What Past Guests Are Saying
Marrakech Coolest Riad
We have just come back from a 4 night stay in Dar najat. The staff and particularly the owner Olivier could not do enough for us. The hotel is beautiful and shows that a lot of effort went into the interior design and the design of each individual room. Every evening there was beautiful relaxing music and candles everywhere. It was hard to believe we were just a few minutes walk from the the place Jama l fnaa and the souks as it really was an oasis of calm. We ate there 2 of the 4 nights and the food was excellent.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone . The surroundings and the service were some of the best we have experienced anywhere. The staff and Olivier cannot do enough for his guests and after the madness of walking around the town it was great to know we could come back and be looked after!
We stayed in Dar najat for 4 nights and wow! What a great stay!
We were looking for a Riad in the Medina that was a little more understated than your typical Morrocan Riad, something close to the sights, something small and intimate, and something that offered great service.
We found all of those in Dar najat. Let's start with the Riad itself. We loved the design. Elegant yet understated. The terrace is a great place for breakfast and afternoon reading. . Our bedroom was very comfortable and adequately sized. The bed was fantastic, a good night's sleep everytime. A/C was cool and water pressure was strong. They offered breakfast with our rate and we had a an assortment of breads, pastries, jams and jellies, fresh juice and Moroccan mint tea (try it.. it's delicious!). The Riad is 5 mn walking distance from Jemma El Fna, Dar Si Siad, Koutobia, and other sights. Even though it's within the Medina walls, it's located in a quiet corner and you'll hear very little pedestrian noise or traffic which we found to be a big plus seeing how chaotic certain parts of the Medina can be. Olivier the owner is very accommodating and very helpful.as all his staff. They'll be happy to give you advice on what to do, where to go, places to dine and everything else in between. They'll sincerely go out of their way to be of assistance.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at dar najat. We highly recommend it and found our stay to be flawless. Even if something did go wrong, we had a feeling that they would have done their absolute best to resolve it. There was a sincerity among them that made you feel right at home. We'll never forget it.
From the moment we arrived in Marrakesh, Dar najat gave us warm welcome and memorable experience. Tucked away on a quiet street just 5 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Djemaa el Fna, This riad is truly a hidden gem. The riad itself is charming and comfortable, and the owner olivier did everything possible to make us feel at home.
Food: Moroccan breakfast was served fresh every morning on the terrace and provided a wide assortment of delicious foods including freshly baked breads, cheeses, jam/marmalade, eggs or omelettes, mixed fruit and a choice of coffee, mint tea, milk and fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Location: The location of the riad is near unbeatable, especially if you like a respite from all of the activity in the plaza. Within about 15-20 minutes, we could walk to most of the attractions in Marrakesh (e.g. Badai palace, Saadien tombs, Bab agnaou, Koutoubia mosque, the souks). A few were farther away, but well worth the longer walk to stay where we were. The street where Dar najat is located is a bit quieter, but we never felt unsafe, and there is a night guard at the riad.
Hospitality: The owner possesses a wealth of information, has traveled extensively and is a fantastic conversationalist (in English, French, Spanish and maybe other languages as well). After we arrived, he sat us down with mint tea and maps of the city and highlighted the attractions for us. Not only can he provide great tips on places to see, eat, shop, etc., but he also helps arranges tours outside of Marrakesh. We decided to do a half-day hike in the atlas mountains, he arranged our transportation to and from the mountains, a private guide and lunch at a charming restaurant
In short, we loved the city and our experience at dar najat Our least favorite part of Marrakesh was being dropped off at the airport after four days of fun. We will definitely be back and can't wait to return .
Dar Najat has many things going for it: ease of access, excellent food, a wonderful rooftop views that surpass any other that we have stayed in.
Much care and attention to detail has been given by Olivier the owner throughout the riad and it looks like there has been no expense spared with regard to the décor and furnishings. Antiques, african painting and quality lanterns abound along with Moroccan rugs and cushions, and the place has a really luxurious feel to it.
Our room was large with a huge bed, stunning bathroom and TV! The inside shutters on the windows really blocked out the light (which was important to us) and we slept very well.
As the weather was warm and sunny we had breakfast on the roof terrace, which was a real treat. The breakfast was delicious including fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs and Moroccan breads, which was more than enough to set us up for the day.
We also ate at the riad for 2 nights and the food was exquisite and very well prepared. Several times before, we've found that food can be a let down at hotels and riads but not at Dar najat. It was well prepared, delicious and hot!
The views from the terrace are some of the best you'll get from a riad in Marrakech and we've stayed at several. Because of the open space , there are great views of the rooftops of Marrakech medina dominated by the nearby , Koutoubia minaret and the snow-dusted atlas Mountains.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying here. We are in Marrakech every couple of months and this has been the best place we have stayed in so far.
