Description from the owner
The Straw House is a huge straw bale farmhouse on a rural property. With plenty of room for large families, a well equipped kitchen, as well as a tranquil setting, far from the madding crowd.
The house is very spacious, with rooms in every direction. All the bedrooms are large and have comfortable beds, and there is space for extra large groups if needed.
Whether you come as a couple or as three families on holiday together, The Straw House will fit your mood. Warm yourself with the wood stove in the winter, and stay cool in summer thanks to the wonderful insulating qualities of straw bale construction.

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We had two families with adult children and their partners as well as singles. It suited our purposes perfectly and we took our small dog. Which it is basic accommodation it is a true farmhouse style and was comfortable. The table tennis and pool table were very popular. We took a tether and a pet pen fir our dog and enclosed part of the verandah as I'm sure the sheep and kangaroos would have been too much of a temptation for her! The only thing we would have liked was an outdoor patio area where we could all congegrate. The cake and wine were a nice touch and the caretakers very helpful.

Had the most magical time in this wonderful house, got to show off the best of the region to the new son in law. Family loved the atmosphere of the place, and we got them all off there phones and electronic games for a while. Would highly recommend the Strawhouse this place has everything that you could want. Thanks Carolyn and Mark

I was overseeing a group of teenagers, girls and boys. The fact that there were 3 bathrooms made things a lot easier. Plenty of rooms and space for people to find their own space if they need to. Nice big kitchen and massive dining table suitable for having everyone dine together. Very peaceful surrounds and very helpful caretakers.

I spent my 60th Birthday with my family at the Straw House. We loved it, so cozy and quaint. The location was perfect, felt like we were in the middle of the bush. Would highly recommend staying there.

Our extended family ( 11 adults and 3 kids)stayed at the Straw House in January 2011 and found it to be the perfect house for all of us. We all had our own bedroom and having 3 bathrooms was a huge bonus! We loved the loft and enjoyed our family movie night up there. The Strawhouse was very well equipped with everything we needed and especially catered for small children with high chairs, cots, toys, safety gate and single beds. We also liked the book and dvd collection, the huge dining table and ping pong table. We look forward to staying again. Carolyn and Mark were excellent hosts and communication leading up to our stay was very positive and prompt.

We had a ball staying at the straw house. The caretakers were wonderful and we were greeted with a beautiful cake and bottle of wine which all of our guests enjoyed very much. The house was beautifully presented and we all had a wonderful holiday.

PerthMy favourite place :-)
Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Have now stayed at the Straw House about five times and have loved every visit. Perfect for a weekend relax if you like to be out of the hustle of town but only a short drive if you want to pop in. We have always struggled to find accommodation that allows dogs but now we need look no further! Perfect for large groups of friends or families. The owners are smashing! Catching up with them is always a pleasure. Beware the chocolate cake that's always in the kitchen... you'll be addicted!

Nedlands, Perth, WAThe perfect winter retreat for families with kids and dogs...
Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in July 2010
Have stayed here several times and this is the perfect winter retreat for several families wanting to stay together. Both dogs and children love it. Accommodation broken into several "wings" to give 3 families their own space, and several lounge areas to accommodate both adults and children. Filled with Dvds, books, board games, computer games and toys to keep all ages occupied and a great bit kitchen/dining area with fireplace perfect fo adult socialising. Reasonable drive to beach so a winter break when it is green and the creek is running and the fire can be lit is the cosiest and perfect time for break away from the city. Carolyn and Mark are the perfect hosts and make an awesome welcome cake to boot too!! Definitely recommend The Straw House.

Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This place is amazing :) the bedrooms have that real mexican villa / modern country feel about them, so much room for all the family. We loved all the walks in the bush and in the forest, and my young son loved feeding the donkeys, pig, peacocks and lots more down the path. You just cannot beat the feeling of this place, its magical. We celebrated my husbands 30th there with all the family and there was room to spare, cant say there was much cake or wine left that was nicely places on the dining table of arrival, the chocolate almond meal cake and wine were devine :) cant wait to go back.
