Kruger Cottage is a charming thatch-roofed house in a unique area of the earth. The cottage is located in Marloth Park, a buffer zone nestled up to the south edge of the Kruger National Park, South Africa’s premier game reserve.

Located in Mpumalanga Province, Marloth Park is bordered by Kruger on the north, east and west sides, separated only by the Crocodile River and the Kruger boundary fence. It is considered a nature conservancy, no domestic animals allowed and operates its own private game reserve for guests to enjoy.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS

Kruger Cottage is a private, self-catering house that comfortably sleeps six to... eight guests. Linen are provided. An open floor plan and vaulted thatch-roof form a comfortable common area that connects to a large covered verandah, where a splash pool and braai outdoor barbeque awaits. This unique house started as a traditional rondavel circular house, which now constitutes the two smaller guest bedrooms and shared bathroom. Beautifully crafted additions form a fully functioning kitchen which shares a vaulted ceiling with the dining area and living room. The master bedroom has a private en-suite bathroom. Cooling tiled floors throughout lead you to the verandah and pool where you can listen to the sounds of the hippos grunting in the river, the hooting of the owls and other wildlife as you enjoy the evening from the comfort of Kruger Cottage.

A local shop provides the basic essentials and if you wish to eat at a local restaurant, there are two lodges from which to choose. Kruger Cottage offers competitive rates. Standard deposit, breakage fees, and linen laundering fees apply. The house is professionally cleaned once a week, but other arrangements may be made.

NATURE WATCHING OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND

Marloth Park is a tranquil, gated secure, but fence-less community that allows game animals to run free amongst the houses which are nestled in the natural vegetation.

The intriguing, life bearing crocodile river is a short 100 meter walk from Kruger Cottage, where an extensive walking path situated next to the Kruger southern boundary fence allows you an elevated view of all the wildlife that gathers at the water. Take a morning walk or drive with coffee cup in hand, bring your camera and binoculars and even a folding chair and be ready to see an amazing variety of birdlife, as well as an abundance of larger animals: hippos, wildebeest, crocodiles, warthog and perhaps even rhinos, elephants or lions.

From Kruger Cottage, you can venture into Kruger Park through one of two gates Malelane or Crocodile both gates an easy drive of approximately 35 km. Drive in using your own vehicle, or choose a locally guided tour option.

EXPLORE NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES

If you are looking for variety, Marloth Park is a great base from which to explore Swaziland and Mozambique. Its close proximity to these neighbouring countries, the Swaziland border is about 80 km away, and the Mozambique border even less, allows you to take easy day trips into Swaziland or to the beautiful, warm, unspoilt beaches of the Indian Ocean in Mozambique. Don’t forget to bring your swim suit and snorkel gear.

Marloth Park is located east of Nelspruit, between Hectorspruit and Komatipoort. Drive time from Johannesburg Airport is approximately four to five hours. Shuttle service is available from Johannesburg and Pretoria to Nelspruit. Car rental service is available in Nelspruit.Read more

Kruger Cottage is self-catering so please bring your own groceries. Linens are provided; please bring own towels. Kruger Cottage is professionally cleaned between visitor stays, and once a week during a stay.

Security deposit may be refundable, depending on any breakages, damages, or additional cleaning required.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellation 0 - 14 days before date of arrival, or no-show – visitor forfeits 100% of deposit paid.
Cancellation 15 - 28 days before date of arrival – visitor forfeits 75% of deposit paid or 25% of full quote value (whichever greater).
Cancellation 29+ days before date of arrival – visitor forfeits 50% of deposit paid or 25% of full quote value (whichever greater).
In the event of premature departure, we may charge for the full original booking.

  I, my wife, friends and family stayed at Kruger Cottage for 2 weeks. This was a lovely, clean and bright place with tile floors. The patio and BBQ area was great and we had wart hogs and zebras visit us. The location was wonderful for a morning tea or coffee walk along the Crocodile River fence line, plenty to birds to see along with a sleeping Rhino on the river bank, deer, hippo, and crocodiles. Kruger Cottage's location is fantastic: we were close to two entrance gates to the Kruger National Park and its position also made it very easy for us to visit Mozambique and Swaziland. Both were great adventures. Marloth Park was a pleasant place with a local shop just down the road to purchase food and supplies. Kruger Cottage had all the amenities for us to enjoy South africa's greatest park and neighboring countries with ease. We would love to go back.

  We had a wonderful weekend. It was so nice, and we really didn't want to come back to Jozi. We will visit soon.
  On our arrival we were welcomed by Zebra's and we started feeding them carrots, we didn't even get to the apples that we brought with. Warthogs and Kudu's were also visiting during the course of the afternoon. Friday morning all of us have a walk along the "border” - we had a nice long walk and saw a few animals. We went for a "late afternoon drive” with Koos and his wife the afternoon. We went to Kruger park on Saturday, was waiting in front of the gate at 4:30 as we were told by Koos that we need to be there early. Saw a lot of animals in the park and came home late. We didn't even touch the tv... or the book I took with me...

  A great South african Wildlife Experience

  For our group of 9, accommodation at Kruger Cottage was spacious and comfortable with ample cooking facilities including an outside barbeque area, (campfire style). around which we spent our evenings. It was special when one evening a group of passing zebra joined us. It took just a few minutes to the Kruger Park boundary fence, from where we saw crocodile, hippo and other animals at the river below. Bird watchers will appreciate the variety of birdlife. Kruger Cottage was a handy base for a highly successful visit to the Kruger National Park where saw the Big 5. We had a great time.