It is never easy travelling with an infant and initially we found some opposition from other Riads in Marrakech where our son wasn't welcome. Thank goodness Dar Najat was recommended to us.
This is a hidden gem. Located in the Medina about a 5min walk from the place jamael fnaa and the souks. The owner Olivier has done a wonderful job in this Riad. Outside is the hussle and bussle of a Morrocan Street but inside it couldn't be quieter or more tranquil. The Riad has been beautifully and tastfully decorated. Our room was very well proportioned and being on the ground floor excellent for our son.
However, what made Dar Najat so enjoyable for us was the wonderful staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble. A family welcome is often a holiday cliche but Dar najat fullfilled this in every respect. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.
One pointer would be to accept the Riad's offer of an airport transfer. Unless you have the homing instincts of a cruise missile you will not find it. It's worth every penny.
Marrakech Coolest Riad
My first visit to Marrakech and I'm already working out when I can go back!As I am living in rabat for 2 years; We had just the best weekend and dar najat made it perfect. The riad is beautiful, homely, comfortable, friendly and romantic , I was there with 4 other girls on a girls weekend away so that is saying something! Next time I'll take my husband. The rooms are beautiful, not over the top just simple with a touch of glamour. The roof terraces are just perfect for eating lunch, supper or just soaking up the gorgeous warm autumn sun with a book. We felt we used every inch of the riad, normally I stay in a hotel room, eat breakfast and head out but at Dar najat you want to just hang out however we did manage the odd shopping spree a couple of times a day ! There are wonderful restaurants and bars and just so much to do. And one last thing the staff atDar najat are brilliant, they made our weekend perfect.
We stayed in Dar Najat for 5 nights and it was fantastic! It was such a serene and relaxing place to go back to at the end of a busy day sightseeing. The food was also lovely and all of the staff including the owner Olivier going out of his way to help you.
he took so much of the stress out of our stay by giving recommendations on where to go like that great lebanese restaurant azar, making bookings, arranging transport and giving directions.
It's also well placed as it's within a short walk to most of the main sites.
We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we go back to Marrakech!
-> personal: 1a, top, genial
The place is a dream; the decoration, the setting, the calm. Staff is very friendly, the service outstanding, the food succulent and authentic. The music can take you miles back in history .
I took my mother and a friend to Marrakesh for a week' holiday . and Dar najat was great.
It is close to the cultural attractions, and within walking distance 5mn to the place Jamma elfnaaa .
Once inside all is tranquil ; I looked in all the rooms and can confirm that they all live up to the web-site photos - they're beautiful, I was lucky to have a room on the 1st floor but my Mum was equally pleased with her pretty and cosy room on the ground floor.
Although there is a pretty courtyard , the main public area is the terrace, where we had generous breakfasts , lounged in the sun after a jaccuzi and enjoyed evening dinner .
I would say that the gem of all at Dar najat is Olivier and his staff He is the most warm and helpful hotel proprietor I have ever met, he speaks perfect English, He will give all the info and tips you could possibly wish for. He made us feel exceptionally welcome He give very good restaurant recommendations azar a new lebanese resaurant beautiful, with great food ,great wine from lebanan châteaux Kefraya .Le comptoir darma fabulous mechoui .He arrange anything you have in mind.like a night in essaouira great italian food there . thank you all
So perfect !
Everything is really perfect in the Dar Najat Riad. The Riad is wonderful with a typical decoration which throws you into the oriental ambiance as soon as the door is crossed. It is a real pleasure to be back in 4 the quietness and freshness of the Riad, with a mint tea, after a walk in the teeming crowd of the Medina. The Riad is especially well located, close to the very lively Jemaa el-Fna place, the souks and other interesting sights . What a pleasure also to have the diner in the Riad while the day has been so busy : the cooking is absolutly excellent, much better than in most of the restaurants we tried. And eventually, a great thanks to the Dar Najat team who is doing the maximum to make your stay unforgettable. Et pour finir, un grand Merci à toute l'equipe du Dar Najat qui fait tout pour rendre votre sejour inoubliable. These people are rare : extremely cordial, cheerful, attentive, obliging, and proffesional. What else ? It was absolutly perfect.
little paradise in Marrakech!!
We realy want to thank Olivier and his team again for this fantastic week end. Everybody was very kind. The place is amazing, with all his flowers and his nice jacuzzi.
We hope come back very soon!
The best riad in Marrakech
This riad is situated close to the Jemma el fna square (a few minutes walk away), it is very tastefully decorated and the staff are very friendly.
The staff all spoke fluent English and they were happy to do whatever was asked from them day or night. The owner Oliver was so nice, he even helped us to organise day trips into the Ourika Valley and the atlas Mountains, he found us an English speaking driver and made sure that the driver looked after us.
