Great base from which to explore the region

Left on 04/30/2013 for a stay in April 2013

This was a great little cottage in a scenic location. Only 8 miles from Mariposa, which has all necessary amenities & shops. And only 50 mins. from Yosemite Valley. The cottage was very clean and cosy, and Lesli & Mike very welcoming owners. It was wonderfully quiet at night (but beware the nearby chook shed in the morning). We could roam over the farm & meet the animals. It has a cosy wood heater (wood supplied), full size gas stove & large fridge. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom small, but functional. WiFi internet access. Plenty of books, videos etc. It is reasonably close to the main house, but that was never a problem, privacy-wise.

Relaxing, back to nature experience... Like going to your aunts

Left on 04/29/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Our group of six traveling adults decided to take the adventure of staying at the Rauch Ranch for three days while touring Yosemite. What a fun time! The old house was like going back your aunts house in the country. Roster crowing at dawn, wild turkey, coyote and other wildlife are all within view. Ask for the directions around the ranch because it is truly a beautiful place. Lesli is a great host and makes you feels like family. Great conversation with the Rauch couple in the evening is a lesson in ranching, history and growing grapes. Our trips to Yosemite is a wonderful drive of 45 minutes thru God's beauty and handy work.
However, one day we spent the whole day in the Mariposa area and just sitting enjoying the ranch view. To the Rauch family... We say thank you it was a great experience.

Lesli was exceptionally helpful - even waiting up although we were delayed after our flight. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome. The ranch was amazing - it was our first stop in america ever - the first destination on our road trip and the best start! Waking up in the morning and sitting out in the Californian sun on the back porch looking out over acres of ranch land, with cattle under the trees was just the best! Just like a something out of a movie! If you would like to stay on a rustic, authentic, traditional family ranch then this is the place. Nearby Mariposa is a quaint traditional town and the drive to Yosemite, not far, was great. Yosemite is the most beautiful place- not to be missed. If we ever happen to be passing Rauch Ranch we would definitely be back!! Still dreaming about it!

I am so happy that we were turned onto Flip key cause we would have not found the Rauch's. We enjoyed the serenity of the mountains and farm life. The Rauch's were very pleasant and went completely above and beyond to accommodate us. Our son rode a horse and we shot clay pigeons which was so fun for us city slickers.
We already miss Lesli, Mike and Romeo...the best dog in the world next to ours :-)
It is a short, scenic route to Yosemite from here and you get so much more than those pricey hotels and lodges. Oakhurst is also close by.
The house was quaint and clean. It was perfect size for four grown ups and we could have easily fit 5 or 6 people.
I feel the photos don't quite depict how amazing this place really is.
We were pleasantly surprised and very happy.
The land is massive and we can't wait to return to have more time to explore it.

      Desi,

Thank you so much for the awesome review and sorry this took so long to get back to you. Some how Flipkey locked me out of my account so I couldn't contact you. The pictures were perfect and again hoping for perfect weather on your return stay.

Hope you are back to work and things are being blessed.

Leslie and her family made us feel at home. She makes us gave us a warm welcome and included my family in the activities of her working ranch. It was a real experience and we loved the beautiful scenery. The wine was exceptional, we truly enjoyed the evening on the porch and the relaxing atmosphere. I definately would recommend her sweet cottage for any travelers with a close proximity to Yosemite. Thank you, Leslie, Mike and Michael for the lovely weekend.

A lovely time on the ranch and amongst the grapes. The Rauch's welcomed us as if we were family, entertaining us with the tales of ranch and vine life while we enjoyed an evening under he stars, listening to the sounds of the country.
