My husband and I stayed in the Garden Cottage at Casa Madden for nine nights. We found it very well equiped and tastefully decorated. The garden is beautifully maintained and tranquil - just what we needed for a complete rest. There is a lovely view from the balcony over the sand dunes to the sea. Jane is most welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed meeting her dad, Tony. The time passed all too quickly.

My girlfriend and I stayed here during Semana Santa, and even after reading all of the excellent reviews, both the rental house and Jane as a host far exceeded our expectations. The rental house is clean and stylish, like something you'd see in a country living magazine, and Jane was very informative, giving us some great tips for nearby restaurants and facilities. On most days, we spent half our time at the beach (just a few minutes away), and the other half lounging in the yard; just reading while enjoying the warm sun and peaceful ambiance. We will surely return!

Jane and I have just returned from a week at Casa Madden and we loved it. We adopted the smaller dog called frankie and beau called round occasionally, especially when I was handing out chirozo treats. :-) Jane kindly made us some homemade marmalade which is the best I have ever tasted. We often caught the bus into Marbella which cost €1 and runs every half hour. From Marbella we caught another bus to Peurto Banus which cost €1. It takes about 20 mins to Marbella and about another 15 mins to Banus. If you want to stay closer to home, just walk about ten mins to the port of Cabopino. There's not many bars and restaurants, but you only need one...Julie's, it's very nice with friendly staff.

My husband and I stayed for 5 days at Garden Cottage Casa Madden. The cottage has all you need for an extended stay and is very comfortable. There's just a short walk to the beach and all other amenities(supermarkets, restaurants, bars) are close by too. Good location for exploring to the East or West. The owner Jane knows the region well and can give you plenty of local tips.

We just want to say Thanks so much Jane and Cappy for making our time in Spain memorable.
We didn't stay long but I couldn't think of a nicer way to end our holiday. My cousin and I (and hubbies of course) meet up somewhere in this big ole world every 3 to 4 years. This year we chose Spain and it was wonderful. The Garden Cottage at Casa Madden was bright, spacious, clean and had everything you need, including a roof top terrace, a private little garden, chirping birds & parrots and even a couple friendly doggies Beau and Frankie. I don't think any of us will ever forget walks from the cottage to the sea, so much to see. One of my favourite days in Spain was our last day, we just kicked back in the garden for a while, walked along the dunes to the beach, lazed on the sand, haggled with the walking beach merchants and ended up having Sangria and tappas at andy's Beach Bar before heading back to cottage to shower and pack. We stayed in the Garden Cottage 2 - 5 November 2012. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great (lots & lots of rain) so we did spend a lot of within the cottage.
Finding the house is not difficult (although I made it seem so, so I would recommend following Jane's instructions on the website). Once we arrived Jane made us feel very welcome, gave us the lay of the land and pointed out good places to visit.
The accommodation was comfortable and amble for our needs - on the little sun that we got we used the gardens loungers and conservatory.
Jane was always on hand of required (although we never needed to call on her or Derek) and as we were leaving she commented that its very unusual that she doesnt see her guests (and you know what - it felt that we missed out on her great hospitality). But that is what you can choose from Jane will be there if you need her for company and give you your space should you prefer that.
There were plenty of little bars and restaurants within walking for us to choose from - especially at the port area. Also there was andys beach is less than 10 minutes walk away - with some interesting goings on in the sand dunes :lol: so keep an open mind.
All in all, the accommodation was as described and nothing to fault, the only down side as mentioned previously was the weather this made the room feel damp on occasion but there was heating options available.

What can we say apart from wonderful,fantastic peaceful, charming,relaxing,paradise itself and so much much more.
This so describes Casa Madden a special part of andulusia that once there you never want to leave.
Its our second time to Casa in two years and it was just as brilliant this year as last.
Jane & Derek are exceptional hosts and such lovely people and they made our stay just perfect.
Boo & Frankie (the four footers) are lovely too and we couldnt wait to see them every evening whilst sitting in the wonderful garden that Jane & Derek make so special.
The beach is so unspoilt and its one of the best beaches we have ever been too and the fact its only a 5 minute walk from Casa Madden makes it even better.
We just want to say thank you to Jane & Derek you have made our last two holidays very special and memorable for us and we will definately be returning.
Casa Madden is a special place (Paradise) and anyone who wants their perfect holiday Casa Madden could definately be the place for you.

