful to fish for a while and we caught plenty. We were lucky and saw Manatees swimming right by us.
Sombrero Beach area was perfect for us. State Parks close by, Dolphin Research Center and the Turtle Hospital is a must see. A drive to Key West is about one hour away and there is so much to see and do.
After two weeks it was very hard to leave, we even extended our stay for two more days. We hope to go back one day.
I want to thank Bill the Owner. He was so nice and every thing was as promised.

This is a new house (2012) right on a short, ocean-exiting canal adjacent to Sombrero Beach with nice views from the top-floor bedrooms and deck of the atlantic. Mangrove trees between the house and canal give privacy from the few houses across the canal. The lower deck is shaded and large with big dining table and lounge chairs. The kitchen is equipped with every sort of appliance and the furnishings and decor are comfortable and "beachy" pleasant. Kayaks (2) are provided. Wireless service is strong. Its about an 8 minute walk to the beach, or, use the bike trail that runs the length of Sombrero Beach Road. Marathon's shopping and wonderful restaurants are nearby. Its a great vacation location.

What a nice place! It is spacious, clean, and comfortable in a perfect location. We ate breakfast on the shaded porch located off of the living area. The second floor bedrooms have their own living area and a sunny deck with a beautiful view of the ocean. We walked less than a half mile along the bike trail to the best beach in the keys, Sombrero Beach complete with grills . A Publix food store, K-mart, and numerous restaurants are located about a mile in the other direction. We used the kayaks that the owner provided to explore the canals, coves and local atlantic. We also went snorkeling, fishing and rode rented bikes on the old 7 mile bridge. Key West is about an hour's drive. We would return in a heartbeat!
