I'd just like to say what a wonderful stay I had at Riad Laksiba. The riad is simply beautiful and in a great location. There is a family atmosphere among the staff who are exceptionally helpful, Mohamed and abdelhamid speak excellent English (Abdelhamid is studying for a Masters in English) and couldn't have been more helpful. Nadia and Raja cook exception food and are happy to share their culinary secrets with guests. Simon, the owner, fits the 'mad dogs and Englishmen' stereotype taking me on the alternative tour of Marrakesh! Which I loved. I he is certainly well thought of in the community and therefore can give guests an insight in local life. A great introduction to Marrakesh, many thanks.

We travel alot with our family and this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review barely 24 hours after we have returned home! Riad Laksiba is a true gem and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From our first moments in the Riad, Abdelhamid and Mohammed made us feel welcome. Every single need was taken care of...dinner reservations, directions, hammam appointments...anything we needed, they were there to help! Highlights included the entire Riad experience from our beautiful breakfasts to our home dinners (4 out of 7 evenings), the peaceful afternoons on the roof terrace to the evening "cinema", everything was great. We had 3 children (ages 7, 10 and 11) in our party and they had as great a time as the adults! Mohammed organized an excursion to the Ourika valley (complete with camel rides and mint tea at an authentic Berber family home). Amazing. We are seriously considering going back in a few months and we will definitely stay at Riad Laksiba. A spectacular experience from beginning to end. Thank you Simon for your amazing craftsmanship that built a gorgeous home and a million thank yous to Abdelhamid, Mohammed, Nadia and Raja for the unsurpassed hospitality we felt during every moment of our unforgettable holiday!

...And most certainly no ordinary guesthouse!
Following glowing reports from my brother and his friends (some of whom are regular Riad Laksiba guests), we stayed here over New Year and loved it, and would highly recommend it. Indeed, having been back only a few days, friends to whom I'd mentioned Riad Laksiba have just booked up.
The impressive service provided by Simon and his team started with the extensive local information volunteered by Simon during our initial correspondence.Thereafter, it continued on our arrival with abdelhamid meeting us at the station. He, along with Muhammed, Nadia and Naja, was always so friendly and enthusiastic about providing any support and information we needed. Whether we required recommendations on places to eat or a car and driver to take us on a day-trip to the Cascades d'Ouzoud (a must!) the team were always on-hand to help.
The conveniently located riad has been restored with obvious love and immaculate integrity. Staying in such beautiful and tranquil surroundings was both a pleasure and a privilege.
Thank-you all for a truly delightful and memorable experience which I hope to revist one day. -

this place really is as good as the reviews suggest, probably better. beautiful building and rooms, with fantastic staff who will help you arrange whatever you want to do. If you are taking the whole Riad, I would recommend taking up their offer to eat in 'at home' one night; beautiful fresh food and better tasting than elsewhere.
My friends and i took the whole Riad which made fantastic value and great atmosphere for us all. -

Fantastic accommodation, seriously pampered and cared for by the Riad staff, within easy walking distance of the main square. Being inside the city walls it gives you such a wealth of opportunity to experience the full package Marrakech offers, with the beauty of being on the fringes of the walled city. Could not have asked for better service, and I would seriously recommend organising a night "in" at the riad where they prepare you a full culinary delight.
Absolutely brilliant. -

The prompt response to my first email enquiry regarding accomodation at Riad Laksiba left no doubt in my mind that I had found a new friend in Simon and that I would no longer be a stranger in Marrakech. Our friendship blossomed with each moment that we shared our history and our future plans. Riad Laksiba will remain unique in my mind over all other accommodation that I have stayed for its ability to make me feel comfortable in the home of good friends providing good food and good advice on the local scene. Simon has created a new category of Bed & Breakfast ... perhaps "Beyond Bed and Breakfast!"

Riad Laksiba was a truly wonderful place to stay. Having signed up for a 4 day yoga course at Laksiba I fell in love with the place and stayed an additional 3 days. Simon and team were extremley accomodating in extending my stay and made me feel so welcome. The Riad is a perfect get away from the hectic souks in the midst of the medina. A truely authentic and beautiful riad with stunning craftwork and attention to detail.
Breakfast was something else! Oh my lord, I cant even think of words to descibe the feeling when your day starts with yoga on the roof terrace and then a breakfast fit for kings. The staff were wonderful and always at hand, nothing was too much. Advise on the city, arranging trips, ensuring you get fair prices and generally looking after you. Every hotel, villa and chalet in the world would benefit form their own abdul-hamid!
I was lucky enough to spend time with Simon and his lovely daughter and friends, it felt like visiting good old friends.
I am already considering a trip back with my family for my fathers 70th birthday, I cant think of a better place to spend time with my family, it is guarenteed to be magical. -

