Nc getaway

Left on 01/14/2012 for a stay in January 2012

This cabin was very nice. The landscaping on the side of the cabin was impressive. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, and there was a lot of space. It was not as clean as my own house, but it is a rental. The only complaint during our stay with regards to the cabin was the TV/Remote situation. The Tv's are old and none of the remotes (there were several) worked. The gentleman from the office came over promptly to help us, changed some batteries and the downstairs remote worked for a few hours. After that, we had to stand and change channels manually. We never could get the DVD players to work with the Tv's. We definitely did not go to the mountains to watch TV, but the weather was windy and cold, so we were cabin bound for a few days. The scenery after the snow was beautiful. The upper lodge was never opened. Overall, the office personnel were very helpful, the cabin was very comfortable (there were seven of us), but there were no activities unless you went down to the lower lodge.

Everything was perfect. The house was beautifully decorated and clean. The stay was one of the best our family had.

Quality home, great view, well stocked

Left on 12/01/2011 for a stay in November 2011

4 parents, 4 children, and a grandmother stayed here the week of Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. It is easy to reach asheville but does take about 45 minutes to do so. The home is very nicely appointed with a full stocked kitchen and is generally very clean. The carpets could use freshening and the kitchen could use a deep clean but nothing was 'gross' or negligent. My only complain is the 'resort' aspect. There wasn't any trail hiking as claimed and it is clearly a stalled development where it was improperly phased in my opinion. There is quite a bit of clear-cutting within site of the home that is very detracting of the area. Also, the pool was closed due to lien/financial issues with the developer. To my understanding this is a different company than the rental company. Still, the home is very nice and I didn't have any problems. In fact, the home didn't have any wine glasses and I called to request some (as it was Thanksgiving) and they had 12 new glasses to the home that afternoon.

Wonderful time!!

Left on 10/28/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Our stay at The Haven was wonderful. We arrived late that first night but had no trouble because the driving directions were easy to follow. We awoke the next moring to the most breathtaking sight. The view, the colors of the changing of the leaves, and the fresh cool morning breeze, just wonderful. We had a few things that needed to be addressed with our cabin but one phone call and things were completed to our liking. The pool and the store were closed, but hopefully by next year there issues are resolved.

Excellent Views - Lot of space - needs new mattress/furniture

Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in June 2011

The pictures posted all over the web don't really do justice to the place. The views are breathtaking. The cabin has plenty of space. Hot tub on the balcony is great. Beautiful sunsets. We rented this and the cabin next-door cabin 115 for our family reunion. We were hoping to have the family time in solitude but the owner's daughter had apparently moved into one of the cabins and she kept showing up. Not knowing anyone we had to call the manager's office to make sure that this was not someone else claiming to be related to the owner. Last day of the stay they were ready to chase us out at 10 am and by 11 am they did not care if we were leaving shortly, they were in the cabin with us packing to leave. It seems that they are possessive about their cabin as they plan to move in sometime in the near future. They don't appear to be prepared to rent it to other but do so unwillingly. Some of the furniture is old and needs replacing. One of the chair backs broke resulting in my brother taking a fall. Some mattresses need replacing. People aren't the friendliest. However, people in the town below are the nicest folks you will ever meet.

Jay,
I deeply regret the experiences you relate in your Review. This information has been passed on to the owners and we assure you it will be resolved to protect future guests. As we discussed prior to your departure, I trust the "unfriendly" people you encountered were not in any way a part of the Resort Management..
