Eagle Lake, MinnesotaBeyond beautiful and relaxing at the Nutty Mermaid
Left on 03/27/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The Nutty Mermaid is a great place to travel to with spouse/partner, friends and family. How can you not love waking up to the beach as your backyard every morning!! The house is very accommodating and spacious!! There is so much to do whether you want to just hang out on the beach and relax or go kayaking, snorkeling, and fishing. The location is great it's only a short car ride for restaurants/bars, site-seeing, exploring and shopping!

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This is an absolutely fantastic place. "Nutty Mermaid" is a 2 story
3-bedroom villa with a private beach. Though it is inside a development,
it separated by trees from other houses, so it is a feel of a very private and secluded place. The sea is quite shallow with a sandy bottom, suitable for small children. There is a kayak and a small sailing boat for your use. The upper floor of the villa is actually a 1-bedroom apartment with a separate entry (via a spiral staircase).
The view from the second floor bedroom is quite spectacular.
Let me also say that the owner is a pleasure to deal with.

We spent a beautiful week at the Nutty Mermaid. The house is extremely clean and comfortable with two bedrooms on one level and a third suite located up a spiral staircase located in the front of the house. We saw 2 other people on the beach during the week we were there. There is great snorkeling in front of the house and tremendous snorkeling on this and nearby islands. Michelle, the owner, is a gracious and incredibly helpful host, especially when we left an important bag behind after we had left. There are excellent restaurants on the island (think: conch prepared in a myriad of ways) and one stop light. It is truly an escape from our regular lives.

My home is on Abaco, which is a family island that is safest place I have ever been with very honest people. I am so happy their bag got shipped to them immediately and everything was more than they expected. I love the privacy but a 10 minute drive and you have everything you need. Kind thoughts to all and as always

This place is simply a little piece of Heaven. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. The beach and water were just perfect and the privacy and sense of seclusion unbeatable. It is really not secluded, as there are neighbors in the area, but it is private enough for a skinny dip if you wish. There are two or three more completely deserted small beaches a short walk away, giving you the feel of being Robinson Crusoe. I highly recommend this to all - great for a honeymoon, for sure, but just as great for a family looking for a beach of their own!

Michelle,
I am sorry for the delay in this message but I wanted to make sure that I thanked you so very much for the use of your beautiful home. My family and I had such a wonderful time and we absolutely loved the warmth of your hospitality and home. The neighborhood was also very friendly as alan, Dwight and a few others paid us visits to make sure we were all ok. Mike and Joy were very helpful too when needed.
We fished, snorkeled, kayaked, cooked, relaxed, read, completed a 1000 piece puzzle and enjoyed beautiful sunrises, thunderstorms and a whole lot of different wind conditions in between.
The island was fun to explore and I would definitely recommend the house to anyone interested so please feel free to use me as a reference if you wish.
Thank you again for all you have done to make our vacation so wonderful. I definitely miss the sand between my toes.

This place has it all! Beautiful spacious house with a ocean view that is unbelievable. I took so many gorgeous sunrise pictures right from their beachfront. If you want privacy this is the place you will want to stay at. Beautiful beachfront, clean sandy shores you can walk along, and an island that you can walk to when the tide is out (or swim to when tide is in. There are kayaks and snorkerling equipment to use. I have been to the Bahamas four times in the last 20 years and this is the best vacation spot yet. I will be back every year to the Nutty Mermaid.

It makes me so happy when guests want to come back to The Nutty Mermaid. It is such a great place to reunite with your friends, family and loved ones. There are lots of fun things to do and explore. I try to have plenty of equipment right at the house for your use. The kayak was a new addition this year and has been a great hit. : )

Left on 05/05/2011 for a stay in April 2011
My wife and I stayed here for 8 days. We love this place. Great views of the sea of abaco from our bedroom, soft sand leading to the very warm water, and to snorkeling if one was so inclined. A kayak made exploring the nearby coves and islands a pleasure. Located close to Treasure Cay and one of the ten best beaches in the world. And only a 20 minute drive from all the great restaurants in Marsh Harbour. We'd recommend Maxwell's as the grocery store to use...it has most anything you'd need...just like being home. We tried all the restaurants the owner recommended to us and enjoyed them all, especially Pete's in Little Harbour, a unique establishment. This is a great spot for a family outing or a romantic getaway. We highly recommend it!

The Nutty Mermaid was absolutely perfect for our group of 6. Each couple had a private bedroom/bath. With the fairly secluded location, we felt as though it ws our own private beach. The little islands were lots of of fun to explore around with the sea kayak.
Our group enjoyed preparing meals, and the kitchen was more than adequate. There were not a lot of close by restaurants, so this was an ideal stay.
The tradewinds were a bit cool, but the temps were perfect out of the wind.Response from Michelle R Bahr - 04/07/2011

I am so happy when guests enjoy my home like I do. The privacy and beauty are what I like so much. The house has lots of recreation equipment, kayak, sailboat ,snorkel, fins and fishing equipment that you can hang out and have such a great time with your group.
Restaurants are very expensive in the Bahamas so having a fully equipped kitchen helps on the savings then when you eat on the patio with your private beach view it truly is magnificent and magical! -

It just doesn't get any better than this. A great vacation house with what felt like its own private beach with a little island just a short distance off the shoreline. Three couples shared this house for 10 days and it was perfect! Each bedroom has a king bed right under a picture window looking out over the beach. We took day trips to explore the island and the surrounding cays (fun!), but we all agreed our favorite days were just hanging our around the Nutty Mermaid. We all hope to return for another visit.

The Nutty Mermaid is a great place to kick back and relax; peaceful, quite, and beautiful. My wife & I stayed in the upstairs. Great for couples. The house is real nice. With a hop, skip, and a jump, you are in the water snorkeling, in the hammock enjoying your favorite drink, or on the beach enjoying the sun with sand between your toes. There are many rock-out-croppings to snorkel around . Plenty of fish and lobster.
Michelle is a great person to work with. She has thought of everything that would help make the stay comfortable, enjoyable, and definitely a place to come back to.
The neighbors are friendly and helpful.
Would we stay here again? Definitely yes!! It would be our first choice.

It makes me happy that they enjoyed my home, I truly feel it is a magical place with it's privacy and tranquility. I love being able to walk out my door and snorkel, kayak, fish and sail. What a great way to get away from it all and enjoy some romance or family time! Think sand between your toes! Michelle

I found the Nutty Mermaid to be a wonderful place to stay. It is just far enough from the population to be very relaxing, and close enough to run into town for shopping, dinner, or the ferry
The beach can not be beat!!!
The house is very comfortable.
Over all just a great place.

We have been traveling to Marsh Harbour for the past 33 years and have stayed at the "Nutty Mermaid" for the past six years. We keep going back because the house is clean and well maintained with a great layout. The caretaker is always available and there is never a delay in resolving any maintenance problems that might present themselves. The view is fantastic and the easy access to the water make for a great place to relax and play.

I have many guests that return. It is like them having their own beach house with out the costs. It makes me happy when they keep coming back because then I know they love my home as much as I do. Things do break because it is a house on the beach with the salt water but I truly try to keep it as beautiful as I can. Michelle