After walking through the beauiful door of the 'little house in the Kasbah' I was stunned with the interior of Riad Laksiba. It is furnished with traditional Morroccan items all of which were made locally in the vast souks situated a short walk from the Riad, in which you can buy anything you could wish for! However you have to be willing to barter!
The walls had wonderful paintings hanging, some of which were actually painted by Riad owner Simon. This was a lovely touch.
The staff a Riad Laksiba were something else, i have no idea where Simon found such incredibly fantastic people who spoke perfect English and bent over backwards to make sure you have the trip you desire. Mohammed and abdelhamid, the hotel managers, were such genuine people who really make the effort in order for you to have a greta time. They are also very punctual when it comes to airport pick ups! And Riad Laksiba is only a five minute drive from the airport which is very handy.
I was lucky enough to spend a day with abdelhamid and taught him to swim at the local water park. I never would have thought I would come back from Morrocco with a genuine friend and in abdelhamid I belive I have. This is the feeling the staff give you.
Beautiful rooms, perfect size, a sun trap of a roof terrace for all you sun worshipers out there!
The food made by the ladies at Riad Laksiba was exquisite, tangines ouzing with taste and breakfast was great, traditional pancakes and fruit really set you up for the day.
I had been to Morrocco before and stayed in a very expensive Riad in the Kasbah, which didnt come close to Riad Laksiba. Riad Laksiba was better in every single way and i couldn't say a bad word about 'this little house in the Kasbah'.
Thank you Riad Laksiba, i thouroughly enjoed my time with you! -

Left on 09/22/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Me and my sister stayed here for 4 nights in September, and it was honestly one of the best things about our entire trip!
Firstly, the Riad itself is beautiful, clean, cool, all you could ever ask for. The location is really nice- in the Kasbah region, it feels safe, is well lit and policed. Even as two young ladies we didn't feel unsafe at any point! The main square was about a ten minute walk away.
Secondly- the staff properly make this place. They could not be friendlier and more helpful, but also not intrusive. Both the guys went out of their way to show us around, suggest things to do, help us arrange tours/tickets etc. And the ladies were also just as lovely and made the nicest breakfasts ever. I really rated that the breakfast was just whenever you woke up, no set times or anything. Simon, who owns the place, is also a pretty cool dude.
After two nights we went on a two night excursion into the desert, and on the way back we were really looking forward to coming back to Laksiba for another two nights.
So in summary, we would stay here again in a heartbeat, in fact we would never stay anywhere else in Marrakech. I would strongly strongly encourage anyone else to do the same! -

I stayed with my girlfriend for a week this summer, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Tours can easily be arranged to the waterfalls or other cities. The main square is a short 10 minute walk away where locals sell there goods, this is where we ate each night, my advice would be to pick a stall and just sit down as the majority serve the same food and the locals can be quite pushy at times

If you really want to experience Marrakech, I have three words for you: book a riad. In fact, I don’t have any hesitation to expand on that and tell you to book Riad Laksiba. My family and I stayed here for four nights this July. The medina was unlike anything my young daughters had ever experienced and though they loved every minute, it was sometimes a little overwhelming at times so it was very nice indeed to have a comfortable, spacious and relaxing place all to our own and even better, one with a plunge pool. I don’t know if I am adding any more positives that haven’t been mentioned by other reviewers but here are a few things that stood out for us: the staff. Mohammed, Abdelhamid, Nadia and Raja were very welcoming and eager to make our stay at the riad – and indeed our entire visit – a pleasant and enriching one. When I mentioned that we were curious to try a local hammam instead of going to one geared to tourists they not only pointed the way, they went with us and showed us how it was done! It was a fantastic experience and now that I have been to a hammam, not one that I could have managed alone. The breakfasts were nice, always with delicious homemade msemen (Moroccan flatbread) by Nadia and Raja. The beds were comfortable, air conditioning was good and there was a reasonable wifi connection. One last thing before I forget although I know this has been mentioned elsewhere – the location. Situated just inside the Bab Ksiba gate makes Riad Laksiba very easy to find. For anyone who has never stayed in the medina before (or has a terrible sense of direction like me), this fact should sway you into choosing this riad over others.