Our room was very nice, it had its own air conditioning unit which was nice and cold. The ensuite bathroom was clean and the shower was very powerful.
The food at the riad was delicious, the complimentry breakfast was the perfect start to the day, fresh pancakes, waffles, omlettes and pastries. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and very tasty. This riad offered complimentry drinks all day and we found this a very nice touch.
There were 2 terraces, one of the terraces had a massive jacuzzi on it and it was very relaxing in there, on the other terrace there were lots of sun loungers which were always free to use.
I would highly recommend this riad to all of my family and friends, the main reasons being the location (inside the medina), the friendliness of the staff and the feeling of being at home.
DAR NAJAT the best of marrakech , beautiful riad
Best place to stay in Marrakech :boutique riad dar najat.
I’m not very used with reviews but this time..we had to write some few words as all in this romantic guest house have been more than helpful and kind with us!
Great atmosphere..fantastic to be in the jacuzzi on the roof terrace with a glass of wine..when getting hot!
All since the transfer from aerport until the end of the stay has just been perfect.
I have to say I was a little worried with this experience as I never stayed in any country of africa before this lovely trip.;but after one day of “ethnic choc..”I found all and Marrakech totally incredible..and safe as the location of the riad is just firty meters from the cousin of the king’s palace.
Art work amazing and the food was the real best we ever had in the all holidays.
For sure with out any hesitation,we’ll come back in dar najat for our next trip to september in Morocco.
By chance I did find DaR Najat . The best Riad I have been in Marrakech the coolest , for sure . The location 5 MN from Jamma EL Fnaa . The wonderful staff and its atmosphere witch is unique thank you to have made my week a dream
the staff made our trip
The first thing that we were struck with was the friendly staff and their willingness to serve. Nothing was a problem and everything was possible. They assisted us with any request from personal shopping to spa recommendations and getting phone credit and a doctor that made house calls. The Riad itself was very cool as was the ambiance. Dinners were very tastey and the lamb was to die for. A great spot in the hustle and bustle of the medina (old town). Highly recommended.
Best place in morroco
For once i have to agree with all the other reviews, this Riad is truly special. you are able to pick the room you like best, what you would like for dinner, what you would like for breakfast etc. I have stayed in 14 hotels this year alone and found this Riad to have the best service by far.The very warming manager Oliver was kind enough to arrange a tour of the city, a trip in the country side on quad bikes and evening events for us. The location of the Riad is 5 Mins walk to the main square where everything is.I tried 3 restaurants and found the lamb served in the Riad restaurant the best by far, the other restaurants served what i call tourist food.
Dar Najat - a home from home
Dar Najat is down a quiet lane in Marrakech and only a very short walk to the main town. Oliver and his team are very welcoming and there is a very relaxing feel to the place - it really does feel like a home from home. Nothing is too much trouble and Oliver spends a lot of time with each guest making sure they have a good time and giving advice. Most people hang out on the roof terrace where there is also a jacuzzi. The Riad is a real break from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and the food is amongst the best we ate in Marrakech. Berber pancakes are served for breakfast and if you decide to take dinner there like we did, you will not regret it - a beautiful tangine of chicken and lemons or something similar will be served. The Riad also serves beer and we discovered this is not always the case elsewhere. There is also a lot of African influenced artwork all over the hotel, including a painting in our room. If you are thinking of Marrackech, see if this charming hotel has a room - its got bags of character too.
Beautiful African Riad - Great Location
I liked the dark traditional African decor and artwork. The service was fantastic all-around. The staff were really friendly & helpful. Breakfasts and dinners were tasty and plentiful. Good coffee and wine, served with a smile. It really felt like we were staying with friends, and were not just some other customers. I know that may sound cliche, but it's true.
There are 2 rooftop terraces with loungers, tables & chairs with umbrellas, and covered seating areas. There is also a jacuzzi on the terrace. The reggae and traditional Afican music in the evenings is a nice touch of mood.
The location in the medina is great. It's maybe a 10 minute walk from Jemaa el Fna, down a pretty straightforward path. Unlike many other riads, the front door is well marked. (thank you) This is a great location to explore the medina from, and then be able to find your way back to.
I would 100% recommend Dar Najat to anyone looking for a great, unique Marrakech riad between 100 & 150Euros/night.
best holiday ever!!
How I wish i was back in Dar Najat -the best holiday ever. Oliver and his lovely team of staff really made our holiday so special -nothing was too much trouble for them. I had fantastic day trips to the atlas mountains organised for me -including a trip to an African market. Food was amazing. Rooms lovely and clean and the air con a must. Room was cleaned every day -the rooms are like something out of arabian nights.
Ill be back -Miss you all! x
