  Our vacation experience at Mermaid Reef Villas was outstanding. The unit was beautifully furnished, it had a wonderful view right at the edge of the water, and though the beach area was small, it was within a stone's throw of snorkeling at Mermaid Reef. The staff was attentive to our needs, while at the same time giving us plenty of opportunity to relax peacefully on our own. We rented a car from Rental Wheels in Marsh Harbour the first day; it's not an absolute necessity to have a car, but it made things much easier. The units are within walking distance of town, but the roads are narrow and there is a lot of traffic with little room for pedestrians. Groceries are much easier with a car, as well. Maxwell's, a newer, larger food store in town, was quite a distance from the villas; a taxi or a rental car is a must for large order food shopping. The kitchen was well-stocked for most cook's needs, although limited on things such as salad or pasta bowls. The furnishings, decorations, and paint colors were lovely. The linens were quality and plentiful. The covered patio facing the water was a great place to wake up with a cup of coffee. Our villa had king-sized beds with crisp, clean sheets and a duvet-covered down comforter. All rooms had island-style ceiling fans, although they usually weren't needed as the air conditioning was excellent. Bathrooms were stocked with soap, and some shampoo and body washes, but did not provide a hair dryer, which was unfortunate as we hadn't packed one. Besides a few more bowls in the kitchen, it was the one thing Mermaid Reef was missing. Otherwise, Mermaid Reef was just what we were looking for. We would highly recommend these rental villas. We checked many others in the area; for our needs (view, close to water and town, clean, beautifully furnished) it was a great choice. We want to come back again soon!