From the moment you are collected from the airport by a member of staff from Laksiba your feel like you are with friends. I was a single mother traveling with my ten year old daughter and our stay in marrakech was possibly one of the best holidays we have ever had. Marrakech is a magnificent place and Laksiba really help you make the most of your adventure. I felt safe and secure at all times and confident that whatever my query or request Laksiba would be there to help. The rooms are comfortable, each with a pleasant seating area to enjoy, so you can be as sociable (or not!) as you choose. The splash pool area is a fabulous place to keep cool in the summer heat. I would encourage travellers to eat at least once at the Riad as the tagines really excelled any other food we found during our stay, and we couldn't resist having one another night. I would really like to thank Simon and his team for a fabulous holiday. I'm sure we will be back!!!

From the moment my daughter and I arrived at Riad Laksiba we felt at home. We were welcomed so warmly by Mohamed, Abdelhamid, Nadia and Raja that we settled in immediately, and after some some mint tea went out with Mohamed to buy ingredients for our evening's tagine dinner. We then watched Nadia and Raja prepare it and later enjoyed our three course meal. This was a brilliant and delicious option (£15 per head) for our first night. We were even given a tagine pot to take home!
The riad is beautiful and in the traditional Moroccan style. It is calm and peaceful with many places to lounge, a small pool which was perfect for weary feet and a roof terrace. Our room was comfortable and we liked the wet room.
Either Mohamed or abdelhamid was always there to help with suggestions, answer our questions and have a chat. Their friendliness really made this riad a very special place to stay. -

Riad Laksiba has a wonderful feel, laid back and authentic, in the Medina and blisfully siituated just out of the main husstle... meaning your walk to the attractions also takes in daily life for the locals - children walking to school, mothers taking their bread to the communal oven, a man repairing bicycles...
Mohamed will welcome you and make sure you have all the info you need to make the most of your stay and Nadia and Raja cook wonderful breakfasts. What's great is you feel so at home you just use the kitchen as you need to.
I was there for a yoga holiday with Tabitha Dean and found it the perfect setting to make lovely new friends with the rest of the group. Great rooftop for yoga especially with the wonderful sunsets in the evening.
A magical holiday! Thank you. -

We have just returned from a five-night break at Riad Laksiba. We were knocked out by the stylish resoration of the riad and by the wonderful hospitality of the staff, Mohamed and Nadia.
Riad Laksiba is handy for the sights and sounds of the Medina and is easy to find (unlike some other places in the maze of narrow streets).
If you stay at Laksiba, and frankly you would be fools not to, try Nadia's delicious evening meals. Mohamed will take you to the market to choose the food that she then spends all day cooking in her magic tagine.
We managed to catch a few rays on the large roof terrace, even in January, and were knocked out by the views of the snow-covered High atlas. -

I went along with my wife’s family to Marrakech over the Xmas holidays in 2011, even though this was my 5th visit to Morocco I can truly say, it was my best experience and most definitely I will put it down to our group staying at Riad Laksiba.
From the very first phone call with Simon almost 4 months before our trip, Simon went to huge lengths to accommodate all our needs (there were 11 of us), and we exchanged numerous phone calls and emails to ensure our holiday was spot on, Simon along with his staff took care of everything which included our transport for the duration, including our tours.
Riad Laksiba was ideal for our group, and the staff at the Riad (Mellak, Abdou and the Maids) were more or less part of the group too and they integrated well with our family. It was the first time in Marrakech for most of the group and they all left Riad Laksiba more than happy and most definitely will return some time in future.
I think from now on, Riad Laksiba will be our holiday home every time we are in Marrakech. I would recommend Riad Laksiba to anyone who intends to stay in a Riad in Marrakech; it has fantastic staff and is situated in a great location. -

Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Being my first trip to Marrakech, staying at Riad Laksiba truly made my experience of Morocco even more amazing than I would have imagined. My family often referred to it as ‘home’ as it is warm and inviting, especially with the very friendly staff which made our stay even more comfortable; Mohamed Mellak is an incredible house manager who assisted us very well. Being only 15 minutes away from the airport and a 10 minute walk away from the main square really made it an ideal place to stay; the Riad is only a short distance away from Marrakech’s main tourist attractions. Located in the Kasbah, Laksiba is situated in a peaceful neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets, and is often referred to as a ‘little paradise in Marrakech’. The rooms, all with en suite bathrooms, are equipped with the necessary facilities and yet retains its Moroccan authenticity with its architectural designs. Working in the commercial property market has made me appreciate building design more and I was impressed with Simon’s (owner of Laksiba) renovation of the Riad; he greatly captured the Moroccan feel throughout Laksiba. The rooftop terrace allows for some spectacular views of the atlas Mountains and of the sunsets and sunrise, which brought a sense of calm and serenity about the Riad. The price per night is definitely cheaper than most places but does not compromise the quality of the stay. I would definitely stay at Riad Laksiba again and recommend others to do so for a fantastic experience of Marrakech!!