My husband and I tucked a week in Spain's Costa del Sol in between a week in Paris and Ireland. The time in Spain by far was my favorite.
The cottage was beautiful, comfortable, an oasis of relaxation, due to wonderful host, friendly pets and very comfortable bed. Balanced outdoor and indoor space, lush landscaping (that Jane meticulously maintains)and close to anything you would need.
The beach area was private and beautiful, the public beach and lively marina only a short walk away. We had every thing we needed for total relaxation. Really appreciated the large bathroom, walk in shower.
We were able to do day trips to Granada and Ronda (must sees), Mijas (small mountain village) and even Marbella. Recommend Rick Steves book on Southern Spain to plan trips and seek out the best eateries.
Jane and Derek were perfect hosts, considerate, friendly but not intrusive. We have already mentioned Casa Madden to several friends. It was a wonderful week.
Especially enjoyed Bo and Frankie.

Traveling to Spain is always a pleasure but the experience at Casa Madden made it even more so. Jane and Derick welcome you on arrival and this is the start of a great stay. The location of the property and its surroundings gives you no choice but to sit back and wind down. Jane was the perfect hostess and nothing was too much trouble, she made sure that we had all the information of the area which made getting about a lot easier. The accommodation had everything that was needed and was more than comfortable. I now know where we will be staying next year on our return to Spain.

This is a lovely quiet spot on a busy stretch of coastline. We had a very relaxing 10 days walking the beaches and then returning to the delightful Garden Cottage to sit in the Conservatory or on the patio in the February sunshine. For the energetic it is possible to walk along the beach to Marbella (tides permitting). The Garden Cottage bed is very comfortable and we slept really well here. Jane was a very welcoming host and I would recommend Casa Madden.

It all started with the scenic drive from Marbello to Casa Madden. The warm, blue waters of the Mediteranian on one side and the green rolling hills of the Costa del Sol on the other. We were greeted by Derek and Jane with a welcome lick from the family mascott, Frankie the dog.
The Garden cottage was out of a fairy tail book with birds, lazy cats and friskie puppies to wake up to every day.
We enjoyed taking Frankie and the puppies on long walks on the pristine, sandy beaches just outside the rear door of the Casa. No visit to Casa Madden is complete until you visit the quaint but vibrant beach restaurants, set within a short waking distance each way on the beach. Tapas, cocktails, the great company of Derek and Jane listening to all their fabulous tales and stories. All that with the backdrop of the sun setting over the Mediteranian. There is no other place on earth like it.
The Casa Madden is so central, we were able to explore andalucia and Morocco with ease. We highly recommend the Casa Madden experience and the exceptional hospitality of Jane and Derek.

Wow what a special holiday. The place was amazing so peaceful, relaxing and a little piece of paradise. Jane and Derek were wonderful hosts and could not have done more for us. If it wasn't for the warmest welcome ever, their expertise and knowledge our holiday would not have been the same. They were on hand when needed but never intrusive.
We would also recommend most definately hirng a car and again through Jane by using her homeowners club code with Helli Hollis we got the best deal from them and they were very professional and we have nothing but praise for their service.
The Garden Cottage was such a home from home. The views were superb and the roof terrace is so lovely for a quiet chilled out afternoon in the sun.
Once again thank you Jane & Derek for a very special holiday. Ps Say hello to Frankie, Bo & Bodie we miss them.
Pps We have been on holiday many times but have never felt the need to write a review but this holiday was so special we have written our first.

We went to Marbella, Spain, because it is just a few hours from Portugal. This is a very good place to have vacations.
Miss Jane Gould is a wonderful person, with huge hospitality skills and so much helpful! This was the best vacations in my whole life and I'm glad to say: Miss Jane Gould helped me with all doubts that I had.

I don’t know where to start! We had the most amazing time at the Garden Cottage!
The accommodation is just beautiful! The garden cottage was more than a home from home: A great big bed, lovely decorated sunroom, private mature garden, free wifi , big comfy towels and a fantastic patio. We hardly used the sun terrace with lovely views over the sea, as we felt so comfortable just sitting on our little patio area.
Jane is the perfect host: giving tips and advice on how to treat sunburns (with malt vinegar!), where to go sightseeing and just having a quick chat before she goes walking with her dogs.
The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and you have a choice between the busy family orientated ‘Andy’s beach’ and the nudist beach at ‘Las Dunas’. Both offer sun lounges and great little bars with local food and drinks. We preferred the very quiet nudist beach with tranquil views over the sea.

Thanks Jane and Capt D, and friendly canines Bo and Frankie! We had a very comfortable stay in the Garden Cottage with our 17 yr old son on the rollaway bed in the sunroom. Well appointed, nice luxurious towels, fully equipped kitchenette and strong wifi (important for the teens) Great base for getting around Marbella and Malaga, and easy access inland to Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla. Jane is a great host and responsive to all our needs. Highly recommended!!

