Description from the owner

Casa Kalinca is a private house with it's own pool - IT IS NOT AN APARTMENT OR IN A APARTMENT COMPLEX.
Overlooked by the impressive Mount Concha, 'Casa Kalinca' is a charming retreat, located close to the cosmopolitan Mediterranean town of Marbella. This idyllic rustic villa is situated in 'La Virginia', a village of creative artists, in whose sun-drenched squares you may find classy but informal restaurants, serving delicious food. This haven of private houses has a very sophisticated although natural feel to it; cobbled alleyways, houses and gardens bursting with colorful Bougainvillea and scented Jasmin...Read more

We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Kalinca for the first time and already want to go again. it is everything it advertises. Relaxed and private in a wonderful quiet village area on the edge of Marbella and within easy walking distance, Sue is a wonderful host and always available with help and advice. This holiday was a special wedding anniversary for us and we could not have wished for better.
We have been to marbella before so headed straight for the old town. If you want traditional food at reasonable prices find the tapas bars there you will soon recognise the best.
Sue thanks for your welcome and help during our visit. We will be back

London, UKPicturesque secluded villa in ideal location
Left on 06/21/2011 for a stay in June 2011
My husband and I spent a lovely week at Casa Kalinca. We particularly enjoyed the fact that the pool area is very private indeed and in a lovely walled garden setting. The villa itself is traditional in style and very well equipped. It is also extremely spacious for a one bedroom villa. The location is ideal being close to the centre of Marbella and Puerto Banus as well as a comfortable drive to picturesque villages in the hills such as Mijas.
We were greeted by Susie who is a lovely lady and extremely welcoming. Susie was determined that we should enjoy our stay and made herself available if we needed.
We look forward to our next visit! -

Response from mini griffin - 06/08/2011

Hola Sonia
We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay at Kalinca we have since hired a new cleaner and have bought a new bed and bbq. It is such a shame you did not let us know about all these issues we would of loved to have been able to fix them as soon as possible. It is very unusual for our guest to have a bad time in Kalinca you are our first complaint and I feel terrible that you did not get the best out of it. Some things are out of our control like weather and outside light but the things that are we make sure are working from now on. Thanks to you we have set up a cleaning inspection before we just trusted the cleaner ;)
Kind regards,
Mini -

LymmFantastic property in an idyllic location

We stayed at Casa Kalinca over the new years period and we had such a great time we have been back several times. La Virginia is a beautiful and peaceful residential area full of unique houses and windy cobbled streets. Its a hidden gem that you wouldnt normally know existed.
The open plan house was very spacious for a couple or small family and provides a very relaxing and safe environment for children. In the afternoons we would often sit by the pool in the secured private gardens and in the evening would enjoy sitting by a roaring log fire watching many of the dvds provided by the owners. It is located about 10 miutes walk outside of Marbella town which means everything local is accesible on foot. A very enjoyable and relaxing stay, I couldnt recommend it more. -

I highly recommend this house for a honeymooning couple or anyone who needs time away from ordinary life in order to relax with their significant other, or even alone! It is a cosy, beautiful house with a pool and view that leave you feeling rested, protected and make you want to return as often as you can. The service is excellent, warm and friendly. The village it is located in special and unique, you won't find anywhere else like it.

We enjoyed this little haven very much. We could walk down to the town/beach and taxi home if we wanted but mostly we stocked up at the great supermarket (NB its actually inside a dept (furniture) store so dont miss it at the bottom of the hill) and just lazed or read or swam the day away beside the pool. The old town is also worth the few Euros for a taxi journey home, esp to watch the "promenaders" in the evening. Susi was v attentive and helpful but non intrusive and the sunny garden and complete privacy was heaven.
Susi arranged a local taxi to and from airport and welcomed us personally even though it was a v late arrival. We woke to a little bit of paradise. Early september was perfect weather - no need for air conditioning, just leave the bedroom window open and enjoy!

Aberdeen scotlandFabulous secluded house with pool and garden in Marbella, perfec

Casa Kalinka is set in the most beautiful development within walking distance of Marbella. This charming, rustic villa, is surrounded by a beautiful mature garden and so secluded its perfect for a quiet romatic getaway. We received a lovely warm welcome from owner Susie, and the villa is so well equipped. There are wonderful restaurants within the development, but you really are just a walk away from Marbella Old Town, although perhaps a taxi home for 6 Euros as it is uphill all the way!! It is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful region of Spain, but to be quite honest, it was so perfect, we didn't want to leave for too long!!! One visited, never forgotten. Wish i was there now...

Tucked away in a very quaint quiet area within a couple of miles of Marbella centre. This is a very unusual split level charming house with a fabulous secluded garden and pool. My husband and I stayed in July had a very chilled out week here just lazing around the pool. Only two minus points, the pool furniture is a bit dated and there is no a.C. which in the middle of July would have been good.
A car is almost essential here as there is a very steep walk back up from Marbella and very few amenities within walking distance. There are two restaurants in La Virginia but they are expensive, we paid E130 for dinner for two. If you want to eat out every night (which we do) it means taking the car or a taxi down into Marbella.
Dont let these comments put you off this is a great little romantic hide away perfect for a couple. -

What can I say, Villa Kalinca is magical. Private, secluded, intimate and charming. Enter through what looks like the gate to a mediaeval monastery into a beautiful garden with the pool shimmering in the sun. Completely un-overlooked, one can swim or sunbathe au naturel (should the mood take you). The covered terrace by the pool is perfect for sitting in the shade whilst still being outside in the warmth. The villa itself is fully equiped with everything you could possibly need. It would take too long to list all the amenities but, TV, DVD (with stack of films), books, boardgames, etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with the essentials. No two rooms are on the same level, with little steps and stairs connecting everything, which only adds to the charm. Marbella town is about a 15 minute walk away, downhill. Not sure how long to get back uphill, but only 7 euros by cab - and well worth it. There is a 24 Hr supermarket at the bottom of the hill for essential supplies, ie gin, tonic, ice, oh, and food of course. In La Virginie itself there are two restuarants; only one was open whilst we were there, La Tienda - absolutely wonderful food and service - not cheap but worth every penny. There is also a small bar / diner just 5 minutes away uphill run by two English guys - great for pre-dinner drinks.
All in all its a fantastic place to stay, especially if you want a very relaxed lazy holiday in the andalusian sun.Response from mini griffin - 10/15/2010