Our stay in this Riad was absolutely wonderful in all ways possible. The place itself is stylish ans classy, yet very inviting and cosy. The rooms are very comfortable and equipped with all neccessary facilities without overdoing it (no flatscreen TV and minibar). The Riad also has a beautiful roofterrace and courtyard where you can relax after a busy day out. The Riad is perfectly located in a slightly more quiet area than the very busy Medina but still with walking distance to the Main square, the Soak and the more quiet and upskilled Gueliz. We also experienced the locals in this neighbourhood more relaxed and less imposing than in the Medina. The staff were absolutely amazing. Incredibly friendly and hospitable while at the same time very relaxed, genuinely enjoying a good laugh and chat with the guests. The staff were also very flexible and proved to be ready to go out of their way to enable you to get the most out of your stay. Last but not least, the price per night is cheaper than in most other places. Yet, I would dare to say that the service and comfortability is among the best you will ever get, here or anywhere else for that matter.

Can only reiterate all the positive comments from the many satisfied guests of Riad Laksiba!
What an outstanding and welcoming place this is. It had me hooked from the informative website and links, and our holiday was a complete success..
The owner Simon and his family have done a great job restoring the building into a stylish, clean and comfortable place to stay. Simon's hospitality, sense of humour, local knowledge and genuine friendliness were a key part of us enjoying our trip so much, and we got to see facets of Marrakech that we would have missed without his help..
Laksiba's wonderful team (Mohamed Mellak, Hicham, Touria and abdou) provide a superb service. Mohamed was a charming host and gave us with some very useful information on the local area.
Rooms were spacious and beds comfy, and breakfasts at the riad were delicious, with fresh clementine juice and pancakes, fruit and yogurt. We ate at the riad on our first night, and our tagines and salads there were the best we had in Marrakech!
We took a day trip to the Ourika valley (incorporating a fun and relaxing camel ride) organised by the riad, and our airport transfers were also arranged with Simon before we left the UK. All communications were prompt and very helpful in making the journeys smooth and stress-free.
The Kasbah area is safe and close by to attractions such as the palaces and Saadian tombs. The riad is easy to find too, nearby the gate 'Bab Ksiba'..useful for taxi drop-offs, though most attractions are walkable from the riad.
To sum up...if you want a riad with the most superb personal touch, Laksiba is the one to choose.
We can't wait to return! -

We stumbled accross this Riad by accident while looking for a restaurant and immediately regretted not staying there in the first place (in the end we did anyway). Why?
First of all: the place itself is beautifully designed and decorated, in an elegant and tasteful way. The rooms are amazing with beautiful details such as stunning handmade doors and colorful tilework, and comfort is secured through first class matrasses and high pressure showers (not always to be expected in Morocco). The roofterrace and courtyard where breakfast is served both offer a relaxing and stylish atmosphere. Everything just looks incredibly nice: it's probably the best value for money you wille ever get.
Secondly: the location is wondeful, within a short and easy (!) walk from Marrech' main square and center and within a very friendly, relaxed environment. For those afraid of getting lost and harassed in the old Medina, this is a perfect location (for those who are not as well).
But the biggest asset of this place is probably its staff: Simon, Mohammed and the rest of the crew are about the friendliest and most hospitable people you will ever meet. These are people that really take pride in making your stay enjoyable and comfortable and will go out of their way to do so. Having stayed in other Riads we can really tell you how much of a difference this treatment can make for your holiday experience
We absolutely loved Marrakech allthough after staying there for a week we've seen quite a lot of it. But we would go back just to stay in Riad Laksiba. -

We could not have found anywhere more suitable for our needs while in Marrakesh. My partner and I had high expectations after seeing the Riad Laksiba website and Riad Laksiba more than lived up to everything we had hoped it would be. . It was easy to find ( very important in this maze of a city) and we were genuinely welcomed and cared for by the charming staff. Tasteful, clean, comfortable and totally unpretentious, Riad Laksiba is a haven of peace and tranquillity to return to after the hectic pace of that city. The location, near the Royal palace is a safe and clean area and proximity to one of the main city gates means entry and exit is a lot less hassle if transport such as taxi or rental car is required. Our stay at Riad laksiba really contributed so much to the enjoyment of our time in Morocco. I stayed again with another friend in February 2011 and hope to return for Christmas 2011. Thank you Simon, Abdou and Touria for everything. Maggie