This was our favourite stay during a months vacation in Spain. The accommodation was top notch and Jane is an absolute gem. We so thoroughly enjoyed every minute and the extra touches supplied by Jane although not required made our stay perfect. The cottage was very clean, exceptionally comfortable and well outfitted for any length of stay. Being 12k in 2 directions from major centers, close to very good dining, next to a wonderful beach that caters to naturist and textile alike(stay west of the beach cafe for the best location) and within easy reach of most of what the Costa del Sol and southern Spain has to offer, you could not ask for a better place to stay. Take our advice and book your stay with Jane at Casa Madden either in the cottage or the apartment, you will not be disappointed.

I lived in the Garden Cottage at Casa Madden from December 2010 until May 2011. I was really lovely, so relaxing and welcoming to come home to. The resident hosts Jane and Derek are charming and make great neighbours. I found the local area convenient and enjoyable. There is plenty of safe on street parking. The Garden Cottage is south facing and a short walk to the beach. The garden is beautifull. Casa Madden is special, there is no other place like it - a little paradise.

A very nice spot. We stayed in the Patio Room. It was very clean, and comfortable and included a small kitchen with microwave, bar fridge and hot plate that was well suited for making breakfasts and lunches.
The Patio Room is a part of a private home in a well kept residential area. The area features lots of trees, including a fragrant orange tree that was our favourite. The bathroom is very nice and recently tiled. The shower stall is large and hot water abundant. The only small quibble we had was the size of the room that contained the toilet. The toilet is in a separate room just off the rest of the bathroom but the room is quite small and the door is mounted on the wrong side making it difficult to shut.
Casa Madden backs onto the Dunes of artola, an ecologically unique area, and beyond that the beach. There are restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance.
The owner, Jane, was very accommodating. Our flight was late and she stayed up past 1 am to greet us as we tumbled in the door, which we greatly appreciated.
My wife and I wanted something different from the usual hotel-based vacation. We were on a week-long golf holiday and wanted to be able to have breakfast early and make lunches. Casa Madden is well situated in the heart of the Costa del Golf and our longest commute was 15 minutes.
I definitely recommend Casa Maddena and we are looking forward to returning.

Myself and my wife needed a get away after a hectic summer. We had a short city break followed by a stay at Casa Madden with Jane and her 4 legged friends.
From the the initial booking to the (optional) airport pickup, through to the warm welcome and relaxing stay, including massage for my wife by Jane, we couldn't fault any part of our stay. Clean, warm, friendly and charming. We would recommend a stay with Miss Jane to anyone.
They are ideally located for a quiet beach getaway(100 meters to the sea) but close enough to towns and cities with transport links within walking distance, should you fancy a night out.
Beach's shops, restaurants all near by...Casa Madden makes for a great escape from reality and will return you relaxed. -

Casa Madden is a wonderful place for an overnight stay or weeks in Spain. Jane is the perfect hostess, being sure you arrive safely and greeting you with a tour of the beautiful and spacious and graciously accommodated apartment. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Marbella, if you want to get a true sense of the community and its environs.
U.S. folks will be delighted with a stay here. You'll feel taken care of from the emails when you reserve, right through the careful directions to the Casa to a wonderful relaxing view of the Mediterranian. If you're wondering where to stay that is not the "resort", this is the place!!

My husband and I were taken care of like we were dear relatives. No fuss but attentive and caring. We were collected at the airport like family, not clients and it was uphill from there.
The facilities were perfectly appointed, again, no fuss but comfortable and spotless. The location is right by the dunes and in a residential area, so extremely quiet which is what we were after. Restaurants were a good walk away, few choices but delicious. We were so comfortable and pleasantly surprised as the premises are much better than they appear in photographs. The beach on the other side of the dunes is lovely white sand and clear water, all very clean. We are planning our next visit ! -

The garden cottage is beautiful and well equipped with fabulous roof terrace looking out to the dunes and the sea. Very peaceful and lots of lovely birdsong in the garden. Jane was a wonderful host, who collected us and delivered us back to the airport, gave lots of local recommendations for eating out. Her gang of friendly four legged friends also provided lots of entertainment! A short walk through the dunes to the beach and a small marina nearby. A very cheap bus ride into Marbella (13KM) away. We would highly recommend it for a peaceful break away, and will definitely return.

We have stayed at Casa Madden on two previous occasions and would totally recommend this holiday apartment to anyone looking for a relaxing get away. The house is set in beautiful gardens right on the edge of Cabopino Nature reserve, a short walk of 5 mins through trees and dunes will take you to an unspoilt beach, further along is the Port of Cabopino with many bars and restaurants, Jane [the owner] is a great host and always on hand to offer advice help and as an added bonus Jane is a fully trained masseuse and offers an aroma based massage, which I would highly recommend. The massage adds to the over all feeling of relaxation, which Casa Madden offers from all angles.
The accommodation is spotless, extremely comfortable and the mature gardens well cared for. We are already looking for a gap in our calendar to visit for a third time!
